hi, I'm using a mailing-list app (Pommo, based on phpmailer) and I set it up to use sendmail (an alias to exim4 on my server) but I don't manage to dkim sign my messages. Any clue?
actually I selected sendmail/exim4 as mail exchanger so I don't event think it has anything to do with phpmailer (I don't know much of php)

hi
i am a bit confused when i am reading chapter 9 (file and database lookups)
for example, i can t understand from it where i must give the key for a single key lookup...
i mean in the syntax... for example, if i want to perform a lsearch in /etc/foo i must type
'lsearch;/etc/foo'
but
where is the key ?
jgh_
this is a lookup done by a string expansion?
or as part of a list expansion?
Baygon
i have no specific goal in mind, i am just reading specs
for example they give this :
domains = lsearch; /some/file
jgh_
ah. the two cases are different; see chapters 11 and 10 respectively
Baygon
this should return something i bet ^^ but according to what key ?
ok
ok i saw that i had to read 10 and 11 too to fully understand i was wondering if i had yet missed something as i m not really fluent english speaker
am i guessing well if i think that the 'lookup' keyword is the place to set keys in general case ?
jgh_
(probably we should add a note in chapter 9)
you can use the ${lookup expansion in any way you like; the key is explicit
Baygon
ok thank you
jgh_
in lists, the key depends on how the list is being used

Baygon
the concepts are well explained but i feel like if i need something about syntax, again it can come from my weak english

hi, is it possible to use multiple relay hosts with different credentials in exim?
am looking at http://lexspoon.org/linux/smtp-relay.html
jgh_
yes
shantanoo
great.
jgh_: can you point me to the correct doc?
jgh_
your first prob. is deciding when to use which host
docs at exim.org
look specifically at routers, and transports
shantanoo
jgh_: i am looking for round-robin mode. if i need to send 10 emails, 5 from relay1 and 5 from relay2
jgh_
that is much harder
and a rather odd use-case
shantanoo
oh. is it possible?
jgh_
only with a lot of custom work
you'd be better off discussing with your smarthosts why they place such restriction
shantanoo
one way i can think of is. create 2 docker instance which forward to relay1 and relay2. and add dns entry for those ips for same name.
jgh_
possibly they think they have not sold you a commercial service
shantanoo
there are services which provide 'x' free transaction emails per month. was thinking to utilise those by addind multiple smarthosts
now i think i should not use any relays...setup the server on VPS...
jgh_: thanks for the help
Baygon
is it possible to configure exim to use mbox and/or Maildir on a per recipient base ?
jgh_
not sure what you mean by the "and" possibility there
Baygon
well let s forget 'and'
i suppose it is possible playing with transports ?
jgh_
in that case, yes. You'll need two transports, and decisions in the router chain on which to use
Baygon
yes ok
i did not reach the transport part of the spec
yet
