firefox does not respond at the moment. Is there anything I can do on linux without killing?
aum
hi - is it just me, or is the latest firefox (on linux) now excruciatingly slow? It makes my reasonable 2GHz box feel like a constantly swapping Pentium II
version 3.5.5, running on Debian Unstable (32 bit)
evocallaghan
Firefox did not restore my session, how can I find my session again?
kbrosnan
you can check sessionstore.js and .bak in your profile folder
evocallaghan
ok....
$ find . -name sessionstore.js
./firefox/yesc11kq.default/sessionstore.js
now what?
kbrosnan
open it in a text editor and see what it has
evocallaghan
not much
kbrosnan
what about .bak with the same file name
evocallaghan
yea, checked both
I assume this is the point you say "your ****" ?
thanks for the help kbrosnan

I need help
Ever time i load Firefox i get this
Could not initialize the application's security component. The most likely cause is problems with files in your application's profile directory. Please check that this directory has no read/write restrictions and your hard disk is not full or close to full. It is recommended that you exit the application and fix the problem. If you continue to use this session, you might see incorrect application behaviour when accessing security features.

rcmaehl_linux
hi
gluxon
Hello :)
izua
i'm looking for a way to share the bookmark toolbar between several computers (work, home, second box at home, laptop, workbench)
rcmaehl_linux
Add-on
Or
Firefox Portable
izua
ideally it should use a database i manage, not some seedy website
yes, add-on, but which
rcmaehl_linux
hold on
izua
i have yet to see one which handles the bookmark toolbar
and none that manages the bookmarks using a database connection i choose
rcmaehl_linux
izua
firefox portable doesn't run on both windows and linux..
that's why i need to share my bookmarks, not the binary
rcmaehl_linux
yes it does
Use WINE
izua
dude, but the flash plugins
rcmaehl_linux
dude,
izua
hmm
*ponders writing his own plugin*
rcmaehl_linux
good
izua
hmm, foxmarks sounds interesting though

I'm on my main computer. I'd like to be on my laptop. I have sshd set up. I'd like to boot up my laptop, ssh in, and use $something to tell me what tabs firefox has open currently, so that I may open them on the laptop instead. Is there any tool that can give me that information?
Or any reasonably way to access it so that a tool could be written?
reasonable^
kbrosnan
Daenyth: not trivial

No nifty dbus interface, eh?
Thought as much :(
kbrosnan: thanks anyway

Is there any way, on a per-link basis, to decide whether a link's access key should follow the link or give the link focus? Like a very fine-grained "accessibility.accesskeycausesactivation" preference.
auscompgeek
that would be very complex, so no...
Matthew_Cline
So there's no attribute which can be set on a link to do that?
auscompgeek
hm... I don't know...
that wouldn't be as complex...
:)
Matthew_Cline
Are there any pages which list all of the Firefox specific element attributes? What I need to do only needs to work in Firefox.
Hmm, https://developer.mozilla.org/En/XUL/Attribute might do it.
auscompgeek
isn't that for XUL?
Matthew_Cline
Oh, right.

Greetings, can be the recently reported bugs displayed in bugzilla?
Yaco
Hello
someone here is webmaster of the mozilla.org site?
gavin
do you have a problem with the site that you'd like to report?
Yaco
not exactly gavin
i got some questions about the software implemented to create the web platform "Addon for Firefox" https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/
know something about that?
gavin
it's a custom web app
built using cake
though they recently posted about plans to switch to django
Yaco
i see
you think it would be possible to use that platform in other site?
I am working at the Open Video Alliance project
gavin
the code is available, but it's pretty specific...
Yaco
I think we can try to adapt it
we are planning to build a kind of catalog of free software tools to handle video
gavin, you think we can use the software to build uppon that¡
gavin
I don't know
mconnor
Yaco: it's possible, whether it's the best starting point is not clear
Yaco
mconnor, gavin: how can i get a copy of the code?
gavin
http://svn.mozilla.org/addons/
Yaco

gavin
