kbrosnan
^Willie^: looks like https://bugzilla.mozilla.org/show_bug.cgi?id=471526
which the fix suggested in the last comment is being worked on as https://bugzilla.mozilla.org/show_bug.cgi?id=374980
^Willie^
indeex -> without wmode setting the flash plugin is in the windowed mode and paints itself in the part of the window. A z-Index can not work in this case !
indeed*
kbrosnan
though recent (>10) linux flash should support wmode=transparent
^Willie^
nope did try that :D
ehh yes flash do
vlc won't
my head is getting a mess due these issues working on flash, html, mono stuff at the same time :S
flash is supporting wmode and works but the problem is vlc and mplayer plugin
giorgian
hi. is there an amd64 version of firefox 3.6?
^Willie^
kbrosnan: second url is an fix ?
kbrosnan
giorgian: os?
^Willie^: work in progress
^Willie^
kbrosnan: i did read it quickly but if i do understand it will work in next release?
I'm using atm linux FF 3.5.3 / win FF 3.6
giorgian
kbrosnan: debian GNU/Linux

^Willie^
kbrosnan: thnx btw
giorgian
kbrosnan: I just installed the amd64 version; debian still packages 3.5.8, so I used the i386 build available on firefox's site, but now that i've 64bit libraries, it doesn't work anymore, of course.
kbrosnan
mozilla only distributes 32-bit versions. there are nightly x64 builds though
^Willie^
kbrosnan: your at work i guess ?
kbrosnan
and distros are responsible for the stable x64 builds for the most part
giorgian
yeah, I tried 3.7.something, and it quite works, but without plugins
^Willie^
3.7 ?
kbrosnan
^Willie^: no, home for the evening
^Willie^
ahh
kbrosnan
3.7 is in the alpha state currently
^Willie^
kbrosnan: first link is about the issue indeed but second link is way older
is that patch still needed and not included in the mainstream
giorgian
maybe I'll just try to build from source
^Willie^
giorgian: since your on an 64bit system it won't take long to build
giorgian: here (gentoo linux) 30~60 minutes(max)
giorgian
what's firefox-3.6.bundle? (in source dir)
time is not a problem
kbrosnan
not sure. dolske any idea what ftp://ftp.mozilla.org/pub/firefox/releases/3.6/source/firefox-3.6.bundle is?
dolske
Mercurial (Hg) bundle, I would assume.
^Willie^
kget shows an folder icon :S
kbrosnan
ah
^Willie^
guess an archive with missing extention
kbrosnan
giorgian: http://mercurial.selenic.com/wiki/Bundle

giorgian
kbrosnan: ok, thanks
^Willie^
kbrosnan: i'm reading https://bugzilla.mozilla.org/show_bug.cgi?id=374980
kbrosnan: but some bugs are from firefox 3.2 and before ?
better to say if that patch fix my issue i have to send an patched firefox to my customer to make it work for him ?
fbe_
hi. firefox in linux, iso_level3_key and right control are not recognized as such
any idea ?
sorry, this is iso_level3_shift.
kbrosnan
^Willie^: that one patch attached will not fix the issue, the related bugs are where the meat of the issue is
^Willie^
kbrosnan: jup i did makeup my mind and go for an other solution -> webkit-dev
write our own app
based on that
AlienDK
Gecko > Webkit
^Willie^
posible but i have my diy browser working already
kbrosnan
depends on what you are doing.
^Willie^
will check gecko in time
kbrosnan
if you need just a html renderer webkit is interesting
^Willie^
end result must be some html ontop of an media player with the movie as background will use some system resources but an amd x2 with 4G ram will handle it
kbrosnan: html is only needed to handle some flash so i guess i'll need gecko in the end but i'm new to mono atm so first play around and look how it works exactly
better to say look some further then just do it and ahh it works but no clue how ;)
but started with the html part by playing with the webkit
AlienDK
I like firefox
Webkit is developed by Apple, KDE and some others
^Willie^
AlienDK: same here
only using firefox
AlienDK
Apple and KDE is a fu*king JOKE
^Willie^
kde is ok to me
AlienDK
:/
^Willie^
enough ram in the box
AlienDK
Well
I got enough too
I just prefer GNOME
^Willie^
but first thing i do check the browser and make sure i have firefox
AlienDK
:)
^Willie^
i have ubuntu+gnome in virtualbox ;)
AlienDK
ok
^Willie^
still seeking where is this and that but i'm getting there
AlienDK
Gnome is pretty easy
^Willie^
it works well
AlienDK
very simple :)
^Willie^
less handles to pull on but it do's the job
AlienDK
KDE is (IMO) just eyecandy
^Willie^
guess gnome will replace my old kde 3.5 on my laptop
AlienDK: true
a sh*tload of features mosth people never use or need and eye candy but don't say gnome can't do any eye candy it can i have seen it
AlienDK
GNOME can do eyecandy
^Willie^
indeed
AlienDK
just install beryl
^Willie^
beryl .. ehh hope the did fix a lot since 3 years ago
AlienDK
works fine to me
^Willie^
in that time it did look like a faster desktop but not for 24/7 running desktops
AlienDK
I use Ubuntu(with gnome ofc) and beryl
and its STILL using less memory than Win7 :P
and I got wobbly windows and lots of animations and the desktop cube
^Willie^
if kde 3.5 can run on 256mb ram p3 900 mhz with 8mb video ram .. gnome will do better :p
AlienDK
:)
^Willie^
using that laptop as mobile dev station :)
AlienDK
ok
^Willie^
long time in the train and still coding php stuff
AlienDK
:)
^Willie^
just don't try eclipse or zend studio on that system specs
AlienDK
hehe
^Willie^
eclipse on an windows box p4 1.6ghz .. it did make me sick and i never use it again
AlienDK
:P
^Willie^
i do remember using it in my old days on an duron 850 mhz system :S
nowdays forget it
dunno wat they have done with it but it take to mutch time and forcing me to use notepad
AlienDK
notepad >.>
^Willie^
AlienDK: about webkit .. konqueror did crash a while ago sucking 1.8G ram and i did think it was closed ;) not have seen that with firefox
AlienDK
:)
^Willie^
firefox atm is using less ram then before so no probs with it
AlienDK
Firefox is an awesome browser
^Willie^
indeed
AlienDK
those people that change to Chrome confuse me
^Willie^
guess not mutch browsers will handle 3 windows with 35 tabs per window
AlienDK
:)
^Willie^
ehh about chrome is it an clone from firefox like google vlc player is renamed vlc ?
AlienDK
lol
>.>
Chrome sucks -.-
^Willie^
i have seen the 1th patch just renaming nothing more :p
at google code
AlienDK
"OMG! GOOGLE HAS BRAWSUR! A new way to invade my privacy! I... MUST... HAS!!!!!"
^Willie^
indeed
google starts to play the monopoly
AlienDK
I don't use any Google services/products at all
well
except for youtube once in a while
^Willie^
not so long ago i did remove some google crash handler and dunno where it did come from but did bug me
AlienDK
:)
Not very happy about googleupdater either
^Willie^
i was like wtf is this i did expect dr watson
not google crash handler
AlienDK
:P
^Willie^
adobe forcing users to install akamai stuff :S
AlienDK
:/
Adobe sucks
Especially Adobe Reader
^Willie^
all i know about akamai it is an proxy and many msn users msn over those proxy boxes that look like home desktops
AlienDK
Too many security holes
>.>
^Willie^
guess what that make a user think about akamai ;)
AlienDK
:P
^Willie^
spyware ?
lol
AlienDK
btw
^Willie^
happy that windows is running in vbox behind iptables
AlienDK
malware, spyware, adware
Its not as big a problem as most people thinks
^Willie^
saw an discussion today in an html channel about howto bypass adblockers .. :S
AlienDK
I've been running Windows for many years
lol
screw them
^Willie^
AlienDK: i know i do the same
AlienDK
Been infected once
and it wasn't even my fault
^Willie^
AlienDK: i told him reinvent the blockwheel and we will kill it again
AlienDK
no anti-malware
:P
^Willie^
like flashblock
or point google syndication and ads to localhost ;)
AlienDK
Instead of trying to bypass adblockers maybe they should look into WHY people hate ads
^Willie^
same for *.islive.* at here
indeed
mouse focus lock browser crash due por programming in flash etc etc
AlienDK
:/
^Willie^
interupting the user from reading his info
AlienDK
flashy ads, sound and animation, ads that fills the whole screen
thats really annoying
^Willie^
jup
slow loading page stats are also annoying
AlienDK
yeah
^Willie^
imetrix is working well google stats damn slow
AlienDK
Google is an evil company
^Willie^
both do the same useless service that can be programmed in php for your own site and keep your stats private
AlienDK
:)
some webmasters are just lazy
^Willie^
guess it is the grass that did make me think diffrent about those tasks ;)
AlienDK
:)
^Willie^
AlienDK: indeed
AlienDK
"Hmm.. either I can use Googles Analytics which is not free OR I could just create my own. What should I choose. Hmm...."
-.-
^Willie^
for example sms alerts :D
AlienDK
I hate cellphones
^Willie^
remember those old text pagers ?
AlienDK
hehe
Yeah
Never really used them
^Willie^
using an 70cm or 2meter transreceiver you can create your own pager node at free radio band ;)
AlienDK
cool
^Willie^
some of those pagers can receive those bands and be used as personal pager network for +-50km range
AlienDK
nice
^Willie^
good enough to replace the 8cent per sms ;)
AlienDK
yeah
I wish cellphones would just go and die though
Seriously
^Willie^
26 boxes one database go's offline 26 notifications -> 3 euro or so
AlienDK
if I leave my computers, its because I want to get AWAY from people
^Willie^
;)
hehehe
sometimes i bring my phone to my mother and i leave it there for the weekend
