I do, apologies.
parsnip

is it possible to have erc save the chat log of an channel and show it next time you re-enter , like a persistent hisory view ?
theseb
how make bs-show (buffer listing) appear is SAME window instead of opening ANOTHER one?
s/is/in
parsnip
is http://renard.github.io/o-blog/ a good way to go?
would like a minimal static blog setup starting in org files
ThatOtherGuy
Hm.. Yeah. No idea. Python can see jedi, but elpy says it's not installed. Confuzzled.
JordiGH
ThatOtherGuy: I just had this problem. Are you using a venv?

theseb
how ADD something to list foo? (append foo 'new) ?
ThatOtherGuy
JordiGH: not currently. What was your solution? I'm having to use a cygwin setup currently.
JordiGH
Oh, boy, Windows.
I don't know what to do about that.
ThatOtherGuy
Right?
oiler
hey all
JordiGH
My problem was that elpy wouldn't see something I installed into ~/.local when I activated a venv.
parsnip
,greet oiler
fsbot
¡Hola oiler!
oiler
que paso
JordiGH
I say that as "quep'só"
oiler
retire un poco la silla para que se puede pasar
JordiGH
Pretty good, but missed the subjunctive.
oiler
don't translate that, you'll be disapoint
damnit
JordiGH
I know people who have been speaking Spanish for 30 years as a second language and still mess up the subjunctive.
It's pretty arbitrary. You just have to memorise which phrases have it. Annoyingly, it doesn't match use in French, so I mess up subjunctive in French.
dazed_and_amused
"remove a little chair so you can spend"
dunno what you're talking about, I'm not the slightest bit dissapoint
gopar
JordiGH: spanish is my first language and I still can't talk properly
ThatOtherGuy
JordiGH: yeah, no idea :P. Everything points to it being installed, just elpy not seeing it. Going to have to bug forcer about it at some point :P
JordiGH
dazed_and_amused: "I moved the chair a bit back so you could get through."
ThatOtherGuy
Wish I could see where elpy was checking for it.
JordiGH
dazed_and_amused: well, I'm assuming the lack of diacritics isn't intentional. Without a diacritic, it's imperative, "move the chair back so we can get through."

dazed_and_amused
JordiGH: I dont speak a lick of spanish, but that only makes going to google translate all the mor entertaining
JordiGH
dazed_and_amused: I can usually figure out why Google Translate makes mistakes, but this time I'm really confused about where it got "spend" from.
blackwind_123
is paraedit works better only with lisp codes...?
benaiah
one of my favorite idioms is the latin phrase "amabo te", meaning "please", which literally translates to "I will love you"
sg2002
blackwind_123: Yes, but there is smartparens that works with other stuff.
ThatOtherGuy
JordiGH: found the issue and solved it. Checked elpy-config and it was using "python" as it's backend. That uses python 2, I am using python 3 for this project. Quick swap and everything worked out.
You know, in case anyone else has to deal with cygwinized crap.
benaiah
blackwind_123: to extend sg2002's answer, smartparens can be set up to imitate paredit fairly accurately in lisp modes, while still providing a "dumber" autopairing for other modes
Is there a way to get erc-hl-nicks to recognize and highlight <nick> in "<nick>'s" (e.g., "benaiah's computer")
?
parsnip
benaiah: do
oops
wasamasa
blaenk: the key is to set it *before* evil-mode is enabled
blaenk: one way of ensuring that is to use custom.el exclusively
blaenk: I picked loading up evil as the very last thing in my init.org instead :P
blaenk: you can go for something in-between and just set that variable before any of the autoloaded functions that would initialize evil
parsnip
anyone using nikola?
wasamasa
I've used nikola for a few hours, does that count?
bremner
(Action) prefers edison
parsnip
wasamasa: definitely. pros/cons?
looks like it has an org file plugin
wasamasa
parsnip: well, the only reason I tried it was because I didn't like pelican's themes :P
parsnip: later I've found out its detection for changed files sucks big time
parsnip
,shoot bremner
fsbot
(Action) loads its wordy, obscure, and surreal piece of prose and turns bremner into a non-pipe.
wasamasa
parsnip: so I dropped static blog generators for the time being
parsnip: and am currently on a dynamic site until I set up chicken's hyde
parsnip
wasamasa: what is "sucks bigtime"?
wasamasa
parsnip: it didn't recognize all the files that needed to be rebuilt
parsnip: so, I pushed a new post, rebuilt, but it didn't notice it would need to rebuild the navigation files, too
parsnip: so nobody noticed I had a new post
parsnip
dang
wasamasa
but that was long ago
parsnip
really want a minimal maintenance static blog, like org -> blog in like very few steps
like, totally, y'know
bremner
parsnip: just edit a text file, like the veteran unix admin you are.
wasamasa
I'm mostly concerned about the workflow with editing and previewing changes
parsnip
wasamasa
parsnip: correct
parsnip: its preview mode looks like a step-up from the rest to me
parsnip
wasamasa: i used jekyll for a bit, had preview i guess
Tekkkz
hi, is it possible to execute a bash command in emacs?
parsnip
jekyll -serve
or smth
Tek
Tekkkz: M-!
benaiah
Tekkz: M-!
wasamasa
parsnip: because it rebuilds every time I browse something and it's a cache miss
parsnip
,judge parsnip benaiah
fsbot
parsnip wins! fsbot loads its witch doctor and shrinks benaiah's head.
wasamasa
Tekkkz: you again
benaiah
I finally got used to my keyboard and then updated the layout in the firmware
patricles
or "shell-command" if you're writing lisp
Tekkkz
okay and in which folder is this cmd executed?
benaiah
now my typing is slow again
parsnip
deego: need a space between <nick> and 's
wasamasa
Tekkkz: tell me, why are you using emacs if not for elisp?
Tekkkz
cause its a nice editor and nerdy geeks are using it :D
parsnip
wasamasa: don't you mean use elisp for emacs?
wasamasa
Tekkkz: same can be said about all the other ones
patricles
yeah, really
i hope you're not doing ALL your programming in elisp
