Cork[home]
g__: never seen one that can pause the loading
Fezzler
Ah Ha!
Cork[home]
you can edit the loaded page with firebug, but thats it
Fezzler
There are two <hash>default files in there
and a profiles.ini
Cork[home]
if you cat the profiles.ini
one of the profiles should have a "Default=1" line
Fezzler
YEs
Cork[home]
thats the profile your after
g__
Cork[home]: yeah, an inline debugger would be nice ;)
Fezzler
Plus the <hash>default file in the ini is not the one we've been working with but the other one

Cork[home]
g__: that would be firebug
lol
Fezzler: that explains alot :)
Fezzler
Cork>> Now what kind sir
Cork[home]
go to the correct default profile this time :)
Fezzler
Cork>> I told you my Spidey sense was there were two ini or something
:)
Cork[home]
and change prefs.js to prefs.bak
Fezzler
Cork>> For WHICH <hash>default directory?
Cork>> Remember, there are two?
Cork[home]
in your profiles.ini , the one with the default=1
the path is in the ini file
Fezzler
ok
g__
Cork[home]: yeah but i need to be able to breakpoint, change variable value, then continue
Cork[home]
g__: breakpoint the page load first time around is a problem, but you can set a breakpoint and trigger it next time you reload the page
Fezzler
Cork>> Done
Cork>> .js to .bak
Cork[home]
Fezzler: now lets try starting firefox again
Fezzler
Cork>> V I C T O R Y!
Cork>> Now what?
Cork>> Delete that other directory?
Cork[home]
ok, now comes the tough choice
Fezzler
OOPS
Cork[home]
eather lose your old settings (don't do anything more with your old prefs.bak)
Fezzler
Cork>> But it has Google has my HomePage sticky and all my links/favorites too!
Cork[home]
or trying to grap your old settings from the old prefs file
g__
Cork[home]: how do i breakpoint?
Cork[home]
Fezzler: if you don't care about your old settings thats option one :)

Fezzler
Cork>> I say we leave as is - working
Cork[home]
g__: the script tab, just click to the left of the row you want to add a break on
done :)
Fezzler: the second profile, is it in the profiles.ini?
Fezzler
Cork>> No. The profiles.ini pointed to the other one in /firefox
Cork[home]
and there is only one in the ini file?
Fezzler
Cork>> AND! YouTube video doesn't seem to be crashing now either!!!!! Listening to Boss Jungleland successfully
Cork[home]
Fezzler: and there is only one in the ini file? <--
Fezzler
Yes. One in the ini.
Cork[home]
ok, then feel free to remove the un wanted profile, but be carefull not to remove the wrong folder!!
Fezzler
The right one. Must be my old original one
Cork[home]
cause if you do your bookmarks is gone!
Fezzler
Cork>> So leave it, right? No harm, no foul, why screw with it
Cork[home]
thats a safe bet :)
Fezzler
YouTube video not smooth, but not crashing. so I'll take it
The YouTube thing seems to be like a cache thing or something
smooth, brief pause, jitter, smooth for few more, repeat
Cork>> Thanks for your help!
Cork[home]
ya, i have the same thing here in fullscreen
yw
Fezzler
Cork>> Thanks Again. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=RCvbAllJNR8&feature=related

Cork[home]
dErFz: tried resetting your browser cache?
dErFz

hello all :)
i'm using now mod_rewrite of apache to temporary redirect to another page. So I retrun [R=307] 307 Temporary Redirect. On this temporary page, there's a link to the original page.
but somehow when I click on this link to the original page, the current page is reloaded (I guess because it's cached)
I also tested that with IE and there it works

anyone has experience, or knows of some guys who tried the following - register a new pseudo protocol, "install://" which would invoke a (ruby) script I specify? It sounds like a trivial task, but i dont want to read RFCs only to do this little thing :/

jbswaff
Hi, I cannot right click in firefox. Does anyone kow whats going on?
anyone.....?
kbrosnan
jbswaff: os? one site or all sites?
jbswaff
Vista Home Basic, all sites.
kbrosnan
would try firefox's safe mode first http://support.mozilla.com/en-US/kb/Troubleshooting+extensions+and+themes
jbswaff
kbrosnan: that works
I can right click in safe mode, in other words
kbrosnan
so an extension is likely to blame
see the Test for faulty extensions section
jbswaff
Alrigh, will do
Sweet. I found the problem
It's the Yahoo toolbar... which i didnt even put there.
Thanks kbrosnan
kbrosnan
you can remove the toolbar from the windows programs section of the control panel
jbswaff
Alright, i will do that. Thanks again.

i would like to register a foo:// event handler... anyone knows a rather easy way to do that? (basically i'd just like to have firefox start a script this way, and the "URL arguments" be arguments for that script)
kbrosnan
shevy: firefox looks to the os for the default protocol handler
shevy
hmm
just found http://kb.mozillazine.org/Register_protocol let's see if that helps. thanks kbrosnan, anything that helps even more is very appreciated

I'm testing ff3.6b5. I went into the addons and selected the extensions tab and FF crashed. I went into about:crashes and there are no reports. Does anyone have any suggestions?
kbrosnan
is it repeatable? about:crashes only lists crashes that were caught by the mozilla crash reporter
Trizicus
It has happened once so far but I'd like to know how to 'record' this incase it happens again.
kbrosnan: I'm using linux as my platform. Would you recommend running from bash and outputting all info to a file?
kbrosnan
no
addtionally the crash reporter is only enabled for mozilla builds (to the best of my knowledge)
in most cases you would need to be running a debug version and possibly in a debugger to have any useful info
Trizicus
kbrosnan: how do I enable crash reporter in beta?
