is there a way using greasemonkey to make a link that doesn't send a referer?
stephenjudkins
has anyone seen an increase in weird stalling/blocking issues since upgrading to firefox 3.5.6?
LlamaZorz
Does firefox have a hard config file where the values in about:config are represented?.
cryton
yes
prefs.js
and user.js
Digicrime
hello
can someone help me with the searchbar autosizer extension?
CVirus
How can I prevent the user from deleting firefox's history ?
juninho
algum br ?
LlamaZorz
CVirus, take away the users permissions to the .mozilla/profile/Cache directory
CVirus
you mean .mozilla/firefox/d29e53ea.default/Cache ?
LlamaZorz: hello ?

dolske
uhh, don't do that, that's a terrible idea.
and it won't even accomplish the goal.
CVirus: there might be an addon that tries to do such a thing, but it's a hard problem to solve in a foolproof way.
CVirus
where is the history saved ?
isn't there anyways I could remove the "clear your recent history" from the preferences ?
dolske: ^
dolske
not with stock Firefox, which is why I suggested looking for an addon.
CVirus
I heard there is a way to edit the css that firefox uses to display the preferences
so that "clear recent history" isn't displayed
dolske: any clue ?
dolske
probably possible, I dunno details.
CVirus
dolske: where is the history saved ?
dolske
places.sqlite, along with bookmarks.
CVirus
dolske: isn't there a document that explains the structure of this big database ?
dolske
not sure, probably not.
CVirus

found the ERD :-D

Any plans to allow an adjustable input file width?
Is there some kind of security concern that makes you disable the file input width?
The problem is already being tracked https://bugzilla.mozilla.org/show_bug.cgi?id=290327
I'll use the size tag in the meantime until someone comes up with a solution
Since nothing has happened since 2005 I'm not holding my breath though

hi all I need an extension to save pages and show them to me when i go to that url and when i'm not connected to the internet. Is there an extension for that?
kbrosnan
g0: really a caching proxy would be a lot better at doing that then Firefox's cache which clears itself
aradriel
cheers, someone knows a addon for recording your browserwindow into a flash movie? for making tutorials etc
g0
how do i change the location data firefox provides without changing my location?
Raccoon
what's the address to session restore again?
Peng
Raccoon: about:sessionrestore, according to Google.
Raccoon

sorsis1

kbrosnan

sebi`

GattoDiSchroding
hi
kbrosnan
hello
GattoDiSchroding
While browsing some sites I get this message (iceweasel 3.5.5): A script of the movie is slowing down the playback of Adobe Flash Player 10. If not stopped could cause the computer to hang. Abort the script?
every time I have to click yes
with other browsers this doesn't happen
for example: http://www.guardafilm.net
kbrosnan
tried a new profile?
GattoDiSchroding
I also tried to delete ~ /. mozilla, but nothing changes
Why do you say to use a new profile?
kbrosnan
same as removing ~/.mozilla
GattoDiSchroding
ah, ok
kbrosnan
though on that site i get the same thing in ubuntu 9.10 (firefox 3.5.6)
GattoDiSchroding
thank you for trying
kbrosnan
don't get a slow script warning on firefox 3.7pre, but that is a pre alpha builds
GattoDiSchroding
someone advised me to go in about: config and change the value of dom.max_script_run_time. I tried but nothing has changed

Hello
I'd like to know if it is possible to embed a font like the profont font
since it comes in different format, truetype, bitmap etc
how does firefox supports it ?
kbrosnan
i believe firefox supports otf and ttf fonts, 3.6 will have support for a package called woff
https://developer.mozilla.org/en/CSS/@font-face
wal3
hello. I am searching for a plugin. When I visit http://some.thing it should redirect me to http://some.thing.else. similar to block site, but pointing me somewhere else instead.
gokoon
thanks
kbrosnan: Can't I change its size ?
kbrosnan
via the standard css methods
mahfouz
in current ubuntu-mozilla build of 3.6, if I go to download list, choose a downloaded file, I click "open containing folder" and nothing happens
kbrosnan
window manager?
mahfouz
me?
metacity
kbrosnan
does that usse nautilus?
mahfouz
it should open nautilus yes
I cannot "open" the file either btw
I mean, I can in nautilus
but not in ff download list
gokoon
I guess it is not possible to turn off font smoothing... when it uses the bold style, it smoothes it
whoa seems buggy
I'm with osx
with chrome
*giving up*
kbrosnan
mahfouz: works for me with mozilla's 3.7pre on 9.10
mahfouz
ok, i can check for myself
shld i file a bug for 3.6?
i have a related problem that some files dont open their external client when i download them
it's probly same issue
lemme try 3.7
kbrosnan
#ubuntu-mozillateam would know better than i
mahfouz
ah
ok
right, it works in 3.7
kbrosnan
works on mozilla's 3.6 for me as well...
mahfouz
daily build?
it worked for me at some point
kbrosnan
yes
mahfouz
but stopped working 2 weeks ago
kbrosnan
Mozilla/5.0 (X11; U; Linux i686; en-US; rv:1.9.2b6pre) Gecko/20091224 Namoroka/3.6b6pre
checked a new profile?
mahfouz
what's that?
kbrosnan
pass -P to whatever command starts firefox 3.6
mahfouz
ok, it's different if I use a new profile
but still funny
when I say "open containing folder" then it asks for an app
i set it to nautilus
but now it wants to use nautilus for opening the file as well
to open it's not using the client that is given in "prefs/applications"
kbrosnan: btw, i noticed i had an entry "content type: file" in prefs/applications
that messed up some stuff for me
at some point 3.6 suggests: "remember my choice for file links"
and if I check that, then it opens ALL files with that app
that's weird
yes, and 3.5, 3.7 don't have that "content type" file
swerve
is there any way to switch between custom fonts and page-defined fonts on the fly?
sorsis1
how do i edit saved login-information?
mahfouz
sorsis1: try preferences - privacy tab - cookies
sorsis1
no
didn't work
oh. where does it take my email address as login information?
subone
Is there a firefox extension that allows someone to edit a remote page in a wysiwyg fashion and save a local stylesheet for use with that page again. I can keep creating greasemonkey scripts to do it, but i figured there must be a more intuitive way.
Hmm this might be it https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/addon/11759
aww not available for linux!
oh he says hes tested on ubuntu 8.04...
RandIter
my firefox is using 700 MB of RAM with just 3 tabs open. lol. how much more sh*tty could a product get.
i know... blame it on the extensions. take no blame yourself.

Hello
I am trying to figure out how to get rid of the 'you have upgraded firefox blah blah' page that somes up every time I load FF
again
PeteS
Anyone have any idea why Firefox 3.x would hang most of the time on a netbook (WinXP)? No trouble with any other program, but Firefox opens, hangs for about 5 minutes, lets me load a webpage or two, then hangs for another 5 minutes, etc.
