lilalinux
is thunderbird also on-topic?
I'd like to open the migration wizard of TB3 again
kbrosnan
lilalinux: #thunerbird is on irc.mozilla.org though likely what you want is in the file menu
lilalinux
thx
auscompgeek
man, it's dead in here...
LlamaZorz
Is it possible to call firefox's clear recent history from a script while not actually in firefox. learning how firefox handles its temp files is tough
auscompgeek
if you can decode the JS that works it :P
LlamaZorz
There no like flag or anything that can be used
auscompgeek
I don't think so...

I'm trying to track down an SSL issue with Firefox - I've upgraded my OpenSSL and it appears Firefox is caching some settings that break the connection
the error message at the server side is: SSL_accept: 1408F10B: error:1408F10B:SSL routines:SSL3_GET_RECORD:wrong version number
if I quit and restart Firefox it starts working

hello
tim167
hello, where can i find the file that has the autocomplete entries in my search bar? (so not the address bar, it's not 'clear history', and not 'save bookmarks'...) on a Windoze XP OS thanks
auscompgeek
places.sqlite
tim167
auscompgeek where is that located ? and isn't that the visited links history ?
auscompgeek
that's bookmarks and history
which is what you want
tim167
none of those
i want the list of entries that show up when i start typing in the search bar above right
of all the searches i have done recently...
ah, sorrry i may have misunderstood, is search history also included in that file ?
auscompgeek
oh, in the search bar...
sorry, bear with me, I'm a bit ill
tim167
auscompgeek: no problem
it's the same as the autocompletions that show up in a regular google search in fact...i'd like to know where they are stored
i can find tons of howto's on how to delete that file, but not on how to find it...
auscompgeek
in the profile
tim167
auscompgeek: ah thanks, i think i found it, formhistory.sqlite contains entries called "searchbar-history"...
auscompgeek
ah...
soupdragon
hello
do you know if there's a way to turn off this "Reported Attack Site!" thing?
assuming that is firefox doing it :|
sorry I found it -_-
I should have looked there harder first
auscompgeek
check in Firefox's security prefs
soupdragon
thanks

hi guys
Froolap
hye
holycow_
just checked to make sure i had a decent version of ff ...
okay so i'm trying to save website pages, in the past i remember that ff used to save the html/css/images, the whole deal, now not so much
Froolap
Do you mean to imply that there is an indecent version of ff?
holycow_
i'm looking at csszengarden.com to learn about css a bit more, file save as / all files saves only html
actually all the options do, anyone know how to save everything loaded up currently?
Froolap: depends on the answer to my question i guess
:)

Darth_Grantius
Hey guys could you help me with something?
Froolap
no, we can't help you tie your shoe.
Darth_Grantius
Dammit! Now im gonna be tripping up all day :(
holycow_
oh nm, works now for some reason
danke
(Action) dubs the Darth_Klutz
Froolap
well, I suppose I'll nap.
holycow_
well damnit
why doesn't it save everything from csszengarden.com? anyone know?
from other sites it does, but not from there
tips?
DomiX
hi
is there a way to display the number of a word in the search field (ctrl+f)?
nineteenfingers
hi folks, is there an IETab type addon for firefox that works under linux?
rajeshsr
hi
is it possible to set shortcut key for a specific link i bookmarked?
only setting keywords seems there..
kcj1993
my guess is yes but i don't know how to do that
have you googled it?
rajeshsr
kcj1993, yes, dint get anything useful though..
mahfouz
in 3.6, I have problems opening files in externel clients
also sometimes have problems downloading files
I have to "right-click" and "save file"
but opening in a client is often problematic
anybody know this problem?
kcj1993
rajsehsr: try http://lifehacker.com/5119906/sitelauncher-adds-keyboard-shortcuts-to-your-bookmarks
if your still there
I guess not

I have mozplugger installed but firefox doesn't see it for some reason. It sees all other plugins. (Firefox 3.5.5)
Removing pluginreg.dat from my profile did not help
ignotus
hi, how can I turn off the addons popup of firefox? If there are new plugins installed, it pops up upon starting, I would like to turn this off.
Mlouis
Hi, I'm used to Opera where we can select a path where plugins are located, can we do the same with ffx ?
kbrosnan
an os level variable MOZ_PLUGINS="dir" might work
Mlouis
ok thanks
FreeFull
Yes, I got it working
xjiro
is firefox now completely unable to run multiple profiles at the same time ?
ignotus
xjiro: I haven't noticed that limitation
xjiro
the profile manager doesn't work after an instance is running
even specifying with the commandline -p "profilename" results in a new window of the currently open profile
ignotus
xjiro: try with -P (capital letter)
I use that all the time
xjiro
ok, i've been using -P
ignotus
hm
3.5.3-1
with this it works
xjiro
my understanding is that addons are not shared between profiles, correct
that's my indication it's running off the same profile here
ignotus
xjiro: yes, thats correct
xjiro
ignotus: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZSD162DvBb8
ignotus
xjiro: checking
xjiro: huh, I see, that's bad
xjiro
good, i don't think i did anything wrong
didn't*
ignotus
xjiro: would you try renaming your ~/.mozilla directory, so try it out with fresh settings
xjiro
meaning the settings directory on windows, K:\Documents and Settings\Administrator\Application Data\Mozilla
right ?
ignotus
right, just move it away (don't delete, you might need it later)
xjiro
k
same behavior, profile manager won't start when -ProfileManager'd
this is 3.5.6
if it's the first instance, -P and -profilemanager bring it up
ignotus
xjiro: huh I understand, but I'm out of ideas, weird bug
if you install an older firefox, does this behaviour persist?
xjiro
well, i used to depend on this before
ignotus
xjiro: hm, that's a pretty hard regression then:(
xjiro
time to figure out bugzilla i guess
ignotus
yeah:-/
xjiro
https://bugzilla.mozilla.org/show_bug.cgi?id=352074 exists
sort of
except this is reported 2006
ignotus
loal
xjiro
there absolutely is not a possibility that an addon broke this functionality, right
aaaaand my problem is fixed by the -no-remote switch
there goes 2 hours
ignotus
:D

good thing i am feared of posting bugs and looking dumb

Hi. Is there a dedicated place for discussing the new and broken thunderbird?
dryicerx
hi... when I open the bookmark panel, I am not seeing my bookmarks (even though on the Bookmarks menu I see them all)
on the bookmark panel, all I see is 'personal toolbar folder' and 'unsorted bookmarks'
is there something obvious I am not seeing... ? thanks
kbrosnan
all bookmarks > bookmarks menu should be present
dryicerx
kbrosnan: in the bookmark panel?
reiffert
Ah, irc.mozilla.org/thunderbird.
kbrosnan
dryicerx: in the library window
moritz
Hi.
kbrosnan
hello
moritz
There is something I don't understand, maybe anybody here can point me into the right direction? I have written a trivial CGI script which generates an image (png) and outputs this image directly (using a content-type of image/png) when provided with certain POST data. So far so good; the image is displayed fine by firefox. BUT: i cannot save it! Chosing "save image" from the context menu opens a save-as dialog but what firefox saves is
In case anybody wants to try it out: http://fuglos.org/cgi-bin/al.pl. The scripts wants you to upload a (small) image and than modifies that image.

heyas
I dont know, this is probably too technical, but I have a non-working flash plugin that regularly kills the browser (linux)
So I wanted to ask if it was possible to run plugins in their own process/thread
and use IPC.
flabr
hi there...does anyone know if there is any plugin for firefox which I could search and count how many times a certain word shows up in a page?
riwa
Hi. Firefox did some updates and now when I type in the addressbar, I end up here --> http://se.yhs.search.yahoo.com/avg/search?fr=yhs-avg&type=yahoo_avg_hs2-tb-web_se&p=bullcrap instead of google. How can I make google default again?
kbrosnan
eptalon: not really possible atm, there is some pre alpha work that will allow for plugins not to crash firefox
riwa: about:config find keyword.url right click choose reset
eptalon
kbrosnan: my problem is that I don't really have a working flash plug in
(Action) is on debian sid
kbrosnan
x64? x86?
eptalon
x64.
Intel Pentium D, at 2.8GHz.
which is amd64.
kbrosnan
running the x64 flash plugin i take it?
eptalon
I guess, so, but don't really know.
In any case, the thing crashes, and so does my FF, when it does
Flash plugin says 10.0r32.
kbrosnan
http://labs.adobe.com/downloads/flashplayer10_64bit.html should be Flash Player 10 (10,0,42,34)
eptalon: http://ubuntuforums.org/showthread.php?t=1263905 ?
eptalon
kbrosnan: where do I copy that?
kbrosnan
can go in ~/.mozilla/plugins or /usr/lib/mozilla/plugins if you want all browsers to use it
though you should remove the flash plugin package from apt or synaptic
riwa
eptalon: thanks!!! a lot!!
eptalon
kbrosnan: that thing actually works.
kbrosnan: thanks.
kbrosnan
eptalon: the forum or the flash from adobe directly?
eptalon
kbrosnan: the 64 bit version, together with the small "plugin"
