hi folks, I wanted to try ubiquity and installed the extension, but my key combination (ctrl+space) does nothing... is there a known issue with other extensions or FF 3.5?
Space

firefox 3.5 works with @font specs in the stylesheet (because it ignores it) and 3.7 works because it uses it (I presume) but 3.6 just leaves out the text that is supposed to be using that font. Which is a problem.
mconnor
sshelagh: testcase?
we support font-face in 3.5, for TrueType and OpenType
and WOFF in 3.6

Cork[home]
lol
(Action) pats firefox good popy
sshelagh
mconnor: Just rechecked this in 3.6. Was there a problem a couple of weeks ago with this? It is fine now, thank goodness. I was worried that I wouldn't be able to use the @font setup in the stylesheet at all.
I should have said @font-face {font-family: etc... setup.
But as I said, it seems to be working whereas when I test a couple of weeks ago, I just got no text at all.

hello
is there a way to have firefox download files with a specific extension to a specific directory?
like all .ext files go to /foo/ext/
i remember hearing it mentioned a few weeks ago but i cant figure out how to do it through the gui

first time here. I have been having a series of FF crashes since upgrading to lattest version. It will crash without even getting a opprotunity to open the brouser. I do get the crash bug window that pops open but this is a bit fustrating. What can be done to resolve this issue?
okay, it will start in safemode with addons removed.
kbrosnan
haryv: get a couple crash ids http://support.mozilla.com/en-US/kb/Mozilla+Crash+Reporter#Viewing_reports_outside_of_Firefox
haryv
probebly a addon. its working now in safemode.
Decepticon
how do i open a url in another profile, the command line?
what is the command
should i use ietab or another addon for this
kbrosnan
Decepticon: firefox -no-remote -P "profile name" http://example.com
Decepticon
what addon do you recomend that can accept that as a browser to view the selected url in
say, right click context menu option
i know ietab does it but it might be a bit too much
kbrosnan
no idea
JSharpe2
anyone have experience with AutoPager plugin for FF?
Decepticon
kbrosnan: that only works for 1 url at a time
kbrosnan: i get the message Firefox is already running but it is not responding. To open a new window, you must first close the existing Firefox process, or restart your system
how do i open multiple tabs with firefox -no-remote -P "profile name" differneturls.com
if im running firefox in no-remote mode already, and i want to launch urls in another profile using ietab external app pointing to firefox -no-remote -p "profile name" url.com .... how to od it? i can only do 1 url, if i do more it will say firefox already open blabla
kbrosnan
you can't
short of having one dominate profile that you did not start with -no-remote or creating a profile for each url
Decepticon
so what happens if i run the original profile without no-remote
will this help
somehow?
kbrosnan
Decepticon: yes that will allow programs to send urls to that instalce
er instance
linux_stu
is it possible to view text input box caches?
i was making a post on craigslist, and craigslist went down when i was going to post it, so my post failed
i'd really like to be able to recover it without having to retype it
would it possibly be cached somewhere?
mfwitten
FFS. WTF are (some of) firefox's dialogs modal? That crap is SO unnecessary and it ruins my day in some cases.
auscompgeek
?
mfwitten
auscompgeek: firefox refuses to respond to anything else while, say, the save-page dialog box is open.
auscompgeek
it's the same for all applications that use the same API.

mfwitten
auscompgeek: It's an an extremely archaic approach to synchronicity that is completely overkill in almost every situation. Modal dialog boxes are ridiculous, and probably the result of old event-looop models.
auscompgeek
hm... I asked NTT to override all compatibility and it doesn't listen... :(
CodeWar
I m using 3.0.15 sometimes the back button just stops working and it automatically stops tracking history
any idea how to get out of this
auscompgeek
don't use an out-dated browser :)
don't worry, I'll be back... when I get home...
CodeWar
auscompgeek, this is the only browser that behaves resaonably sanely on Solaris any other version is simply toooooo slow to use
auscompgeek
use 3.6b1 :P
oh well, bye everyone, brb
CodeWar
actually 3.5 sucked big time on both Win7 and Solaris sites were really slow
mfwitten
CodeWar: Firefox tends to do that.... suck, that is.
CodeWar
mfwitten, not sure if theres another browser for Solaris perhaps Safari 3.5+ is absolutely unusable simple as that
mfwitten
CodeWar: I wish I could point you in a good direction; browsers are currently in a bad state: They're big and bumbling or stupid or incomplete, or some combination of those.
auscompgeek
is it just me, or is it dead in here?

butterball

hey guys, do u know the zoom function in FF, how much does it zooms per click?
is it based on normal monitor resolution?
Cork
dig1tY: about:config => toolkit.zoomManager.zoomValues

auscompgeek

dig1tY

auscompgeek
we do have a prefs.js file in the profile...
dig1tY

mikey
Hi
I'm having a really irritating issue with flash media not being clickable half of the time with firefox-3.5.5 on ubuntu 9.10
auscompgeek
O_O
mikey
thing is, the video recognizes the click
but it doesn't actually act
like, i'm watching hulu
i click the pause button repeatedly, and the button does blink to indicate it recognized the click
but, it doesn'tact
i have the same experience on youtube, and several other sites.
faber4
hi everybody. can i somehow track connections from plugins such as flash? i need to capture data which a flash movie downloads.
auscompgeek
you can use third party apps...
faber4
auscompgeek: you mean outside firefox?
auscompgeek
yep
faber4
auscompgeek: whats good on windows?

trying to display MathML in PHP generated documents, copied example from http://www.mozilla.org/projects/mathml/start.xhtml . Works fine till I rename the file to .html or .php ending. How to make it work inside PHP documents? (I already fixed <?xml parser error)
It only needs to run on FF btw
auscompgeek
the MIME type is correct?
plouffe
I copied the example exactly. not sure about MIME type
auscompgeek
or even the DOCTYPE declaration?
plouffe
as I said, everything worked fine for me locally, until I renamed the file ending
auscompgeek
...
plouffe
Do you know of any working MathML examples inside HTML or PHP file endings?
Cork
plouffe: hathml demands xhtml
*matml
so .html is out of the question
auscompgeek
oh, really?
Cork
ya
it demands xml
auscompgeek
...
plouffe
and is there a way to make it work within PHP?
edeca
Why on earth would an embedded markup depend on the file extension?
That seems rather silly.
Cork
if you change the content type for the document to application/xhtml+xml
plouffe
I agree edeca
edeca
As long as the content-type and DOCTYPE are correct, I can't see why it wouldn't work
plouffe
Cork, how do I change it?
edeca
(I might be wrong, but if I am then at least it's MathML which sucks)
From PHP, use header()
plouffe
Ok, thanks
Cork
i think you can use mathml in html5 though
plouffe
I will try how that works
Cork
but its not ouyt yet
