how do i disable "enter name of file to save to" so firefox just saves the file with its name in the default directory; without my intervention after selecting to save it :<
Anura
fierfox profile gone after crash, wont restore session, just need the ans-OR
wasting of times is o-curring
it just needs to work
what needs to happen is what is not o-curring, there is no other requirement
only that it works
D3RGPS31
how do i disable firefox's save dialog for manual saves o:
RM75
hi there. After a reinstallation, would the bookmarks created under root and the user with UID 500 (first one created) still be available and usable? Even if update Firefox to the latest stable version, maybe newer than the one I had?
sorry, I meant a reinstallation of RHEL whole system.
Anura
after firefox crashes it wont EVER work right again
profile will be gone
and it will show the session restore dialog box every time i launch it
no matter which optoino i choose
profile is still gone
and it still wont work right and i still cant get back to my profile
ray66
3.5.6 Firefox on Linux install..the ability to bookmark pages has ceased ..after upgrade to 3.5.6
RM75
ohh, well I had version 2.8
so in that case, because of 2.8, would Firefox still bookmark and have some kind of reference, right?

hey
im using Opera right now, but ill probably go back to Firefox

joe-mac1
hey guys, what is everybody's favorite tool for maintaining a set of bookmarks across machines?
awatkins
Firefox-wise?
joe-mac1
yes awatkins
awatkins
Weave
joe-mac1
weave eh, any reason in particular it's your choice?
awatkins
TBH, more because it also sync history (i.e. gives me a common AwesomeBar behaviour across machines)
And for that matter gives me access to passwords
and tabs from other machines
joe-mac1
hmm interesting
awatkins
And it's a Mozilla-built add-on, which gives at a degree of cohesiveness
joe-mac1
well that's good
awatkins
https://mozillalabs.com/weave/
(In case Google somehow escaped you, lol)
(In fact, the only thing missing for me, is that there's no iPhone Weave client, although there were very vague rumours in October)
joe-mac1
awatkins: sweet, this may be my choice then, especially since it's from mozilla themselves
thanks a lot

how to clear everything from firefox
and make it like a fresh installed one
samay
hi there
can i use opensocial api for making firefox addon ?
kbrosnan_
samay: you would need to be careful of chrome / content permissions and security issues
z1ng3r
Any Mac people in here?
awatkins
z1ng3r: WHAT?
auscompgeek
just ask
aum
hi - weirdest thing - right-click is now being ignored on all websites - (version 3.5.5, debian)
don't worry - it's just the all-in-one-gestures plugin playing up
ans-tot1222
how do i restart firefox, like it done when click restart button after installing extension?
joeytwiddle
ans-tot1222: i once used an addon, may have been called quickprefs or quick config, and one of the things in its drop-down menu was a restart option

The_Entropy
Is there a reason why firefox will *not* let me go through if the certificate for a certain website has been revoked? I know it's dangerous and I know the conversation with the server can be compromised but I absolutely don't care
why does firefox not give me the option to go through?
(and this behavior doesn't seem to be modifiable via about:config)
awatkins
The_Entropy: I assume you mean you've tried - security.OCSP.enabled
And OCSP revocations tend to indicate something stronger than 'can be compromised'
The_Entropy
awatkins, I just need to download a pdf docuement, the credentials I log in with I don't use anywhere else and aren't important to me, and I don't run a javascript-enabled pdf viewer(so I can't get a virus from this)
I know IE6 ignores this completely(they have it at uni and that's how I solved this problem yesterday)
awatkins
Hmm
The_Entropy
in short, I know what I'm getting in to, and I really couldn't care less if someone hijacked the connection
awatkins
Well, have you tried setting security.OCSP.enabled to 0?
The_Entropy
I'll take a lok
look*
awatkins
I'd like to highly recommend against doing so of course :)
Or at least set it back afterwards :)
The_Entropy
awatkins, I'll just disable it for 5min then put it back afterwards
yeah
awatkins
Makes me feel better, anyway
The_Entropy
I just need to get the course notes for a course I'm taking(I have an exam in a couple of days)
they use this at uni: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Blackboard_Learning_System
which imo is the worst system to have ever existed
but I can't do much about that
awatkins
Ah, Blackboard, quite.
The_Entropy
since two days ago, when I try to log in I get the error with the certificate being revoked
but since all I need are course notes, I'm not doing anything critical(like e-banking or some such) and the credentials I use for blackboard are unique toit
to it*
I think I'll take that risk
awatkins
Well, it might be possible to add an exception manually, via Advanced
but I'm not sure how well it'll work
(If it doesn't then it probably is a bug.)
The_Entropy
well, thanks for the help then
awatkins
Hope it worked

hi, when approximately is the ff 3.6 release date?
The_Entropy
it did, thanks
shesek
why the url hash is urlencoded in document.location.href and not urlencoded in document.location.hash?
IE, Chrome and Opera doesn't encode the hash in document.location.href and its causing me some issues :O
(I mean, that firefox is encoding it is causing some issues)
Toaster
hi, I just updated to 3.5.6, and now firebug isnt starting anymore, i click on the icon and nothing happens, someone know what to do?
Psinetic
hey guys, i'm on ubuntu 9.1064bit. for some reason my firefox is REALLY slow on java and php based websites like facebook. anything that's java or php based takes almost 10 seconds to load or just buffers and hangs for almost 30 seconds to a minute while other pages load instantly. is there any way i can diagnose what the problem is?
shesek
"php based" can cause the problem, as the browser doesn't know/care about the server-side language used to serve the HTML
* can't
Psinetic
hmmmmm....so what exactly should i do? :S
shesek
Psinetic, I would advise you to find the real source of the problem
can you give an example of some sites that caused you the believe the issue is php/java?
Psinetic
uh...well that's why i came here, but that's ok...um, guess i'll ask somewhere else.
facebook
shesek
http://www.wordpress.com/ or http://www.wordpress.org/ loads well?
Psinetic
yes
qwd
I want to remove tables on a website and it seems Adblock Plus is able to do this. For example the top logo starts with <!-- logo --> and ends with <!-- /logo -->
how can I tell Adblock to ignore everything inbetween?
kbrosnan
Psinetic: 64 bit firefox does not have tracemonkey (jit javascript)
Psinetic
what is that?
kbrosnan
https://wiki.mozilla.org/JavaScript:TraceMonkey
qwd: https://adblockplus.org/forum/ should know
Psinetic
holy freaking crap kbrosnan that made my browser like 100Xs faster...i'm not even kidding, it probably is literally 100Xs faster :O o.0
kbrosnan
doing what?
pcgenius
hey kbrosnan
Psinetic
going into about:config and searching for jit and then turning the first one to true
kbrosnan
afik that should not do anything on x64 builds. but maybe ubuntu does something different
Psinetic
i dunno, i hit refresh and it came right up
qwd
kbrosnan: Adblock Plus: Element Hiding Helper was the solution to my problem :)
Treval
Hello devverssss.
I have a little request for the Mozilla community.
djura-san
so
why is ff using 100% cpu sometimes
Treval
Does there exist a tool/plugin for FireFox that disables displaying posts of a particular person on a forum? Kind of like a client-side visual ignore.
Like, if this plugin sees the name 'xxxx' that I just added to 'filtering', it will not display the post of that person.
djura-san
hello. wyh is firefox loading up to 100% when i open just facebook? It is so fat and slow that i hate it
Treval
No repeating question.
Facebook is just slow.
It has tons of ad domains/apps.
I notice it goes less slow when I disable my firewall.
LOL
djura-san
well i changed my dns to opendns and still no luck
i will errase it for good if it keeps doing thi
you see i open 3 tabs and cpu is 100%. system is half-frozen
:|
Treval
rofl
bblean shell does that too often :=d
djura-san
well we are thinking about ff. why is it so fat and slow (browsing is okay but cpu/mem usage)
it is like that on quadcore with 2gb of ram
qwd
Treval: you may be able to do it with element hiding helper that I just used to remove tables from a website
Treval
Nice, nice.
What if the website isn't based on tables? Or is a bbforum based on tables?
qwd
Treval: it should work. it's not just a table hider, it's an element hider :)
basically it makes it easy to create a filter
if you try to remove a post with it probably all post will be deleted so you'll need to tweak it to only remove posts that contain the persons name
Treval
Darn.
qwd
but don't ask me how, I found the addon just now. read the documentation, look at the page source, look at examples and try stuff out
Treval
:)
deff
hi, anyone know of some extension able to run session save while ff is still open? and not only on close
