hi
personas don't work in my ff 3.5.6 under linux, only the status bar changes, not the main toolbar background. what could be the problem? has anyone seen this too?

is this the right # to ask about things like... ###!!! ASSERTION: Failed to initialize nsScriptSecurityManager: 'NS_SUCCEEDED(rv)', file nsScriptSecurityManager.cpp, line 3455

Just wanted to say I love 3.6. Good job :D

(i need to run it with -safe-mode and then disable the addon to `fix' this)
and i had to build it with logging (--enable-logging i think) to get that, otherwise it would print nothing on stdio, just wouldnt start
edman007
Are there any patches for firefox 3.6 that can get me H.264 support? I want support for it, and I don't care about other issues...so is there a patch out there to add support? Now please don't kill me

KristopherWindso
hello!! any idea how long it takes to get a persona approved after i've submitted it?
Snares
KristopherWindso: Just a random guess, but I'd say probably 3 days...72 hours is usually a standard cooldown period...
KristopherWindso: They would have to use a human + AI checker to make sure that you aren't using copyright or illegal images.
KristopherWindso
hm, that much work? :o i mean, with thousands of personas, i didn't think they would look at them for very long ;)
Snares
KristopherWindso: They wouldn't. But that's exactly why it might take 3 days :P
KristopherWindso: With all the thousands of submissions, they probably have a slightly backed up schedule.
KristopherWindso
well, ok :P i guess i'll stop searching for my persona in the gallery every ten minutes :)
Snares
KristopherWindso: Hah, no I am sure it would take at the very least, 6-12 hours.
KristopherWindso
ok ;)
Snares
I personally would like to see a persona with more gradients. All the ones that are out now have too many vertices and color variances for my tastes :P
They don't flow very well, imo.
FunkyBob
morning
I've got an up-to-date checkout of mozilla-central and it fails to compile bitcing about -fPIC... is this the right place to ask for help, or should I jump networks?
Peng
You should probably jump networks.
Umm...what's the name of the irc.mozilla.org channel for this? #build?

jitto
hi. does anyone know how the heck to get .rar files to save automatically? I've changed it to "download" yet I still get popup with option to "do this from now on" grayed out. am i missing some kind of a security about:config setting?
FunkyBob
jitto: there's no tick box for "always do this"?
jitto
there is but its disabled/grayed out
seriously, why can't i make firefox just save the damn file
James____
Hi, anyone know on linux how I can trust my own cert so when i visit my own site I dont get the ssl error every time?
Peng
James____: Doesn
Erk
James____: Doesn't the warning page give you an option to whitelist it?
James____
yeah but when I do that where does it copy the file?
or how does it do it
i also need to whitelist in chrome on linux but no option there yet
Tecan
can someone help me out with drag and dropping pictures to a folder /
i tried every hotkey combo i could think of but it tried to do thw whole website
mathi
hi
I open a .txt file in Firefox, and instead of the accents like é, à, ... I have strange symbols
it's a UTF-8 file without BOM, and displayed properly in Notepad++
Peng
mathi: Tried View -> Character Encoding?
dimm
hi gyuz, did you see/hear me?
Peng
No, but the government can!
Tecan
WHAT
dimm
Peng: ok! :) i ask becouse i ask the qestion a lot of time ago, and only now i see message from Service, that i must register in service for talk at this channel. So my question was be about "changing default audio device for flash plugin in firefox". Is Firefox use OS default audio device as default firefox default audio device? Also can i change audio device only for flash plugin instead OS?
Peng
Yeah, this channel is +R due to Freenode's recent abuse issues.
Sorry, I've got no idea about how Firefox and Flash handle sound (and note that it may not be the same).
plouf
ghello
any idea
why a spesific 'new" url point on mozilaa elsewher e than other clients ?
specifically a new no-ip subdomain
resolves correct with ping -a
ip from firefox goes corrent
ip+no-ip subdomain form opera/ie goes coreect
but no-ip from firefox opens a strange page
Peng
Maybe some, but not all, of your DNS servers know the new IP, and Firefox was unlucky enough to get the old one?
Firefox also has an internal DNS cache -- try again?
plouf
its from yesterday
only 1 dns server configured...
how can i flush ff internar cache ?
Peng
AIUI, it only caches for a few minutes, so it should have already been flushed. :P
What's the "strange page" you get?
plouf
http://searchportal.information.com/?o_id=94081&domainname=plouf.no-ip.org
Peng
Oh, fun.
Type in some jibberish website, www.sdgljdlfglj.com or whatever, in Firefox and another browser. What do you get?
plouf
all other pages are correct
in both browsers
found a way t oflush cahce
fasterfox plugin had this ability
its ok now
Peng
Huh.
plouf
but should be a way to flush without plugin ..
Peng
(Action) shrugs
It's not commonly necessary.
plouf
but it may happen
and should be an option
....IT called for not loading pages...
have to had a way to fush it

how do I downgrade firefox to the latest 3.5?
Baylink
Anyone got a pointer on where to find extension creation tips/tutorials, or where people prone to such stuff hang out? My sister came up with a pretty good idea, and I'm not sure someone hasn't already done it, but I couldn't find it...

anyone know why java is not working in v3.6pre?

3.6 pre¿¿¿ firefox 3.6 was released two days ago

actually it's 3.6.1pre

use stable¿¿

i don't really need java, i was just wondering why it's not working
rjohnson19
If you are on Linux, I think you need to symlink the "next gen" plugin and not the oji one.
xaos3k
okay, i'll try some things, thx

anybody else having issues with 3.6.1pre in ubuntu ? I can't get it bookmark any site (or load bookmark files).... very frustrating
hmmmm... wait, just erased my .mozilla dir and now i have bookmarks :-/

i use firefox to access some webpages which is only available to our office network, they all begin http://eni/
how can i get that location in terms of x:\ or even an ip address?
*are
pisecx
Guys! I have found about:memory url in firefox and now I'm interesting in all possible about:xxx urls in firefox. Is there the list of all defined special urls?
brlancer
laeg: if it's using http, Firefox would know about a file path (x:\); to get the IP, you're likely better to use some Operating System tool. What OS are you using?
pisecx: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/About_URI_scheme#Mozilla-specific_about:_addresses
pisecx: I search google for "mozilla about uri" and found it
pisecx: and here's the Mozilla KB article on it: http://kb.mozillazine.org/About_protocol_links
laeg
brlancer: win xp
pisecx
brlancer: thanks man!
brlancer
laeg: open a command terminal (Start->Run-> type "command") and at the command prompt, type "ping eni" (if not "eni", whatever the site you access in Firefox)
laeg
brlancer: i did a net view, it would be painstaking to ping every server it returns
caution
what's the download link for firefox 3.5?
laeg
brlancer: excellent thanks
brlancer: i'll try that now in the socks wrapper
brlancer
pisecx: you're welcome, pass it along
laeg
trying to force my work connections to stop using my proxy
brlancer
laeg: I don't believe Firefox cache's the IP anywhere to look up a whole bunch
laeg
brlancer: i have another system
longer address
crap
still won't allow me to access the sites begininng http://eni/
works when the site beings with an ip address
brlancer
laeg: How are you using the socks proxy? Have you configured it in Firefox's network settings or are you running the socks wrapper and launching Firefox from/within that?
laeg
brlancer: http://www.boards.ie/vbulletin/showthread.php?t=2055803732
the above outline why i don't just use a simple firefox proxy switching tool
putty ssh tunnel to open ssh
then firefox with socks wrapper
take a look at my post, screenshots and everything :)
brb
brlancer: when using the socks wrapper it appears i need to set my proxy tool to use 'none'
this allows flash to function
brlancer
laeg: ok, I'm now confused what you're looking to solve here; do you want to access local network websites without sending them through the socks proxy?
laeg: I think you would find it easier to run two browser instances; one for everything thru the socks proxy and one for local work sites
I do that rather than trying to manage individual networks in my socks configs
caution
what's the download link for firefox 3.5?
laeg
brlancer: yes on want to access local network websites without sending them through the socks proxy
and within the same browser use my work proxy for work, home proxy for private stuff
i can do this easily with firefox addons that allow me to automate it or manually switch either proxy BUT because flash ignores the proxy settings within firefox and connectes directly it block port 9339
brlancer
laeg: I get why you're using the socks wrapper
laeg
brlancer: there is a program http-tunnel client, but it's not freeware and i'm concerned about the mediator servers they use
brlancer :)
it would be so much easier if the sockswrapper would just let me specify one ip/address port to use for the proxy and put everything else on the work proxy/direct
brlancer
laeg: does it allow you to specify IPs/networks to not proxy?
laeg
yes
i've been trying all sorts of things
if i knew what to put in ip/network that would encompass the entire network it would be great
office net that is
brlancer
and Firefox works if you specify the IP http://xxx.xxx.xxx.xxx/ ?
laeg
i'll give examples of the ones that do work
http://10.40.8.17:8080/boots/index.jsp
http://bork.eircom.net:8000/
http://nbbs-ems.eircom.net:7005/ems/login.jsp
although the last very slowly
brlancer
ok, but are those last two on your local network?
laeg
i don't understand
how do i check?
brlancer
laeg: earlier you said you could reach a local site by IP but not by hostname
laeg
yes
the first one i linked, i never use hostname to get it
brlancer
ok, but what about something you do use hostname to get to; does it work by IP?
laeg
brlancer: when i connect normally using the work proxy?
brlancer: or when i'm trying the socks wrap
brlancer: nslookup bork.eircom.net?
brlancer
let's start over
you're in one location and trying to use 2 proxies to access stuff in 2 locations
correct?
laeg
brlancer: yes
brlancer
Are you also trying to access stuff without using either proxy?
laeg
brlancer: no, but it seems that's the only way to get the socks wrapper to work
alesan
hi how do I enable the fact that I can paste a URL in the page and it is loaded?
laeg
when i have no proxy selected in firefox
when the socks wrapper launched firefox neither proxy works
kbrosnan
about:config, middlemouse.contentLoadURL
laeg
that is, unless i tell switch proxy to use no proxy
which seems to then make firefox use the socks wrapper using my home proxy
brlancer
laeg: if you're using an external socks wrapper, you don't want to use Firefox's internal proxy
The external socks wrapper needs to know what networks you want to access via each socks proxy
and which proxy (or none) that you want to default to for networks you did not specify
alesan
thanks
Pendrag0n
hmm, I have a bookmark toolbar at home, but now I am going to be working from home allot, and I want different toolbars, etc, can I easily set up a "work profile" and then switch profiles?
laeg
brlancer: so can i find an ip or hostname for the network here?
net view returns many... what look like servers to me and hosts
Pendrag0n
laeg: do you mean for this channel?
laeg
?
there is no net view command in my irssi
