Hiho!
carl-m
using firefox 3.5.6, has anyone here found a way to close all tabs so there are no tabs open?
tcccp
^Q?
hehe
carl-m
I would prefer ways that do not require me to install a different browser
tcccp
What's your OS?
carl-m
linux
tcccp
You want a window without any open tabs?
carl-m
right
tcccp
errr
(Action) bails out

dolske
carl-m: right-click on a tab, Close Other Tabs is close.
actually, I guess that's exactly it, since closing the last tab closes the window.
HackeMate
hello?
hello
carl-m
the close option is greyed out for the alst tab

i try to watch a video from a website, i tried it in 3 computers with debian lenny and all get a crash
it works with other browsers though
is there a way to run a debug or read a log to get a clue about what could happen?
Cork[home]
HackeMate: its most likly the flash or one of your codec plugins
did you get the crash reporter?
HackeMate
yes i did, but i am curious now
Cork[home]
goto about:crashes
copy the top link in here
HackeMate
pf, so sorry Cork[home], i tried to reproduce the error again but this computer has no that problem, i tried to run the laptop but it runs debian etch, the others computers where i found the issue are in another city

By the way - is there any chance that firefox stays on his Desktop (Gentoo, xfce4) even if it reloads etc.?
On my desktops firefox moves to the currently active window
's/window$/desktop/'
Digicrime
is firefox 3.5.7 higher then 3.7?
Peng
No.
Wait, what does "higher" mean?
Digicrime
higher in number
peng: higher in number
i guess it is
gavin
no it isn't
3.7 > 3.5.7 > 3.0.17 > 2.0.0.18
Digicrime
are you sure?
gavin
yes
Digicrime
hmm
Peng
7 > 5
Digicrime
i guess this version is better right now
since 3.7 was said to be experimental...

gavin
3.7 doesn't exist
some builds labeled as 3.7a1pre exist
but that's just because we needed to give them a number
and 7 comes after 6
Digicrime
well we had it
then we downgraded to 3.5.7
gavin
3.5.7 is the latest released version
if you use anything newer than that, you're wading into dangerous territory :)

when i click on an .m3u link i only get a window that says: /tmp/playlist-2.m3u could not be opened, because the associated helper application does not exist. Change the association in your preferences.
when i go into edit->prefs->applications there isn't an association for m3u. no m3u item exists. how do i add it to the list?

anyone know why firefox won't respect content-type: text/xml on one computer, but does on another computer?
on one of my machines it just displays the element values concatenated together...

My scroll bar chevrons are not working?

Hi guys. I have a webpage, that I use my windows domain credentials to sign on to. When I open it in IE I am not even asked for my credentials (it can look it up somehow). But FF asks me about it - why is this?
bushwakko
Hey, anyone else noticed that both search bar, and bookmarks won't open anything on the few latest nightlies of minefield?
Accesshater
nope
bushwakko
I'm using a mac btw
clicking enter in the search field doesn't do anything
also clicking a bookmark does't open anything
Accesshater
have you tried it in safemode bushwakko?
bushwakko
nope
kbrosnan
it is a good first troubleshooting step http://support.mozilla.com/en-US/kb/Basic+troubleshooting
if safe mode does not help then give a new profile a try

I don't get what i just did in firefox
I missclicked somewhere
maybe enar the tab bar, or by the navigation bar or somethign
maybe twice,
and all of a sudden my window loads about 9 tabs of various sites i've visited recently
but not today
just random sites i've visited
and I don't normally use tabs, but still
not that strange that they pop up as tabs i guess
no add-on i have would do this
one my my homepage for youtube, another was a blog i occasionly visit, two of htem were searches for newegg, which was a bit weird,
another was e-mail login, and another was yahoo answers homepage
i don't see what any of those had in common
didn't do all that today, they're not all bookmarked,
oh right
i should have experimented more
if i middle mouse click "most visited"
they automaticcaly each load in a tab for some reason
thank god it's only 9 pages
even though I'd say they aren't my most visited
hiptobecubic
Hey all, firefox started regularly crashing today and I'm wonder how to investigate what's going on. It is guaranteed to crash at sites like gmail, but will crash anywhere after awhile... including when there are no tabs open. I've tried switching firefox versions, running in safe-mode, removing my ~/.mozilla folder and running the 3.6-rc2 beta with no luck.

Hi, guys
How can i get backup of my bookmarks on windows 7 (system is crashed, i'm already on livecd of ubuntu)
hiptobecubic
localh0st, http://support.mozilla.com/en-US/kb/Profiles#Windows_Vista_and_7
localh0st, should be in there somewhere
localh0st
i know, but cataloge called as "Appdata/roaming" is... not available under livecd?
hiptobecubic
I have an strace of the crash if anyone can see anything in it. http://pastebin.ca/1759164
localh0st, not really familiar with it sorry
rreyes
Hi all... is there any reason why i get a security warning when trying to access https://clientportal.primaryinsight.com/?
it gives me none on Chrome and IE8
ader10
What is FF's default margin if none is specified?
Cork[home]
ader10: you mean css margin?
ader10
Yes
Cork[home]
depends on the element
many don't have one
some like P do
ader10
For forms
<form>
xMDKx
hey, I'm new on "firefox development"... I must modify an existing patch from firefox 3.5 to use on he latest firefox (3.6rc2), but I'm getting errors with ReplaceSubstring member. Anyone can help me?
ader10
What is FF's default <form> margin if none is specified?
Cork[home]
ader10: default margin for form elements are 0
ader10
What is the bottom white blank coming from here? http://acorn.heliohost.org/bad.html
Cork[home]
same with border and padding
ader10
If the form's margin-bottom is set to 0, the blank goes away, but no margin is inherited or set for form
Well, no bottom margin
hiptobecubic
that's quite a border you've got there
Cork[home]
ader10: your running without doctype
ader10
Would that change it?
Cork[home]
adding a <!doctype ...> at the first line
http://htmlhelp.com/tools/validator/doctype.html
Accesshater
<!DOCTYPE HTML PUBLIC "-//W3C//DTD HTML 4.01//EN" "
Cork[home]
a page without a doctype will be rendered in querk mode, and that won't even render as you expect :)
rreyes
can someone help me with my security certificate issue?
Cork[home]
rreyes: can you restarte your question?
ader10
Why would a bottom margin come out of nowhere even in quirk mode?
Mango
Hi. I have a machine on which Firefox crashes 3-5 times a day. The event viewer states "Faulting module xul.dll". OS is Windows XP Professional with all the latest updates.
rreyes
sure... is there any reason why i get a security warning when trying to access https://clientportal.primaryinsight.com/?
Mango
I have the same problem as http://support.mozilla.com/tiki-view_forum_thread.php?comments_parentId=135145&forumId=1 but the solutions reported there did not work.
Cork[home]
ader10: cause querk mode is made to render old old broken pages correctly
rreyes
there it is Cork[home]
Cork[home]
rreyes: checking
rreyes
thanks, man
ader10
Cork[home]: rreyes: Thanks, <!doctype html> fixed it
Cork[home]
rreyes: i'm not completly sure about this, but i think the link to the root cert is missing
rreyes
how can I see where the link to the root cert is pointing to, Cork[home]?
Cork[home]
if you click add exception
in that dialog click get certificat
then view
rreyes
well, I have no problem seeing it
Cork[home]
thats not the problem
the issuer has to match a cert in firefox cert store
else you have a self signed cert
and thats what its warning for
rreyes
well, it does... the issuer is: CN = Network Solutions Certificate Authority
O = Network Solutions L.L.C.
C = US
Cork[home]
rreyes: the name isn't enough
i'm checking exactly what has to match right now, i'n not sure where this is listed in firefox
rreyes
thank you so much, Cork[home]
Cork[home]
don't thank me yet, certs is complicated things to debug :/
rreyes
just so that you know, it shows no issues on chrome
Cork[home]
rreyes: chrome uses windows session store
so it might be the root cert ins't included in firefox
rreyes
right
Cork[home]
or its from en intermediet cert
and firefox doesn't download those
rreyes
in IE8 I can see there are several linked certificates
Cork[home]
hmm, then its probably intermediet cert problems >_>
rreyes
UserTrust >> UTN-USERFirst-Hardware >> Network Solutions Certificate Authority >> clientportal.primaryinsight.com
that is the chain of certificates
I see no UserTrust in FF authorities certificates
there is a The USERTRUST Network group, though
Cork[home]
rreyes: thats not the chain, your cert is pointing to network solution
i can't see why its not connection though
*connecting
rreyes
Cork[home]: I am getting this from openssl: http://piratepad.net/dKSiIi44vc
SuspectZero
hmm this is weird. i cant run videos on firefox and vlc on my gentoo install at the same time
well the video plays but no audio on which ever one i open second
aliva
hi! is is there any light and portable web browser for windows which supports firefox addons?
xangua
firefox portable
¿¿
aliva
It takes a lot of ram (for 512 or less)
huh?
hiptobecubic
SuspectZero, not a firefox issue. One of them is taking control of your sound card and then the other can't access it.
Cork[home]
aliva: firefox and seamonkey are the only browsers supporting xul addons
SuspectZero
hiptobecubic, ah i see, any way to work around that?
hiptobecubic
SuspectZero, I don't know much about sound, but try asking in #alsa
xangua
Cork[home]: i heard of a browser that uses trident, gecko and webkit that also supports firefox addons
SuspectZero
hiptobecubic, yep just did. ty
hiptobecubic
Are there any linux users in here that are having trouble with firefox crashing on javascript heavy sites? Gmail kills mine every time and I can't see what's going on here. Seamonkey has the same problem. (chrome doesn't at the moment).
SuspectZero
hiptobecubic, have u tried using noscript?
Cork[home]
no, i don't have any problems
hiptobecubic
SuspectZero, sure, but that's not really a solution.
SuspectZero
i use firefox on gentoo and i dont have that problem
hiptobecubic
It just started for me. Just yesterday
aliva
Cork[home]: sure? becuase i have tested flock, too! but it takes more ram
Cork[home]
aliva: flock IS firefox, just branded and extended
xangua
aliva: lunascape is only for windows http://tinyurl.com/y995yvq
it uses gecko, webkit & trident O_o
Cork[home]
how is that more effisient?
it sounds line a construction so you can always use the engin the site is expecting
