taylanub
holy crap, eatingacademy.com has some very involved articles. one step below simply reading the papers yourself I guess. also, lots of research being done on ketosis ATM according to the author, whose results will be published in the coming years as the studies complete (article itself written in late 2012...)

Idiot: dunno, and I'd never see it anyway, since I ignore JOIN PART QUIT and probably other messages :)
blackwind_123
Idiot : try this (setq erc-part-reason "your witty msg") and (setq erc-quit-reason "your witty msg")
Idiot
To hell with Nethack-el. It seems to be for Foonix, and I'm on the family computer again.
escondida
nethack.el is great (-:
Idiot
blackwind_123: Do I have to M-: first?
M-: looks like a silly kissing emoticon with humongous lips.
offby1
Idiot: if you family computer is reasonably beefy, you could try VirtualBox: run *nix (or pretty much anything else) in a window
*your
blackwind_123
Idiot : yes i guess... or just copy them to your ERC config in your init.el file and eval those two line
Ephexeve
I have the following in my emacs.el -> https://github.com/ephexeve/dotfiles/commit/5640305e9f642e76e7caf8ae683e64f12abc6eb0

Idiot
Wait, those aren't lips, that's a beak.
Ephexeve
but it still opens the scrollbar on daemon
testingERC
anyone havae a config tip for using ERC? I'm testing it out
Ephexeve
How can I permantely fix this?
Idiot
blackwind_123: Alrighty then.
offby1
Ephexeve: surely you don't have the + and - signs?
wasamasa
Ephexeve: the daemon doesn't spawn a graphical frame
Ephexeve: so it doesn't know about these I guess or fails activating?
Ephexeve
wasamasa: when I run emacsclient -c, it opens with a scrollbar
I am not sure...
offby1
funny, I have pretty much those same things in my .emacs
wasamasa
yeah, that's the client
Ephexeve
if I manually run then on a buffer, then it works fine
wasamasa
I guess it's the former as I'm using this unconditionally
and it works
Ephexeve
it works for you?
can you snip me what you have?
wasamasa
I've changed it to a xresources solution
Ephexeve
Oh
nice
wasamasa
which does basically the same, unconditionally disabling these modes
so, try removing the conditionals :P
Ephexeve
wasamasa: well, I did, as seen in the link :(
didnt work either
blackwind_123
Ephexeve : (scroll-bar-mode -1) ;; Disable Scroll Bar
wasamasa
Ephexeve: that link suggests it *adds* the conditional

blackwind_123
Ephexeve : use that if you dont like scroll bars... not just toggle
wasamasa
Ephexeve: `if' is a conditional
Idiot
"We can't repel wittiness of this magnitude!" is my witty message.
It sucks, I know.
Ephexeve
aaah, I see
cool

(Action) rappels to get away from Idiot
blackwind_123
Idiot : i dont knw abt others... i redirect all my quit/part/join/ msgs to void... i dont like to see them ;)
Idiot
Is it possible to cycle trough windows, like you cycle trough buffers?
blackwind_123
Idiot : use ace-window.... you might like it...
Idiot : allows to you switch through windows quickly... :)
Idiot
Already have it installed.
Drag-stuff is an extremely clever package name.
What was the command for searching backwards again?
wasamasa
C-r
Idiot
Ah.
I'm trying to M-x ecb-activate, but it tells me that "package assoc is obsolete!".
wasamasa
that should be a warning
offby1
what, always use cipher-block chaining instead of electronic codebook?
(Action) slaps thigh
little crypto humor for y'all there

I'll take "Online Snark" for $50
wasamasa
have a nickel, kid
ecbrown
Idiot: ecb cedet and friends are something of a disaster
Idiot: they may not work
Idiot
If I want to use Emacs as an IDE, what should I use?
offby1
and that's coming from someone whose nick _begins_ with "ecb", so you know it's true
ecbrown
gufffawwwwww
Idiot
But it could mean "Equal C*** Brown", you know.
ecbrown
maybe, maybe!
Idiot
At this moment, I remembered that Emacs comes with Adventure built-in.
ecbrown
Idiot: emacs sucks as an IDE, like the ones with a panel of files down the left, etc
offby1
At this moment, I remembered that I have some leftover chicken in the fridge
wasamasa
mhh, chicken
Idiot
ecbrown: All these minutes of struggling to make ECB and CEDET work, all has gone to waste...
ecbrown
probably
i've used emacs for 20 years, and i can't get it to work
wasamasa
I just managed to max out the comment length on the stackexchange

,emacs-related sociology
fsbot
It may not be that obvious for the layman, but sociology is indeed emacs-related, wasamasa.
ecbrown
Idiot: you can use Emacs and an IDE at the same time, if you directly edit the files with emacs. then use the ide for the debugger, "intellisense" etc if you need it
but if you want e.g. IntelliJ, then by all means use that program
after al, emacs is primarily an email client
wasamasa
lol

Emacs in a nutshell.
ecbrown

ecbrown: 30 years, and ditto
Idiot
God damnit, I chuckled right now. Thank you, ecbrown.

email acros
Idiot
This is hilarious.
wgreenhouse
emacs is a mostly complete IDE for elisp (the dynamically scoped flavor, not the lexical flavor, where tooling is still missing)
wasamasa
hahaha
wgreenhouse: speaking of which, taylanub confirmed my suspicion that letrec is basically the same as let with dynamic binding enabled
tali713
emacs is not a good ide, unless you program elisp. but it is a very fine editor that can be integrated with many tools.
wasamasa
I lurve programming elisp
even when I don't
tali713
it's highly tolerable.
