Peng: i think this is it (from TCPView_: firefox.exe:1488TCP75.254.59.17:62798130.239.18.172:6667ESTABLISHED
Peng
fsync: That is something at umu.se. irc.mozilla.org uses only 63.245.208.159 and 63.245.212.23.
fsync
yeah i was wrong
it's 212.23 when i try a new connectino
63.245.212.23
Peng
Yeah, I'm on that server right now. It's always possible it's not accepting new connections, though. I dunno.
fsync
ok
Peng
Just for fun, try connecting to the other IP.
fsync
same deal
zjblabs
minefield just crashed after trying to open a downloaded file directly through the downloads dialog
it complained about some chrome script running too long after a *long* delay, I wasn't thinking and told it to continue, and moments later firefox just gave up
fsync
i'm on a DHCP-assigned address, let me try reconnection with a diff address in case the last user was abusing it
peng: FWIW i can connect fine from m y dialup connection but not through my broadband connection, even though both usually work

Peng
fsync: I see... FWIW, this isn't the first time I've heard of someone's IP being banned, but usually they're from some foreign country I can't find on a map. :P
fsync
ok - anyway i'm on now :)
Peng
fsync: It's not a very active channel, but you should ask in #bmo over on irc.mozilla.org.
fsync
thanks
SQlvpapir
gosh freezing up all the time now -,-
s4a
when wearing a skin or whatever it's called, how do I make the bottom little line not wear the skin?
is it possible?
i only want the top to have it
Peng
What?
fsync
s4a - are you talking about with a persona as in getpersonas.com?
Peng
Oh, this is #firefox. You're talking about Personas? I dunno, then. :P
s4a
ya
the getpersonas.com
fsync
there's no built-in way to do that
you could make it happen with a little hackery if you want to go to the trouble
s4a
how much knowledge does it take? (i dont have time right now but later)
should i also file this as a wishlist bug?
or will it be ignored?
fsync
ask on irc://moznet/personas
i thinnk that's right
s4a
wat's right?
fsync
yes that channel is the right one
godzirra
heya folks.
Is there a way in the newest version of firefox to make new tabs open at the end of the tab list instead of after the tab they were opened from?
Peng
godzirra: Yes.
(Action) gets out grep again
s4a
fsync, o i c, ok well ill do this later, im just gonna file a quick wishlist bug for now
godzirra
<3 grep.
Peng: can you share how, please? :)
fsync
s4a - kk

Peng
godzirra: You should try it out for a while to see if you learn to like it, though.
godzirra: about:config, browser.tabs.insertRelatedAfterCurrent (and actually I used ack)
godzirra
I can do that I suppose. Its just different than I'm used to, mostly.
But I'll try it out for a bit first.
Peng
Sometimes different is good. :)
godzirra
Occasionally. ;)
Okay. Back to trying to fifgure out how to make a remote control ball move.

anyone know when 3.7 will be released?
TannerF
patience is key
Peng
Both in waiting for 3.7 and waiting for the answer. :D
TannerF
yes!
jayh
Peng: a key working on two different doors? WITCH
TannerF
jayh: ?
computerquip
Hi, would anyone know the maximum amount of tabs that firefox can probably handle at one time?
TannerF
hm
i tried to crash firefox 2 once
i had like 500 tabs
so a lot
(FWIW, it didn't crash)
atoem
if i open a new tab then i get a blank page
TannerF
atoem: what's your homepage set as?
atoem
how can i make make it that i get mij startpage?
TannerF
Tools->Options->Tabs may have an option
i think it does, i dont recall
atoem
to file:///C:/2/dropdownmenu/index.html
but i have to click home first
TannerF
maybe something in about:config
dolske
computerquip: there's no specific limit, it entirely depends on the resources of your system and the specific pages being loaded.

Repost: After a recent upgrade to Firefox 3.6 on Mac OS X 10.5, I'm only seeing one of my own bookmarks. Looking at the Bookmarks menu, I have only Bookmarks Toolbar, which has Most Visited (populated correctly), Google Reader feed, MLN (Mozilla Latest News) feed, and one folder of my own with a single bookmark in it. I tried copying one of the backup .json files to restore, but with the same result. Also the "All Bookmarks" folder u
nder Library just has "(no title)" three times.
dolske
Do you have TorButton installed?
Poeir
dolske: No. The only extensions I have are ActiveGS, Coralize, GreaseMonkey, NoScript, Tab Mix Plus, and User Agent Switcher.
At one point I also had Reveal and Session Manager installed, but there haven't been updates for those in ages, so AFAIK they aren't installed.
dolske
hmm, not sure what would cause that. Try running Firefox in Safe Mode to see if they come back?
Poeir
dolske: I have a dumb question. How do I start Firefox in safe mode?
dolske
http://support.mozilla.com/en-US/kb/Safe+Mode
Poeir
Thank you.
I checked all of the boxes on startup and have the same result.
computerquip
I just opened and closed about 500+ tabs.
When I closed them all, I was left with an excessive 100 MB of memory usage, any reason why?
They were also blank tabs.
Poeir
And now I'm also seeing "Hello, you either have JavaScript turned off or an old version of Adobe's Flash Player. Get the latest Flash player. " on YouTube, even with all extensions disabled. At this point I think my main question is how do I revert to Firefox 3.5?
Nevermind second one, that was a side effect of trying to fix the bookmarks issue.
henryC
nobody on #thuinderbird. please can someone tell me why my 4 imap accounts might have been mapped to a single account.....???? this is reallly a problem for me.
rjohnson19
henryC: The topic means #thunderbird on irc.mozilla.org, not freenode
i also don't really understand what you mean.
Samus_Aran
computerquip: because Firefox doesn't have perfect memory management, I would say
computerquip
Oh?
Isn't that a bit excessive as to what is not perfect though?
Also, what is the equivalent of about::config now adays.
LiENUS
i use to have an awesome addon that would let me store a copy of a page locally in something similar to the bookmarks sidebar but it would store a copy of the page so if it disappeared later id still have it, but it would also let me edit the page too, highlight it, remove adds whatevr
anyone know what that addon was?
was great for saving references
caustic
hello.
can anyone point me in the right direction?
I have linux, running firefox 3.6, about:plugins is showing 2 different versions of flash and I am stuck how to get just one
auscompgeek
Remove the older one.
Or just disable it.
caustic
i only see one libflashplayer.so file
where would i disable the 2nd one, the older one?
auscompgeek
Tools > Add-ons > Plugins
caustic
only one is listed there
only the about:plugins is showing a different version
one is r32, the other is r45
auscompgeek
What's the about:config pref that exposes full paths of plugins?
caustic
oooo... i don't know that one
auscompgeek
Er, I think it's plugins.expose_full_paths...
caustic
ok, i'll try it
auscompgeek
Or is it plugin.expose_full_paths?
caustic
not working so well
nor using underscores between ins and exp
auscompgeek
Er, you aren't meant to have an underscore between plugins and expose.
afaik, all prefs have at least 1 .
caustic
i tried the dot first
that's more than I know ;)
i tried about:plugin.expose_full_paths
auscompgeek
no no no! that's not the correct syntax at all!
caustic
ok then :)
auscompgeek
Please go to about:config.
caustic
done
and glad i asked
auscompgeek
Now, you will be able to get the full path of the old Flash plugin and delete it.
remember to switch the pref back when finished.
(assuming you have figured what to do after going to about:config)
caustic
expose_full_path is false
i got to the about:config part ...i'm an idiot
it says above it that default plugin disabled is true
auscompgeek
Did you switch the pref to true yet?
caustic
that i didn't
now true
i think for this part i'll need new-user hand holding
auscompgeek
Now reload about:plugins ;)
caustic
check
ok, reloaded about:config....went to plugin.expose_full_path and it's nice and bold
but i'll bet it should say it under plugins huh, and that's why you had me do that
ok hang a sec
yes, they show paths now
they both point to the same file in /usr/lib/flashplugin-installer/
auscompgeek
:S
You can try restarting Firefox to see if that helps...
caustic
if it matters, which it probably doesn't, but i'll put it out there...they aren't listed in order...the very first plugin is the the earlier version and the very last plugin, below everything else, is the r45 version
sorry, back
restarted firefox, my chat program
auscompgeek
Yes, we all know you are using ChatZilla.
caustic
is that bad?
nevermind...not important
ok it may only be cosmetic that I have two different versions listed
i'm ok with that...the reason i'm looking into it is the choppyness playing flash videos
i was hoping if there was a plugin problem, I could fix that and the choppyness would follow
auscompgeek
How often does this occur?
caustic
full screen hulu, youTube etc
any time i use flash
auscompgeek
time interval?
e.g. every 15s?
caustic
beyond the choppyness, there is the seg fault it keeps causing in firefox that knocks me to login screen
oh, for chop?...constantly
low frame rate
i should be more specific
[79915.495287] firefox[13918]: segfault at 97d13d6c ip ac492f13 sp 9faaa340 error 4 in libflashplayer.so[ac016000+994000]
dmesg showed that as my last crash
that is almost completely reproduceable.
auscompgeek
tried reinstalling flash? :D
caustic
open a 3-d game, switch to firefox and scroll with wheel...bang!
i haven't
MaxHR
Hello, can anyone suggest an addon to allow multiple session saving, naming, deleting? Also an addon to load all tabs from cache when restoring session?
auscompgeek
Session Manager
caustic
this is about a weeks old install
auscompgeek
MaxHR, well, perhaps not for the last problem, but the other half, yeah...
caustic
Max, I do not know
ausc is the far and away expert here ;)
auscompgeek
caustic, no need to say "I don't know" ;)
caustic
just wanted him/her to know I wasn't ignoring him/her
I can attempt to re-install flash
seems simple enough and I haven't done it
thank you very much for your help
auscompgeek
caustic, if everyone said "I don't know" or was away, that'd be similar to a flood.
caustic
(Action) bows to auscompgeek
mernilio
hi all, how do i kill iceweasel properly? killall iceweasel/iceweasel-bin simply wount do it
auscompgeek
mernilio, try File > Exit?
MaxHR
auscompgeek: thx, am checking sm out
let me know if you think of the other
I am on dialup, so anything to save time is great
mernilio
auscompgeek: sometimes it freezes.. and i dont want to reboot
auscompgeek
hm, killall firefox-bin should work, but that's regular Firefox...
mernilio
auscompgeek: mm.. i dont have a clue either
Samus_Aran
computerquip: about:config, as it's always been
computerquip: most browsers do not free up the memory once tabs are closed. such is life.
auscompgeek
Samus_Aran, except Google Chrome :P
Samus_Aran
computerquip: submit a bug report if you like, though my experience is the Mozilla bug tracker is useless.
auscompgeek
Bugzilla is not specific to Mozilla.
Many open source software vendors use it.
Samus_Aran
hm ? the Mozilla bug tracker, for Mozilla projects. Firefox bugs go unfixed for years and years
not the bugzilla software itself
auscompgeek
My experience is that many bugs have been fixed.
Samus_Aran
there are ten year old spec-violation bug reports that still haven't been fixed to today
auscompgeek
(Action) ignores the troll
Samus_Aran
such as the Back/Forward buttons connecting to the Internet and redownloading content, instead of showing the pages as they were in history
