is there an addon that will allow me or some efficient way to temporarily use my home bookmarks and/or home stored passwords on firefox installed on a hdd at work but not leaving them there
i mean, other than installing and removing my profile each day? usb key/cd not an option
xangua
laeg: a portable password manager¿ portableapps.com
kbrosnan
weave, but you would need to delete the profile every day. it also does not do partial syncs
Patero-ng
a password manager on a website
that smells like a conspiracy
remember Gatoor it adversited as allowing you to store you password for easy retrievel years later it was labeled as a spyware
xangua
Patero-ng: portableapps is not a pasword manager, is a site where you can find.......portable apps
Patero-ng

hello, i need to copy cookies from one page to another
and i don't know how. anybody here know?
laeg
Patero-ng: it's unlikely i'll ever put my passwords on a website, i won't even use a web based IM client tbh
Patero-ng
if ur using msn

laeg
be very weary

my im passwords are all 16 characters, cryptic and different
that's the best i can do
Patero-ng
i save all my password in a zip drive formatted with linux

laeg
tbh i trust ms and google with my im passwords far more than a random website altruistically offering to help me remember them
Patero-ng
with 6TB key
laeg
i didn't know you could encrypt them to that extent :)
Patero-ng
encrypted on ur phone?
laeg
not to 6TB
Patero-ng
you already handed ur password to the elite

how so?

I've Thunderbird 3 and have 2 email accounts one having "junk" as the spam folder and the other having "Spam" as the spam folder. How can I make them display under the >Junk tree?
because it's displaying the "Spam" folder seperately with a folder icon and not the junk folder icon
kbrosnan
Fernandos: #thunderbird is on irc.mozilla.org

What is the difference between personas and themes?

Is there any way to download FF2 from the mozilla.org site? I'm having extreme difficulty finding it.
Patero-ng

andersbr
Indeed.
Patero-ng

andersbr
Not exactly.
Patero-ng
on a cd from 04
andersbr
Every link that claims to go to Firefox 2 ends up going to a page that has a wide variety of 3.5 downloads.
Patero-ng
are you novice
you can find 2.0 from mozila old reelases I think
not need to go 3rd parties
helllo oliva
rjohnson19
andersbr: You can get old versions from ftp://archive.mozilla.org/pub/firefox/releases/
Patero-ng
they may had changed the code
source
and u end up with IE
andersbr
rjohnson19: Thanks!
Patero-ng
:/
rjohnson19
I assume you're aware of the implications of using a version thats been EOL'd for so long.
Patero-ng
I use firefox for windows 98
zinox
there is anyway to remove panel where has menus >> tools files views history help
?
andersbr
rjohnson19: It does worry me. But there isn't much else to do, except maybe switch everyone over to Safari. I'm not sure that would even work.
FANDER
FF is totally open source right?
andersbr
FF3+ won't work on older macs.
rjohnson19
zinox: There is on 3.6, or via an extension
zinox
rjohnson19 what extension?
rjohnson19
zinox: Its called Hide Menubar :D https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/addon/4762
kbrosnan
FANDER: the code is fully open source, the name Mozilla Firefox is trademarked and the logo is (c) the Mozilla Foundation
zinox
oooohhhhh thanks a lot

did firefox change the functionality of new tabs? I'm used to new tabs opening up at the very end... did they change it so it's similar to chrome tabs?
kbrosnan
yes
flyinprogramer
wondering if anyone uses thunderbird with lightning extention - I'm trying to make the height of the All Day Events boxes smaller and cannot seem to do it, i know this is off topic - i was hoping there might be firefox users out there who use thunderbird and lightning add-on
so yah. was wondering how to accomplish that
kbrosnan
#thunderbird and #calendar are on irc.mozilla.org

roh
hi there
auscompgeek
hello roh
d1b
good morning so how much did ff3.6 break bookmarks?
roh
i was searching for a patch or plugin to handle all html5 stuff with gstreamer. ff3.5 is pretty much useless with video tags only supporting ogg for me (and its dead slow compared to gst decoding)
auscompgeek
d1b, 3.6 did *not* break bookmarks
d1b, what gave you that idea anyway?
rjohnson19
d1b: Disable or update Torbutton, I am betting you have it.
roh
yes ive read quite some discussions about politics when it comes to html5, but to be fair i am not interrested in politics from a user pov. then one just wants stuff to work. gst seems like the technical and politically most favourable way, since then its not mozillas problem where the codec is from
d1b
rjohnson19: is it the tor button?
nar it fixed
but there have been about 3-4 people on irc asking about it
and for every person on irc....
rjohnson19
See https://wiki.mozilla.org/index.php?title=Releases/Firefox_3.6/RRRT#Data_Migration_or_Loss
d1b
ah i see
kbrosnan
roh: http://robert.accettura.com/blog/2009/07/06/debating-ogg-theora-and-h-264/
d1b
that's good. ... ish
so user will see an update for their extension and update it frixing it ?
fixing*
kbrosnan
it was just you and one other person so far
roh
kbrosnan i know the political bs. not interrested. not at all. my system has working cvideo codecs so its NOTthe browser-manufs licence problem at all (which is not debated there)
so there is no licensing needed
kbrosnan
bullsh*t
d1b
kbrosnan: on irc...
roh
reality. you dont need a license for totem. it doesnt have a single codec in there. it just uses gst. and its ubuntus or whoevers problem to deliver or not the codec and not yours.
d1b
kbrosnan: irc isn't a particullary good measure of how many got affected.
kbrosnan
what you believe and what high priced lawers will do to mozilla if they ship a browser that can decode h.264 are two diffent things
roh
kbrosnan these lawyers NEVER discussed anything besides including the codec to play with the sw.
