LowKey
hello, i got some error on exim, could somebody help me on this : http://pastebin.com/Cx4fVWtf
petemc
LowKey: whats the problem?
LowKey
petemc: cannot send the email , http://pastebin.com/Cx4fVWtf
petemc
yeah, do you control the machine running exim?
ThiefMaster
hi, the manual shows 'local_interfaces = <; ::0 ; 0.0.0.0' being the default. ::0 and 0.0.0.0 are obvious and explained, but what does '<' mean in this setting ?
LowKey
petemc: yes, i control the machine
ThiefMaster
nvm found it
petemc
LowKey: so its doing sender verification, which in the case you posted is failing
LowKey
petemc: hmm, so what i must do? i dont have any clue to do, many thing i tried, but it wont work.

petemc
you can put accept senders = root@matrix.yyy.ne , before the verify is done in the acl
LowKey
acl ? how to make acl?
petemc
you already have acls, thats how the mail is being rejected
LowKey
petemc: hmm how do i edit my acl? for allow that email , i'm use cpanel with exim
petemc
i know nothing about cpanel
LowKey
hmm ok i'm check
ThiefMaster
how can i make exim use only ipv4 for outgoing emails?
while i have ipv6 on my server, i don't have rdns yet and quite a few servers reject my emails due to the missing rdns on the v6 ip
so i'd like exim to listen on v6 but not send via v6
henk
hehe, i had that problem too, but now i have rdns correctly setup :)
ThiefMaster: tried searching the docs?
ThiefMaster
yes, only found the transport 'interface' setting
but that didn't work
'interface = <; 0.0.0.0' but it still sends via ipv6
henk
try searching the docs index for ipv6...
ThiefMaster: yep, 'interface = ...' doesn't work, the docs on that tell why.
ThiefMaster
couldn't find anything on how to disable ipv6 only for outgoing connections...
henk
you are kidding me, right? there is an index and a content listing. search for ipv6 in the docs for whatever version you are using, http://exim.org/exim-html-4.69/doc/html/spec_html/ e.g.
ThiefMaster
http://exim.org/exim-html-4.69/doc/html/spec_html/ch13.html#SECID93 - i've tried dns_ipv4_lookup=true but it still tried to send via ipv6.
henk
just do as i said...
ThiefMaster
i fu*king did
not sure why you can't just tell me the option. i've tried basically everything - even disable_ipv6, but that also disables the ipv6 listener
henk
yes, of course it does... either you want ipv6 or not. it doesn't really make sense to use it for receiving but not for sending from an mta's point of view...
ThiefMaster
why not? to receive emails via ipv6 i don't need proper rdns..
henk
neither for sending. it's just an established myth that a proper rdns says something about the sending server's spamminess. it's absolute nonsense though... just don't use ipv6 until you have control over the rdns. there are probably 0 ipv6-only mailservers out there yet and if so, they can't be reached by about 90% of the internet's hosts anyway, so it doesn't really matter...
LowKey
hello, i got some error and this make my server down. please someone see this : http://pastebin.com/VH3bLkDP

So I'm trying to do a rewrite on certain outbound complete addresses. I have a file containing the conversion in a format like anon@anon.com:anonymous@anon.com. I'm having trouble setting up the exim transport rewrite rule however. Doesn't seem to be working.
I've been trying *@* ${lookup{lc:$1}lsearch{/etc/conversions} {$value}fail} with no success. Any suggestions?

petemc
are you doing it in a transport or in the rewrite section?
xulfer
transport at the moment
petemc
why?
xulfer
Just seemed appropriate, i'm not particularly attached to that placement.
so any tips? i'm not actually that versed in Exim if you couldn't tell already.
petemc
other than use the rewrite section and consult the rewrite docs, not really, no
