Hi all, I would like to set up a list of addresses that will only accept mail if it is 'internal', which for the most part probably means authenticated. Not sure where to start with this one though
phx
lilphil, start at the ACLs

hi guys
if i have a domain @xyz setup local and im pulling the mail down with fetchmail from the isp but i have some mail boxes that are not local and i want that when people send to the smtp it must see those 3 users are external and deliver them to the isp, how would I do that? I think its called LUser-Relay
im thinking something like this.... (although a doc about it would help) setting up a router and not using verify_sender, or making it look up the user in a text file, and then setting up a router for it

pro: try explaining what you want again, but using more full stops. I'm afraid I can't follow your explanation of what you require.

ok,
i have exim4 with dovecot setup as a MTA at the office with about 30 users on it. The MX records for this domain point to the mail server at the ISP and I use fetchmail to collect the mails and deliver them to the local server.
djce
so far so good.

now, there are some users that are in a different office so they still popping their mail off the ISP's server.

sorry, I have to go (I'm at work and I have a meeting). Should be back in 20 minutes or so.
happy to help then if you're still here.

now when the local users send a mail to one of these users that are not local the server says its an invalid user and bounces it back
i'll still be here
I want to set up a router that checks a list like /etc/exim4/external.db and any address it finds in that list it will use a router where the driver is manualroute, transport is remote_smtp and route_list = (those users) smtp.of.isp.com
i think thats what I want to do anyway....
djce
pro: so just to understand: are you saying you have one domain split over two sites? someusers@xyz in office 1, someotherusers@xyz in office 2?
pro
yes
sorry was on the phone
i suspect i need to modify my acl_check_rcpt: so that if it matches the user it will accept it, even though the user doesnt exist on the server
lilphil
you might be able to use a router that calls the remote_smtp transport for those users?
not really sure
pro
yeah, i'll figure it out though
