does anybody knows why this happens? http://img36.imageshack.us/img36/7311/pantallazopw.png
it's an SVG image
loaded in the HTML as:
<p><object type="image/svg+xml" data="./images/3D con sombra alargada.svg">
Your browser does not support SVG files!
</object></p>
sometimes those scroll bars appear, and I dont want them to be displayed in any case
AlienDK
fedora >.>
peque
even when they don't appear at first (as the little "flower" up-left), if you just make zoom in/out and reload the page, they may appear again
AlienDK
I never used Fedora
Is it nice?
:)
peque
but you're saying that is because of my OS? not because of firefox?
yes, I like it a lot :)
AlienDK
Whats so good about it?
I have no idea why it happens :P
peque
has the very latest apps
AlienDK
hmm
peque
and autoreporting tool for bugs
and security...
(SElinux)

AlienDK
could you upload that .html so I can check if it happens to me?
peque
sure
(Action) is having some problems, trying to get it with something more simple... :)
AlienDK
ok
lie2815
is there a support channel for extension development somewhere? #xul is empty
AlienDK
try on irc.mozilla.org
yeah
theres some guys in #xul on irc.mozilla.org :)
lie2815
thanks
AlienDK
:)
peque
html: http://pastebin.com/79UDRdKx
svg: http://pastebin.com/EGcF46Hv
AlienDK
ok
peque
svg has to be in the same path, named as "aa.svg"
notice that, with that simple example, it may be displayed correctly, but if you zoom in/out and then reload the page, the scroll-bars may appear
Peng
lie2815: Tried #extdev on irc.mozilla.org?
AlienDK
hmm
peque
as you saw in the screenshot before, sometimes those scroll-bars may appear before doing any zooming, just using the default zoom
lie2815
i will, peng
AlienDK
tried to zoom and reload a couple of times
I don't see any scrollbars
hmm
LiENUS
so when is firefox gonna get the html 5 pushstate stuff?
zpao
LiENUS: next major release. it's in trunk
peque
:S
LiENUS
zpao, 3.7?
or later
AlienDK
kinda weird :/

zpao
or whatever it gets called
peque
which version are you using, AlienDK?
AlienDK
3.6 on Windows
zpao
LiENUS: it's in the 3.7 developer preview alpha whatever release
LiENUS
orly
peque
i'll try it with that version and see what happens (i still have 3.5.8)
AlienDK
ok
Good luck :)
peque
:)
thought you used a Linux distribution
zpao
LiENUS: yep, which was just a "we're going to release whatever is on trunk right now so the cool stuff starts getting out". i dont know how much it was publicized or where
peque
(as you talked about Fedora as if you knew it ;))
AlienDK
I do
I use Windows and Ubuntu
LiENUS
zpao, its in the nightlies right?
or did they release a semi stable ver?
AlienDK
I'll try on my ubuntu box
DarkMac_
any ideea how to change the menus font size in thunderbird ?
zpao
LiENUS: yep. http://www.mozilla.org/projects/firefox/3.7a1/releasenotes/ for all that's in it
LiENUS
ima go ahead and try it heh
zpao
LiENUS: it's "semi stable", which almost all nightlies are, but beware, it's not battle tested (but i use nightlies with nothing terribly wrong). good to make sure you have a backup of your profile though :)
AlienDK
ouch
LiENUS
nope
too lz to back it up
im sure it'll be alright
AlienDK
peque: when I do it on my ubuntu box I get those scrollbars too
hmm
peque
3.6 too?
AlienDK
yeah
peque
:S
AlienDK
grr
LiENUS
does it include the display acceleration stuff?
AlienDK
kinda weird
peque
then I'm aborting installation :D
AlienDK
why?
LiENUS
using direct2d
zpao
LiENUS: no, i don't think that's even finished yet
LiENUS
thats ok i dont even run vista lol
AlienDK
According to an old MS DOS 5 upgrade commerical upgrading "is the natural thing to do"
:P
LiENUS
too bad tho heh
dolske
(Action) will never upgrade from DOS 2.11!
AlienDK
:O
LiENUS
id love to hop on a vista machine and see what the performance diff is
umm
dolske
(actually, DOS 5 was a nice upgrade)
AlienDK
:)
LiENUS
these nightlies
they arent storing their profile in the same location as the installed firefox are they? lol
nm it didnt do what i thought it just did
i dbl clicked firefox.exe from that zip file and immediately a window opened lol
i thought it just opened up my profile with both copies at once
peque
AlienDK: any guess?
:S
AlienDK
Not really :/.
dolske
LiENUS: it will use your same profile, but if you already have the browser open it just opens a new window.
AlienDK
I'm just as confused as you :P
LiENUS
dolske, yeah i figured that out cos i checked the about window
dolske
if you want separate profiles, use the profile manager or --profile command line flag.
LiENUS
nah thats alright heh
peque
hmmmmmmm the same happens if I use Konkeror...
AlienDK
hmm
LiENUS
now to figure out pushstate
what exactly is supposed to go in the data parameter
i really dont need anything do i?
guess not it seems to be working heh
bookmarkable links along with ajax heh
well
i must be misunderstanding something :/
or its a big...
oh i know what it is
welp i have one bug left in the history stuff and thats enough di*king aroundwith that for now
dolske, do i have to have both firefoxes closed out before doing firefox --profile?
dolske
yeah, unless you also use -no-remote when starting the new one.
LiENUS
what exactly does -no-remote do?
dolske
(note that the two instances can't use the same profile)
by default running firefox will attempt to just open a new window with the existing process.
LiENUS
hmm -no-remote does nothing heh
firefox doesnt seem to try and load
in fact firefox --profile doesnt seem to do anything when i close out of the first firefox
somethings not right here
zpao
-profile path-to-folder will use path-to-folder as a profile directory
LiENUS
oh i thought it brought up the profile manager heh
thanks zpao
zpao
-P (or -ProfileManager) brings up the profile manager, but you might still need -no-remote
LiENUS
i'l just use -profile heh
zpao
or you can use that to specify a named profile that was created with the profile manager
LiENUS
drop it in a bat file
AlienDK
!keep buffwe
oops
wrong chan
lol

Is there a way to enforce (as user, not as server) that firefox writes all cookies (even session cookies) to disk?
Peng
Technically session cookies are on disk in sessionstore.js, aren't they?
tedo
I finally upgrade ff 3.5.7 to 3.6 and now I have compatibility problem with language support (extension?) named Firefox (hr) 3.5.7" because it said "Not compatible with Firefox 3.6" and causes freezing FF @ starting (and foce me to use -safe-mode. So, I cant remove it language support from GUI, can I do it manualy?
if I'll have to delete mozilla directory after years of using it, I'll leave FF and turn to Opera
Peng
Why can't you remove it from the GUI? Language packs are listed in the add-ons manager.
tedo
no, I cant
xangua
then disable it
tedo
Disable is gray, can't click to it
Peng
...
Maybe it was installed in the application directory rather than your profile?
I dunno.
tedo
all other extensions can be disabled/enabled/removed
Peng
Worst case you can cd to your extensions directory and rm -rf it. No big deal.
tedo
big deal, major deal for me
because of all those settings been there for years
xangua
tedo: how do you upgated┬┐
upgrated*
Peng
tedo: No, you just have to rm -rf the language pack.
tedo
Synaptic
xangua
upgraded* agg my english is not in good shape today :S
tedo: what distro┬┐
tedo
Peng: I can't because those extensions have no name as a name, but as a string
xuangua: Ubuntu 9.10 64-bit, but I was using same follder through meny distros
and I was never had such ...
Peng: I don't no which is language, and I'm using 36 exensions
Peng
tedo: It'll take a few minutes, but you can look through them and figure out what they are.
tedo: One of the other extension* files in your main profile will list them, too.
tedo
Peng: some master minds thought that string is more intuitive then words ;)
Peng
tedo: Firefox has long supported IDs that look like email addresses, actually.
tedo
Peng: went through all of them - did't found
Peng
tedo: Check the installation directory, too.
It's just a lot of major extensions are older than that, and they can't just change the ID.
tedo
Peng: than tell me the name if it's so intuitive
Peng
tedo: I said nothing of the sort.
And I do not know the name.
tedo
(Action) have bad english - sorry
Peng
I just meant that human-readable IDs *can* be used. Firefox is not going to drop support for the old GUIDs.
tedo
human-readable IDs are great, others are pain-in-*-*
if it's human-readable ID I'll have had no problem
"I'll have had" - uh!
I'll never learn eneglish gramatic
*english
Peng
Don't worry about it. Nobody knows English grammar. :P
tedo
I finally move .mozilla folder and started FF again
Why FF made two *.default folders?
two profiles
ok, profiles.ini pointed to the right one, but...
I don't understand why 2
maybe there was some process I didn't kill?
yes that's why
hm, I still have not compatible issue
so, there is some package installed, but I've checked before... there was nothing like it
I found it!
there is an package called language-pack-hr
it hase installed files in /usr/lib/firefox-addons/extensions/
*has
or have?
Peng: what do you use for OS?
cam
Hello, I am using firefox and my website is making connections to a couple other websites. I can see these connections inside FireFox's status bar and I am wondering how to reference them (Javascript/HTML). I tried, document.location.status but that didn't work, and I want to place the content of that status bar inside a div with a 1 second refresh. Ideas?
