donspaulding: Assuming dc_relay_nets is just used as a host list (and I don't know whether or not that's true), it should work: see http://exim.org/exim-html-current/doc/html/spec_html/ch10.html#SECThostlist
and also http://exim.org/exim-html-current/doc/html/spec_html/ch10.html#SECThoslispatnam

djce: so it seems my question now shifts to "Is the value of the dc_relay_nets field considered a host list?"
thanks djce
djce
Indeed. And I can't help you with that. Consult Ubuntu's documentation.
Good luck :-)
henk
donspaulding: it is. at least in debian.
donspaulding
excellent, thanks for the help.

djce: ah, that second link is good and afaict explains my problem with understanding it...
Arafangion
I'm a typical naive user of exim (Actually installed Debian (squeeze) which has Exim version 4.71 #1 built 25-Mar-2010 17:35:04
However, I'm utterly perplexed as to how to get it to work. I've tried sending mail to 'arafangion', I've tried sending it to 'arafangion@localhost', but while everything apparently works, I get no actual mail!
I don't get anything written to the logs - not in /var/log/mail.info, not in /var/log/mail.warn, and not even in /var/log/mail.err!!!
So, in the absense of any kind of diagnostic message, failed return code, or whatever, I am utterly at loss in figuring out how to debug my situation... Can I have some help?
Note that I'm attempting to get this working in local delivery mode... I'm not using a smarthost, or any smtp system - just local.
(Action) suddenly notices a new ~/Maildir... Must be incompatible with the Maildir option used by dovecot
My new question, therefore, is how to configure exim4 to deliver mail to ~/Mail which, as it turns out, is in mbox format.
mgoetze
Arafangion: the logs are in /var/log/exim4
Arafangion: iirc there's a debconf option for delivering to an mbox, but that would be in /var/spool/mail/$user
Arafangion: you would have to edit /etc/exim4/conf.d/transport/30_exim4-config_mail_spool
Arafangion
As it happens, I had disabled the option for splitting up the configuration files into smaller files - so they were all in /etc/exim4/exim4.conf.template, however when I set that up to use mbox format with: file = /var/$local_part/Mail
Well... When I did that, exim stopped creating ~/Mailbox but I didn't see any changes...
(Action) sees the obvious typo.
And it works as a charm. :)

I truly think you said what everybody is starting to think.... Bells and whistles only leads to more brownouts and broken sounds... :8

I was working with Word 2007 last week... And thinking that WordStar for CP/M was much more efficient....
Is it even possible to create a document under Word that is less than 10K?
