selckin
always just ask on irc
hosoka
all of a sudden some websites are not displayed well.
e.g. http://pastebin.com/mc387f91
with other browsers no problem.
using 9.04 was also fine.
selckin
and in english?
hosoka
till moved to 9.10 and stopped working.
selckin

I tryed syncing to it but when i go to select it i get an Alert saying: There is no application associated with "firefox" . Run the application first and then open this file inside the application.

there a way to click on firefox icon, the 2nd time, and have it open as a tab in the already opened firefx winodze?

i am using noscript, but i think i want to allow all javascript and disallow all flash until i approve of it, and don't see how to arrange for it... is there another flash-blocking tool people know of?
Zyclops
doesn't that mean you have to approve pretty much every web page these days?
selckin
brick: its wierdly called flashblock
brick
thanks selckin :)
Zyclops, that's the problem with blocking the js... at least the flash content is discretely in boxes and i will know i am ignoring something!
Zyclops
i don't think it's really an option to block js these days
brick
i agree
auscompgeek
it's dead in here...
really dead...
eyeII
auscompgeek: yes
auscompgeek
finally someone speaks :)

what causes firefox to be extreemly slow? all my other applications are running properly without any problems and I have more 2Gigs of RAM and 2GHz processor on a Ubuntu OS.

hi
just a question for long term firefox developement
when will firefox uses more than a process for opened tabs, and when he will use GPU rendering for pages ?
tvw
how can I see the source code of the current page in firefox?
auscompgeek
tvw Ctrl+U
tvw
no. Ctrl-U shows you the page, which you will get, when reloading the url.
I want to see the source code of the page, which is displayed by the browser.
auscompgeek
Ctrl+U

tvw
when I do Ctrl+U: firefox ask me, whether he should resend the data of the form. If I say no, it shows me no code at all.
auscompgeek: firefox explicitly tells me, that he will reload the page.
auscompgeek
who's he!?
tvw
firefox
sorry for my bad english
auscompgeek
it, not he!
tvw
thanks
auscompgeek
and I don't see anywhere that Firefox will reload the page
tvw
have you tried it with a form in the page?
epbalu
tvw, just try View->Page Source
tvw
it is the same as Ctrl-U. I tried it with google after doing a search. It seems, as if the behaviour only occurs with some webpages.
with google, you just get the sourcecode
epbalu
Ctrl+U does not reloads the page
auscompgeek
s/reloads/reload/
tvw
but you can try it on amazon.com: when signing in as a new customer and you come to the next page "New to Amazon.com? Register Below.", hit CTRL-U.
auscompgeek: thanks again. I will try harder, but I am not a native english speaking person.

hi I have a ssl problem with firefox. the SSL works without any problem BUT when you click on the favicon on the left of the URI location field, it says "You are connected to "my site name" which is run by (unkown) Verified by: Digicert"
why does it say say (unknown) how can I change it to my organization name? any one familiar with this problem?
tvw
SquarePi: I guess, you need a more expensive certificate.
auscompgeek
:)
SquarePi
I already found the reason.
the CSR was not set
correctly

Is there a way to disable the miniture screenshot when dragging a tab?
nm, found it. nglayout.enable_drag_images=false

I accidentally removed the toolbar containing the URL bar and various other buttons, and I've previously removed all other toolbars including the menu bar, how can I get the toolbar containing the URL bar back?
tafryn
Anyone know what might cause this error, http://dpaste.com/122410/ ?
kbrosnan
tafryn: check with #chatzilla on irc.mozilla.org
sahilsk
krosnan: can i use chatzillla as a widget ??
kbrosnan
no idea
towardme
is it possible to move status bar to the top, below the tab?
FaUl
hey
is there some option to switch back to the old "ssl becomes a green url-field" behaviour instead of that stupid EV-certificate-stuff?
with long company names, the ev-certificate renders the url-field unusable scince you cannot see the url anymore
and thus cannot edit it as wel
l
Cork[home]
FaUl: firefox has never had green for eva
ever
they had yellow bar for ssl, but thats it
FaUl
nope, green for "good certificate"
Cork[home]
thats ie, not ff
FaUl
yellow would also be fine
i'd like to have the small padlock back instead of that verbosity-stuff
i'd klick on the padlock if i'm interested
(Action) omits the usual rant about stupid ssl warning behaviour in firefox 3.x here
is there any about:config value to change it back to the old behaviour or is there any extension?
Cork[home]
donno looking

I noticed that flash plug-in for firefox ate up resources
I was listening to AOL radio for a while, and the firefox started getting sluggish
it got worse as time passed...
selckin
you should be in #flash
towardme
I closed the tab responsible for displaying AOL Radio and waited for a while. Firefox returned to normal.
selckin: Well, unless there is someone who is familiar with it
Cork[home]
FaUl: couldn't find anything, you might have to resort to userchrome.css hack
towardme: make sure you have the latest flash installed
towardme
I did.
Cork[home]
migth even be good to look at the beta versions
selckin
flash is crap, live with it, or preferably without
towardme
In fact, I believed it's the latest version that suffocated my firefox
Cork[home]
towardme: it might even be the player the site uses that has a leak
towardme
I wondered what would happen if I unblock flash advertisements...
thankfully I turned on flashblock
or the matter could be worse
Cork[home]
towardme: that always a good way to speed up firefox
towardme
cork: Possible
cork: I am waiting for adobe to fix them
Cork[home]
towardme: adblock plus is a nice companion for the wem :)
towardme
yeah
Cork[home]
*web
towardme
but too powerful...
Cork[home]
in what way?
towardme
I want to give supports to some sites and have to unblock some sites
Cork[home]
then just white list them >_>
towardme
cork: one time I believe the websites stop generating revenues by displaying ads
cork: So I unblocked some websites because they really depend on ad revenues to stay online
and I am obligated to let them display ads
I mean, it's win-win
they display ads, and I enjoy free contents
but only for certain websites :p
Cork[home]
towardme: i might be a bit harsh, but... not my problem, if they want to publish a site, i won't load so much ads i cant browse it
towardme
cork: well, the problem is many use flash to display ads, and flash ads got all over the place on the website
Cork[home]
towardme: i host some sites my self, and i would never put ads on it
towardme
cork: hold on...sh*t time :p
Cork[home]
<_<'
towardme
will be back
soon
Cork[home]
that was a bit more info then i needed...
FaUl
Cork[home]: hm, suxxs
Cork[home]
FaUl: in firefox you can do almost anything with the gui in userchrome.css
change color, hide elements, change size of elements, move elements
FaUl: ex. http://userstyles.org/styles/15935
FaUl
i know
but thats always pain in the ass ;-)
and if i can avoid that, i will
Aperculum
I cannot make the magnet links work in my firefox although I followed the instructions
http://ubuntuforums.org/showpost.php?p=1985936&postcount=2
these, every other site gave the same information
of course I compensated for different path on my system
axelm7
hi from argentina. Is this the correct place to ask questions about getting flash 32 bits to work on mozilla 64 bits on linux?
selckin
impossible
FaUl
wasn't there some compatibility-plugin?
axelm7
there are several hits on google refering to this project: http://gwenole.beauchesne.info//en/projects/nspluginwrapper
I'll ask on the fedora channel and return if necessary. thanks
selckin
64bit plugin exists
use it
axelm7
selckin, only alpha version without security updates
selckin
lies.
axelm7
kbrosnan
the 64-bit flash is an alpha release
axelm7
without automatic fedora security updates, I would need to monitor the version manually
selckin
then just use 32bit firefox aswel
ldvx
is there any difference between using styles and modifying tab colors, "minimal firefox", "tabs bar minimal size", and modifying a firefox theme to fit my minimalistic needs?

hoping that this is true... http://news.cnet.com/8301-17938_105-10401403-1.html?part=rss&subj=news&tag=2547-1_3-0-5
ldvx

kbrosnan
Insano: first i've heard of that, don't work for moz though
Insano
current browser in PS3 is a mess
Having Firefox on the PS3 would be a treat
auscompgeek
Insano's wish seems to be coming true...

Hello. I have a WinXP machine where I installed a Linux guest in a VirtualBox. On both systems I use Firefox. Now, how can I import my bookmarks from the Win Firefox into the Linux one? In other words, Which file(s) should I make available to the Linux Firefox for import?
selckin
organise bookmarks -> import/export options
auscompgeek
too fast for me..
franz_
I know selckin , but Firefox in the Virtual machine can only see one shared dir from the XP host
So I need to know which files exactly i should make available to be read
selckin
you export it to a file, copy it to vm, import the file
franz_
is there an export otion? I didn't see it in the menu.... where is it?
option*
auscompgeek
Ctrl+Shift+B => Import/Export => Export HTML
selckin
franz_
ahhhh, ok, thanks!
it was much easier before, when everything was simply managed with the bookmarks.html file
clop
i start firefox with -p profile1 -no-remote, or -p profile2 -no-remote, so that my wife and i can have our own profiles; this mostly works, but when a long download is going, and I close all of my windows using profile1, i can't start a new firefox under profile1 until the downloads are complete. is there any way to start up another firefox window with profile1 while the download is still going?
franz_
I wonder why programs get more complex at each new release, without clear advantages to the user
no more irony selckin ?
selckin
and people wonder why nobody wants to help them
franz_
no, thanked you for your help, and I am grateful for that, but I didn't appreciate your irony.
i'm only complaining about programs who get more and more complex, less manageable and bigger to do exactly the same things they did in previous versions.
selckin
no you where trying to troll, and i didn't bite, and you got annoyed
bye
auscompgeek
(Action) slaps selckin around a bit with a large trout
franz_
(Action) scratches his head, quite perplexed and leaves this room a bit disgusted

http://support.mozilla.com/en-US/kb/Keyboard+shortcuts says cmd+left/right moves tabs but it don't!!!!
at least not my tabs
xxTomxx1
Hi, quick question: I am getting a no_cipher_overlap error when accessing https sites via a proxy. I've turned all ciphers on in about:config.
I am confident that the proxy, and the firefox client have a common cipher.
Is it possible that this error is produced by something other than a disagreement between ciphers?
any advice would be appreciated. thanks
t0nic, make sure the focus isn't given to any content on the page and ctrl left/right should work.
t0nic, also try ctrl+tab, but this only moves to the tab on the immediate right
t0nic
xxTomxx1: thanks, it said "cmd"
ctrl+arrow is used by spaces :(
xxTomxx1
i don't even know where "cmd" is :P
t0nic
cmd+option+arrow shifts tab focus, I was looking for something to MOVE the tab itself
xxTomxx1: apple
xxTomxx1
t0nic, i see, documentation says windows equivalent is ctrl, and no this does not work either, even when giving focus to firefox.
wierd.
