Was there recently some explot with a "ZULRunner" that executes some sort of virus code?
auscompgeek
good thing Cork has a script that identifies to NickServ...
Starcraftmazter
hey, where can I get the sourcecode for firefox 4?
superlinux
hi all
I have this: i can download using apt-get, but if I want to open a page, the page sometimes half opens and keeps trying opening it, or it does not open at all. the browsing thing happens independently from the apt-get. so what should I do here?
allo!?
sohum
so what's the easiest way to check firefox's caching policy for a particular url?
I thought looking through the headers for cache-control was enough, but apparently not
Thom1
hi
auscompgeek
hello Thom1
Thom1
when i go to "preferences" firefox creates a Desktop directory, but i don't want. What can I do ?
auscompgeek
what do you mean?
the desktop is meant to actually exist, so I don't know what you are talking about...
Thom1
i have not a "Desktop" directory because I don't want it
but when I go to "settings" (not preferences), firefox creates one
auscompgeek
it's meant to exist though, but Firefox never touches it...
Thom1
but it creates one and I don't want
auscompgeek
Cork ping
Thom1
because I don't need it
auscompgeek
(Action) hopes Cork isn't plugging up leaks
Cork
pong
auscompgeek
Cork great! you can start by helping out Thom1 :)
Thom1
:)
Cork
Thom1: about:config => browser.download.dir
change that to another directory
should fix your problem
Thom1
Cork, i don't want to change my download directory
Cork
uh... by defaylt its on the desktop, and its the only reason i can think of for it to ask for premission
Thom1
my current download directory is not i Desktop dir because I haven't Desktop dir
auscompgeek
?????
Cork
ouch
then i guess there isn't a way around it
its a built in check in firefox somewhere
auscompgeek
...
Thom1
s/i Desktop/in Desktop
Cork
Thom1: but make sure that key is set and not on what should have been your desktop
just to make sure
Thom1
browser.download.dir = /home/lenny/download
auscompgeek
...
check in the prefs dialog again to see if it really is :)
Thom1
yes it is
auscompgeek
if it isn't the desktop, file a bug :)
Thom1
it's not specific to firefox-3.5.5 o firefox-3.5, it's like that since a while
s/o/or
auscompgeek
then you should have filed a bug when you saw it :)
it's dead in here....
fommil
Hi all - I have a Thunderbird/Sunbird question. If a *bird user creates a calendar event and invites someone (who could be using iCal), the RSVP=TRUE flag is always set. How can this be disabled?
auscompgeek
fommil irc://irc.mozilla.org/thunderbird or irc://irc.mozilla.org/calendar
pcgenius
hello
Thom1

Acony
anyone here
is it possible
that somebody somehow
stolen my passwords with firefox
?
my accounts been hacked
sybariten
how do you meabn
kbrosnan
Acony: technically possible if you use the remember password funciton in firefox and you let someone use your computer
someone would have needed phisical access to your computer however
Acony
kbrosnan, no some other way
I am on linux by the way
kbrosnan
Acony: using a untrusted wireless technically people could steal your password. though it is fairly uncommon unless you are at some sort of black hat conference like defcon.
honk
heya, why is my firefox cache almost 800mb large, even though it's set to be no larger than 50mb? :]
Acony
kbrosnan, yep I am using wireless and I am behind the router
pcgenius
hey honk
honk
.
pcgenius
please explain a little more what you want to ask
kbrosnan
honk: because the maximum is not a hard limit, downloading files and other activtiy can surpass the limit
honk
kbrosnan: shouldnt the cache get cleaned up at some point though?
it just keeps groing
*growing
(largest file in Cache/ is ~24mb btw, so it's not a single large download either)
pcgenius
honk:you can clear the cache easily
honk
pcgenius: that's not what I'm asking though
pcgenius
ok sorry for my mistake
honk
uhh, I just found this in about:cache:
Maximum storage size: 51200 KiB
Storage in use: 51201 KiB
wtf :]
whatever.. *clears the cache*
gem_cat
what would cause ff to get absolutely clocked - it doesn't error - it just vanishes
pcgenius
