Anybody knows what CMS http://www.mozilla.org is using?
Cenar
dtolj: The only thing I find out atm is it's a co-production of 2 firms named "Happy Cog Studios" and "silverorange Inc."
Peng
IIRC those are the web design companies involved...
dtolj is gone anyway, but the website should be in public source control.
dtolj
does mozilla.org run on some sort of cms? what is it?
Peng
Hello again. :D
dtolj
damn got disconnected
Peng
Wait, mozilla.org? I was thinking of mozilla.com.
dtolj: http://svn.mozilla.org/projects/mozilla.org/trunk/
dtolj
Peng: thanks
kbrosnan
dtolj: afik there is no cms behind mozilla.org

dtolj
yea I am just looking at it and can't seem to find any indication of that
kbrosnan
the core of the site dates back to before well developed cms software was common
site updates were handled via cvs patches. sometimes using a tool called doctor to allow people who normally would be scared of cvs to contribute to the site
Matisse
hi
i'm very confused
can somebody list me the reason why I'm still logged in somewhere although after closing firefox every cookie is deleted?
I reloaded that page, where I was logged when starting my firefox -> still logged in
nobody else using this IP would log in there (VERY low propability)
also cookies are needed for logging in
and I'm not using any auto-login tools
auscompgeek
It might be a stupid web site not using cookies for login information.
Matisse
well, actually it should, there are different user accounts
i test which account I'm on
kbrosnan
Matisse: site might make use of flash browser objects
Matisse
yesss!
thx!
I'll have a look... but wait
I'm also deleting them automatically
betterPrivacy lists no flash cookie...
kbrosnan
ah, ok
Matisse
damn... why is that and on the computer of my partner not?
well let me check something (different pc, same ip)
that "doesnt" work. there I'm not logged in...
auscompgeek
:S
Matisse
but the login is located somewhere else.. have to check (if not logged in on the same page there's no login-link)
well... got it
If there's a tab left for that website (secondlevel) then the cookies aren't deleted... this doesn't look like intended for me, rather than a bug
tab left = tab is saved (and reopened the next start)
Can somebody check that for me? Maybe a certain addon causes this behaviour
certain addon = i mean tab mix plus
djweezy
where is the platformHTMLBindings.xml in firefox 3.5.6 running on x86 linux located?
Peng
Dunno. I'd start with chrome/toolkit.jar or browser.jar.
djweezy
neither of those exist on my system
can i create them?
Peng
...They don't exist?
djweezy
negative
Peng
Where are you looking?
djweezy
.mozilla/firefox/sttz7tcq.default/chrome/
kbrosnan
they would be in the default install location
djweezy
Peng: is that the proper location?

kbrosnan
no
djweezy
/usr/lib/xulrunner-1.9.1/chrome/toolkit.jar
perhaps?
kbrosnan
looks correct
djweezy
Peng: alright so i got that opened but it doesnt contain the keybinding im trying to edit
i want quit to be ctrl-shift-q rather than ctrl-q
kbrosnan
keyconfig extension?
djweezy
kbrosnan: is there a version that works with ff3?
andy_t_roo
i've upgraded to fx 3.6, but now the "tabs open relative" addon isn't working. Is it possible to choose the location of a new tab without an addon (ideally i'd like to the right of the existing tab, unless i open two then the first one i open should be immediately to the right, then the second one) the tabs open relatve addon has this exact behavior.
kbrosnan
idk, have not use keyconfig since firefox 1 or so
andy_t_roo: that is the default behavior in 3.6
andy_t_roo
kbrosnan: can i make it so when i press ctrl+t to open a new tab also?
xangua
...
andy_t_roo
xangua: err, i ment next to the exiting tab, rather than at the end of the list ...
stevecam
i know im being a bit lazy here by not finding out for myself, but is the new firefox 3.6 just as buggy as the 3.5 version
andy_t_roo
stevecam: there is a long list of bug fixes between 3.6 and 3.5. is there anything specific you were wondering about.
stevecam
just general stability
andy_t_roo
stevecam: i havn't had it crash on me yet, and my first impression was that it is more responsive than 3.5
although i was about to ask a similer question:
stevecam
ok, i will have to give it a try
what question do you want to ask?
andy_t_roo
Firefox is using 100% of 1 cpu. i have a bunch of tabs, and a bunch of addons. is there any way to narrow down what the cause is?
stevecam
lol
that answers my question
andy_t_roo
(i got high cpu on occasion under 3.5 also, so my observation still stands, i can actually use 3.6 where i would have to force kil 3.5 :)
when this happened
stevecam
i had no problems with 3.0
andy_t_roo
i suspect some of my addons don't agree with each other.
but it is next to impossible to find anything more fine grained than "firefox"
stevecam
have you tried installing firefox 3.0?
andy_t_roo
stevecam: not recently, i tend to be more at the beta end of the spectrum :)
stevecam
i like to be like that too, but this 3.5 is just silliness
and by the sounds of it 3.6 is the same
andy_t_roo
i'll go and ask somewhere a little more technical about this :)
kbrosnan
stevecam: what do you mean by buggy?
andy_t_roo: new tab shortcut places it at the end of the tab stack currently
stevecam
kbrosnan, with firefox 3.0 it would work fine when i leave the web browser running for hours at a time, but with firefox 3.5 it will just becomes unresponsive if im writing a reply to someone on facebook or a forum for a few minutes
it will seem to work fine when i restart firefox but i dont want to have to do that every time it slows down
kbrosnan
assuming you use extensions, have you checked Firefox's safe mode for a day or so to check the behavior
andy_t_roo
ok, my high cpu problem was a couple of tabs directed at a specific site. any single tab uses 10% cpu or so, but all of them together were maxing it out :)
stevecam
i dont have extensions installed
they tend to get in the way
except for my ubuntu firefox modifications pack, but ive tried disabling that too
crespo
hi everybody
i have this problem with firefox opening pdf files
Cannot use Adobe Reader to view PDF in your web browser. Reader will now exit. Please exit your browser and try again.
i changed the file associations for all adobe acrobat docs to adobe 8.1(default) and now it works
my issue here is, i did this for one user on the computer..... how can i apply the same firefox changes to all users?
can i make changes to all users from one user?
[[thufir]]
is the plugin at http://www.alibaba.com/ legitimate? how do you know?
rjohnson19
[[thufir]]: Have a look at http://www.mywot.com/en/scorecard/alibaba.com - the score looks OK, but the comments suggest otherwise (as in, not legitimate). Where can this plugin be found?
hmmmm
any way to tone down firefox's overagressive memory cache?
crespo
guys how can i apply comman firefox settings for all local users?
for example, all pdf files should be opened using adbe 8.1 for all users
how can i set this for all users?
TheoMurpse
How can I get the height of an element with JavaScript if I've never set one via CSS before? Once a page loads, I do document.getElementById().style.height, but this is null at that point. What gives?
Cork
TheoMurpse: style.height will give you the css/style height of the element
if you haven't set one it will always be null
to get the calculated height just use .height
document.getElementById().height
TheoMurpse
Thanks cork. And for your future reference, it turns out gEBI().offsetHeight is what's required, not gEBI().height
Cork
thise arn't the same thing
TheoMurpse
Cork: I tried .height. The browser returned null for gEBI().height. I tried .offsetHeight and the browser returned the correct height oft he element.
Cork
TheoMurpse: heh i didn't mean that it wasn't the one you looked for, but .height returns calculated height, but it depends on ex. what element you use it on if it returns the correct height
TheoMurpse
I used it on a DIV.
In any case, it works now. Thanks!
vasser
hello
is there a built-in feature in FF to delete a certain form history ?
Peng
vasser: use the up and down arrows to select it, then Shift+Delete.
vasser
i know that i can delete it manually (for each field), just wondering if there was a feature to delete all data in a certain form
siimo
vasser: probably not but you can delete all data from a certain website
Peng
vasser: ...Hold Shift+Delete? :D
fornext
looking for a firefox addon, for website/domain filtering. Best with white- and blacklist and central configuration off many clients. Can someone give me an hint?
siimo
fornext: you are better off doing that at dns level
fornext
I have no access to that, siimo
what I founs so far, is "FoxFilter". But I have to update the clients filterklist for each client per hand.
siimo
dont think any firefox extension allows central configuration like that
maybe you can modify it so that the filter list is on a central network location
fornext
that would be possible, siimo, but there is a windows home edition installation. It allows only .... I think 4 connections at the same time.
The only location I can use, would be a website .... Is that possibkle?
crespo
guys ... do i need acrobat reader 7 if i have adobe acrobat 8 professional installed?
also, when i uninstall adobe reader 7, my firefox can't read pdfs
i hav to manually set the plugin to the new adobe acrobat 8
orly_owl
how do i move a tab to it's own window?
Cork
orly_owl: just drag the tab into the content area of the window
orly_owl
oh ok
will it always reload the page? :/
Cork
it shouldn't reload it, but it will rerender it
(the process indicator is for firefox rerendering it)
orly_owl
oh right
i thought it was loading
thanks
crespo
guys, how can i make firefox use adobe acrobat to open pdfs?
this should work for all users
Cenar
Hmm always the same problem, Firefox stores these settings in profile data...
crespo
Cenar
so, i cant do it for all users?
Cenar
Well, I think there should be a way
Where is your plugin stored?
crespo
i dont know
hehe
it's an app
that i uninstalled
Cenar
You use Windows?
crespo:
crespo
yes
Cenar
[11:24] <Cenar> You use Windows?
Or what else?
crespo what operating system do you use?
crespo
xp
windows
Cenar
Ok, so you should have a directory "plugins" in you firefox dir
crespo
yes
the problem is, i have acrobat 8 installed
it is adobe acrobat 8..not acrobat reader
andrewsd
hola
antii
i have a problem with my firefox for linux.. I can use the "Search" thing.
andrewsd
Was just wondering... anybody testing firefox-3.7_alpha1 ... any page with flash is crashing; Was wondering if anybody else here is being adventurous with unsupported builds and similar issues :)
Cenar
crespo: okay sorry overheared this, but afaik der should be a plugin for that too
DASPRiD
andrewsd, 3.7 was dropped in favor of 4.0, no?
Cenar
crespo: another question, do you manage to get it running for one user or not at all?
crespo
i can run for one
but not for all from one user
Cenar
crespo: okay, so you have a plugin for this one user, right?
DASPRiD: No, not yet
crespo
yes
Cenar
crespo: But this plugin is NOT saved in the directory I told you, right too?
crespo
which dir Cenar?
Cenar
crespo: Depends on installation, probably C:\Programs\Firefox\plugins or something like that
crespo
yews
i didnt copy it there
Cenar
So its somewhere in your User directory?
andrewsd: Flash works with me (Build 20100127031152)
crespo
Cenar
i did it
Cenar
crespo: ok, very good
crespo
just installed adobe reader 8
thank you very much
ur a lifesaver:)
ne0futur
hi all I installed the latest firefox version, and he s working but always printing warnings like :
Cenar
crespo: no problem, you're welcome (:
ne0futur
(firefox-bin:21255): libgnomevfs-WARNING **: Deprecated function. User modifications to the MIME database are no longer supported.
firefox needs gnome ? can I disable this gnome vfs thing and the warnings ?
Cenar
ne0futur: What desktop manager are you using?
ne0futur
windowmaker
and sometimes kde or gnome when i have enough RAM
but mainly windowmaker
i try to save RAM, firefox is already using too much RAM ;(
Cenar
Did you try whether there are warnings if you start it @ gnome?
