hey all
is there a way to send my friends a firefox plugin?
kbrosnan
merma: firefox cck should be cross platform
skydrome
Firefox isnt loading the libflashplayer.so appearently
kbrosnan
is it listed in about:plugins ?
skydrome
about:plugins only shows java
and vlc...
kbrosnan
where did you extract the file to?

skydrome
.mozilla/plugins
/usr/lib/mozilla/plugins
kbrosnan
flash tends to behaive poorly when in the path more than once. addtionally check that gnash, swfdec, and libflash are not installed as they may conflict
skydrome
im on amd64 if that matters or not
kbrosnan
you just need to make sure that the plugin is x64 and that Firefox is x64
skydrome
im using this - http://download.macromedia.com/pub/labs/flashplayer10/flashplayer10_1_p2_linux_121709.tar.gz
kbrosnan
the x64 plugin is only listed at labs.adobe.com, though some distros may package the x64 plugin for linux
afik that is only 32 bit
adobe has not released a 10.1 x64 build
you need the 10.0 alpha x64 plugin
skydrome
oh jeez, i was under the impression it was universal
gotcha, thank you kbrosnan

is there some way to make popups open in new tabs? i cant find an extension that does so...
kbrosnan
tabmix plus or tabkit should be able to do that, though popups that are not set to a specific size or have hidden ui elements should open in a new tab
merma
kbrosnan, can i use firefox cck to make a custom build package for linux?
kbrosnan
merma: http://kaply.com/weblog/tag/enterprise/ http://kaply.com/weblog/tag/cck/ cover the cck tools caplabilities

_u2pop_
hi all
i want to know if firefox have a temporaly files ?
like they save pictures...
for temporarly?
Peng
_u2pop_: Yes?
_u2pop_
Peng where?
Peng
_u2pop_: Why do you care?
_u2pop_
because i closed the firefox
and now i dont find the pictures i seen before
so i want to know if they saved for temprarly
Peng
_u2pop_: They might be in the disk cache, or might not.
_u2pop_: The location is listed in about:cache (put it in the location bar), but it's not particularly designed for extracting things.
_u2pop_: If you don't want to open Firefox, you can, um, Google it.
_u2pop_
thx Peng
kbrosnan
chiiph: delete the extension folder from the profile and delete extensions.rdf, .ini, .log

evil_gordita
Or you could just start Firefox in Safe Mode which disables extensions. I know that at least on Windows, the installer should have created an icon for it.
_u2pop_
Peng didnt find how to save password in hotmail with firefox?
:/
kbrosnan
hotmail uses autocomplete=off
you can try the folowing, https://www.squarefree.com/bookmarklets/forms.html drag the remember passwords button to the bookmarks toolbar
visit hotmail, press it onece and your password should be remembered
themiddleman
what was that thing called where firefox could get an image from xml, the image is stored as text in the file
kbrosnan
data uri
_u2pop_
kbrosnan didnt worked that
:/
dios_mio
what i hate most about firefox is its last used addresses bar
why cant it be like IE?
Cork
last used?
dios_mio: explain the function your missing instead
or function you would like to NOT have
dios_mio
you know the address bar? and there is a scroll down button on its right?
Cork
scroll down??
dios_mio
and it will show you the mosst used web links there... but in IE it would show the most recently used addresses.. i think thats more useful
Cork
you mean the dropdown?
dios_mio
dropdown yes
Cork
ok
http://kb.mozillazine.org/Browser.urlbar.default.behavior
play around with that one
8+16 should be what your looking for
dios_mio: ^
dios_mio
cork!!! thanks man :)
you looked it up for me, thanks..
fedorauser162
ugh why is firefox lagging so much...
Cork
firefox is MUCH more configurable then ie is, so...
dios_mio
cork yes :)
Cork
fedorauser162: try Vacuum your history/bookmarks, in Tools -> Error Console, paste Components.classes["@mozilla.org/browser/nav-history-service;1"].getService(Components.interfaces.nsPIPlacesDatabase).DBConnection.executeSimpleSQL("VACUUM");
fedorauser162
Cork, and hit evaluate?
Cork
ya
you won't get any visiual feedback
fedorauser162
oh
Cork
but the places.sqlite will be optimized
and it usually give a nice boost
fedorauser162
hmm
its a little bit faster
Cork
eslecially on windows
fedorauser162
but clicking on a tab takes forever
Cork
fedorauser162: try firefox safe mode
it might be one of your extensions
_u2pop_
Cork is they are some way for my firefox be more faster?
damn when i start typing the www
they get freeze for few secs long
:/
and they open the adresses links
and get more few secs too
Cork
_u2pop_: sounds like your computer can't handle the database lookups
you could reduce the size of your history
change the number of urls listed as a result when you type
fedorauser162
Cork, is an extension diff from an addon?
Cork
or try the vacuum
fedorauser162: addons are extensions and plugins
extensions are what you use to add functions to firefox; plugins is like flash, java and media
_u2pop_
<Cork> fedorauser162: try Vacuum your history/bookmarks, in Tools -> Error Console, paste Components.classes["@mozilla.org/browser/nav-history-service;1"].getService(Components.interfaces.nsPIPlacesDatabase).DBConnection.executeSimpleSQL("VACUUM");
i did that and i got freezed
lol
Cork
_u2pop_: thats a good sign that your database needs vacuuming
just let it work
_u2pop_
i didnt closed it..
is freezed i will wait
if they back..
Cork
shouldn't take more then a few seconds at worst
_u2pop_
Cork before when i got error or i closed with task manager the firefox
and i open the firefox back they show in one window all the last pages was opened
now didnt show it :/
Cork
you mean you lost your last session?
_u2pop_
yeah
okey freezed removed
Cork
check about:sessionrestore
(thats the page firefox usually show after a crash)
_u2pop_
yeah
Cork
it will let you see whats in your session bak file
_u2pop_
that didnt show it
k
Cork
then your session is lost :/
_u2pop_
how to turn on?
and when i click firefox get too long for be opened
i dunno why :/
maybe my ram suck ?
heh

<Cork> change the number of urls listed as a result when you type
when can i do that?
Cork
about:config => search for browser.urlbar.maxRichResults
_u2pop_
lol
12
i put 3 now
:P
Peng
My places.sqlite is really large. I'm afraid to try vacuuming it.
@1
Erk, irssi fail. :)
_u2pop_
Cork give me another vacun
:P
ehc
where are the search engines stored? (refering to the search engine options in the upper right corner)
Cork
ehc: are you trying to add custom made engins?
ehc
Cork: well, not really. i want to delete them, and edit their config files
Cork
well the search engins are stored in your profile
in search.sqlite i think it was
http://kb.mozillazine.org/Unable_to_search_or_add_new_engines
Peng
But there are also the XML files, no?
They're both necessary.
Cork
yup the files are stored in the searchplugins folder in you profile
ehc
Cork: okay
Callek
[reed]: ironically al isn't here, or in #mozilla-qa or in irc.m.o/#qa after that post I'd think he would want to stick around for just a bit...
ehc
Cork: do you know where in linux there is a dir that contains the search plugins for all users? i think i have seen it before and right now my profile doesn't have a searchplugins dir
Peng
ehc: <Firefox install>/searchplugins
ehc
Peng: hmm, not exactly sure where that would be.
Cork
/usr/share/ubufox/searchplugins
you said you used ubuntu right?
ehc
linux mint
Cork
:s
goto /usr
and type => find -iname searchplugins
ehc
great!

Hi
I want to know how firebug can have a different source code plz ?
Accesshater
V1k1n9 firebug also shows the generated html by javascript
and the regular source viewer doesnt
V1k1n9
Ok :)
I want to capture it in a file, do you think it was possible ?
Accesshater
maybe
if you open the inspect tool in firebug
select <html>
and copy the innerhtml
or the html
V1k1n9
Yeah but i need to do that automatically so ... with a command line maybe ? :p
Accesshater
hurr :p
well i dont know V1k1n9 :x
maybe there are other addons that specialize in html source
or you have to wait till someone arrives who can answer your question :p
V1k1n9
:)
Didi you know if that technique have a name ?
Accesshater
hmm V1k1n9 there is also a javascript versions of firebug
maybe you can do something with that and add custom javascript to rip the sauce
V1k1n9
Yeah that will be quite hard :p
For the moment i will try to use elinks and spidermonkey :s
Accesshater
k
btw
you could try irc.mozilla.org #firefox
maybe they have an answer
V1k1n9
ok thx
tuner
