henk, open relay makes it easier
skweek
hey anyone around?
jgh_
getting rounder by the year
skweek
are you now... we're all supposed to get longer, slenderer, and bender over the years :)
so I'm thinking about installing exim as a bulk emailer.. for the first time... but debating if its a good one to use/fit for use?
like is exim cross platform...
Tcalp
Hey guys, on a cpanel server is there a way to add a transport filter to ensure that the from domain exists on the server
skweek
what's that mean?
jgh_
Tcalp: you'll want a cpanel support forum for that question, I suspect
skweek
jgh!
can I use exim and use smtp relays, and how could I apply any security measures to the smtp relays? I would think strong username passwords
but how would I feed the smtp ips and userinfo into exim to rotate on
I've read some posts on the forums about using a script/cronjob to rotate the ips on an etc/ conf but... it hadn't mentioned userinfo... is there one?
oooh, please someone have had this kind of experience !
bjornar
when using proxy protocol, any particular reason the ${proxy_target_address} and so on does not expand until acl?
or to put another way, is it possible to set the value of smtp_active_hostname in an acl?

skweek
what's acl?
jgh_
bjornar: because it's different for each connection
skweek
arg, my eyes feel crossed
bjornar
jgh_, thats exactly the point...
jgh_
bjornar: they are there to give you information about the connection. They are not something you can change, but you can make decisions based on them. What are you actually wanting to do?
bjornar
jgh_, change the banner according to what the proxy_target_address is
and since this is known before banner is delivered, I guess it "should" be possible..
jgh_
hmm, tricky. The banner is changeable by the connect ACL, but I suspect the proxy protocol might not have gotten done by then
if you try to log it from the connect acl, is there a value?
bjornar
jgh_, so how would I set banner in connect?

bjornar
it works
jgh_
yee hah!
bjornar
cool
begin acl
connect:
accept message = ${lookup dnsdb{ptr=$proxy_target_address}{$value}fail} ESMTP Exim -
