Slydder
morning all
am having a problem with getting an exim router to work on a Debian Lenny install. seems to just be ignoring the fact that the router is there.
henk
Slydder: interesting :)
phx
Slydder, debug mode
Slydder
already have
am trying to get mailman working
the 2 routers and 1 transport are now in the config but are not working at all
am using these instructions: http://www.exim.org/howto/mailman21.html#exconf
henk
'not working at all' is a pretty empty statement...
hm, i need to correct myself, it's not that empty at all. we now know you have not read the smart questions howto :) please go read it.
Slydder
well. if I do exim4 -d+all -bt inmv_testing@invm.de it doesn't go through the mailman routers at all
phx
are you sure exim reads that config file? you can never know on debian
Slydder
yeah
djce
grrrrrrrrr there's always SOMETHING in this bloody building.
Now we have someone taking a LOT of photos with flash.
Which somewhat breaks the concentration.
(Action) rants. Sorry.

phx
charge up your sb[89]00 and flash it into his eye on full power
djce
sorry. /me rants in the wrong chat room. But I hope you enjoyed it ;-)
rant over :-D
Slydder
ok. is there a way I can check what config is being loaded?
I mean the config in /var/lib/exim4/ has the correct routers and such in it.
petemc
eixm4 -bV
Slydder
just not 100% sure if it's the one being used.
henk
Slydder: debian's exim4 should always load /var/lib/exim4/config.autogenerated
Slydder
super
no wonder nothings working
petemc
henk: thats not true
henk: if it find /etc/exim4/exim4.conf , that will take precedence over anything else
Slydder
petemc: noticed that now. our normal mail admin is using exim4.conf. I was making changes to the conf.d files and regenerating the /var/lib/exim4/ config and wondering why it isn't working
berndj
does anybody who isn't a spammer use EXPN or VRFY? Nessus is whining about our server that accepts them (but does so unconditionally)
djce
berndj: these days EXPN and VRFY can be safely disabled, I would say
berndj
thanks. deny it is then
sts
hello folks. how can i stop exim from sending emails via tls (outgoing mails)?
petemc
hosts_avoid_tls
Faustov
hello, does the mail to a domain defined in relay_to_domains go through SA, like local deliveries do?
henk
i'd guess that depends on your setup...
Faustov
I think I understand how to control it now, thanks
epictetus
i'm a debian user with some exim questions that i feel may have more to do with debian's crazy exim frontend than with exim itself
that being said, basically my config got borked somehow so I tried to regenerate it from scratch -- i am a basic internet site, mail for 2 domains, 1 user uses smtp auth to send/relay...
i just backed up my broked /etc/exim4 and started with a fresh one, reinstalled all the packages, etc... got it all working except spamassassin
i had been using sa-exim
and my /etc/exim4/sa-exim.conf is the same as it was when it was working
what else is required to turn on sa-exim?
