I propose that BMO should be renamed to BHO (Black Hole Org), anyone agree with me?
kbrosnan
bugzilla.mozilla.org or the channel on moznet?
intgr
kbrosnan: Yeah bugzilla.mozilla.org
kbrosnan
what bug
intgr

But obviously this isn't my only contact with BMO.
Dryanta
OOOOO SHIIIIIIT
i write a huge blog post, session reset, when i hit back it gone
there HAs to be some way to fgind that post data
i seriously spend HOURS writing
intgr
Dryanta: Linux or Windows?
Dryanta
windows
default security settings
wasnt a ssl session
intgr
You could try searching within all files in your profile directory
Dryanta
but upon hitting back it didnt populate my old data
intgr
Not with Explorer search though, that's useless
Dryanta
whats default profile directory
theres nothing to fulltext search on windows like grep
intgr
If nothing else helps, download Total Commander.
But better not touch Firefox for now
Dryanta
yeah i realize that
im just raged
what is default location for profile directory?
intgr
I dunno about Windows, Google for it
Cork[home]
firefox normally don't save that data
there is extensions for that though
but thats a bit late now
intgr
Cork[home]: Firefox 3.5+ does save form data, because it can restore that after a crash.
But I don't know where or for how long

Cork[home]
intgr: ya, but the same data is used when your hit back, so if its gone there; its gone
the session data thats stored is in sessionstore.js
intgr
Ah ok
Doesn't hurt to look
Dryanta
oh fu*k
what the christ
this is goddamn retarded
what the fu*k is this 1995?
intgr
Some blame also rests on the website for forbidding Firefox to cache the form page.
Dryanta
no, the entirety of the blame lies on not CACHING FORM DATA PERSISTENT IN THE SAME SESSION AND TAB
that is rediculous, what the fu*k could be the point of thaqt thats not secure its paranoid
coz_
hey guys... ubuntu firefox 3.5.8 I still cannot get the search field to focus when opening firefox...is there any about:congif to force this?
intgr
Dryanta: Then you get all the privacy people telling that your browser is recording your every move and spying on you.
I'm not very fond of Firefox writing my credit card numbers on the disk at all.
So it's a tradeoff
Dryanta
it didnt even lose the fu*king php session
just not cache the form data
so i wasnt 'logged out due to inactivity'
i am so fu*king chimped out right now, i cant believe thaqt
i spent like 34h
3-4h writing that
intgr
Firefox does remember form data if the website permits caching of the page.
Dryanta
a website should not 'permit' fu*king sh*t, http 1.0 static fu*king content
kbrosnan
coz_: the search field in the webpage?
intgr
Many PHP sites disable all caching of .php accesses in the first place.
coz_
kbrosnan, no the search field with any of the search engines Google...yahoo etc etc
kbrosnan
no
Dryanta
if anyone can walk up to my computer and look at my browsing history since i cleared it on default settings, including browsing /b/ and redtube, why cant i get my text i typed into my window and the site bounced back by hitting 'back?'
asinine
i shouldnt have to format things in a text editor
then paste onto a website
and it was HOURS of fu*king writing'pqanwrlnm'p[u
';
intgr
We've got Private Browsing for /b/ and redtube ;)
Dryanta
absolutely no way to recover, no way to peek int memory registers?
nothing i can do in java console?
kbrosnan
might be in ram, but i don't know of any windows tools that allow for dumping of ram
intgr
Probably not, but perhaps it's stored in the unallocated areas of your file system somewhere.
A copy of sessionstore.js that did contain your writeup
Dryanta
i can not fu*king believe that bullsh*t

hey guys. hope you're all good. got a question: i'm wanting to execute unix commands from a javascript app using firefox. Is creating an extension (accessing the javascript code by chrome:// URIs) the only way to execute unix commands on the linux machine from the JS app running on firefox? I tried this, but won't work. Is there another way you might know that allow me to do this?
Bittarman
jp--, you mean you want to run unix commands on your clients machine?
jp--
Bittarman, yep. It's a video playback app using a video web plugin (mplayer-plugin), and I want it to reduce/increase the system volume using unix command tools.
Bittarman
jp--, tough :D I hope that never works either
you can interact with the plugin, thats as far as a browser should ever be allowed to go
jp--
are you sure? but i've seen some implementations, and I tried to copy them by, as I just said, creating an extension to allow Firefox to execute system commands. Anyway. I think I will keep looking and/or trying :)

Hi. I'm looking for small firefox plugin that is showing page execution time in status bar, forgot how it calls..
hicham
can i prevent users from removing or disabling an addon ?
kbrosnan
os permission based controls would stop removal.
3.6 prevents extensions from being hidden
though you might be able to see what the cck did http://kaply.com/weblog/2010/03/23/hiding-the-cck/

Is there a way to stop the tabbar from disappearing in fullscreen mode?

Does anyone know of a decent replacement for TagShifter? It doesnt work with FF >= 3 5 and not being able to organize bookmarks without tags is a pain. (usuing Kubuntu 9.10)
