JordiGH
Yeah.

JordiGH
They did lose one corner kick.

spain scored 8 goals in 7 games and won the god damn trophy...
1-0 in all the matches of the knockout stage
that's got to be some kind of record
JordiGH
Wow, .nl is such sore losers.
kodein
I can't see why football is such srs bsns, really
legumbre
third time they reach the final and walk away empty handed
that's gotta suck
jlf`
am i to understand there was some sort of sports contest recently?
JordiGH
Fuck, I'm getting tears in my eyes.
Casillas is contagious.
kodein
empty handed, I'm not too sure, they get the silver at least
JordiGH
kodein: Sore losers. They rejected it.
kodein
oh
gold or nothing, eh. I can respect that.
legumbre
kodein: exactly
JordiGH
Sore losers, dirty players, whiners, unable to win.

legumbre
we should get shakira to write a song for #emacs
JordiGH
I kinda liked her more when she was more about a girl with her guitar.
kodein
when was that?
legumbre
JordiGH: me too
the "pies descalzos" shakira
JordiGH
But it gives me some consolation to know that she's a smart girl and writes her own songs.
I liked her more as a brunette, though.
legumbre
yeah, she looked better brunette
vinhdizzo
hi, I'd like to be able write a function that is bounded to a key, say C-c, that performs like this: C-c, next key (eg C-l), and the function would evaluate (process-send-string nil "\C-l"))
any suggestions or references u guys suggest i should read?
so the function takes in the next key press as the argument and execute it process-send-string line
legumbre
Forlan gets the golden ball!
\o/
damd
The Golden Boot went to Thomas Müller of Germany who had three assists, compared to one for the three others. The Silver boot to David Villa of Spain, who played a total of 635 minutes; the Bronze boot to Wesley Sneijder of the Netherlands, who played 652 minutes. Diego Forlán of Uruguay had five goals and one assist in 654 minutes. A further three players scored four goals.[63]
legumbre
yeah, that too
damd
whaddya know, kaká got the highest amount of cards in the entire tournament
one red and three yellow
JordiGH
Pig!
legumbre
one more goal and Forlan would have won both the Golden Boot and the Golden Ball

vinhdizzo: C-h f interactive
vinhdizzo
jlf: thanks i'll read into it
another question. is there a function or keybinding that remove the all non-printing characters in a buffer like ^[41C?
jlf`
probably something like (global-set-key (kbd "C-c s") (lambda (seq) (interactive "k") (process-send-string nil seq)))
vinhdizzo: ,,ansi
fsbot
ANSI is [0] see ,df ansi-color-for-comint-mode-on
[1] see http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/ANSI_escape_code
jlf`
see [0]
vinhdizzo
jlf:
jlf`: i'm not trying to convert colors. I'm looking for a function that just wipes out all nonprinting characters (if possible)
cluck
:)
jlf`
vinhdizzo: maybe replace-regexp to do s/[^a-zA-Z0-9 (etc)]+//
vinhdizzo
replace-regexp s/[^a-zA-Z0-9]+// to "blank" didnt do anything
Riviera
What's the reason dunnet shall be played in batch mode? :)
jlf`
vinhdizzo: ,,(replace-regexp-in-string "[^a-zA-z0-9 ]" "" "nothing !#@#$&#&$@# here")
fsbot
nothing here
rolando
I'm now waiting for the Vuvuzela Hero
jlf`
,vuvuzela
fsbot
bbbbzzzzzzzz
vinhdizzo
jlf: thanks, i'll have to modify that to include all nonprinting characters such as asterisks, dollar, parentheses, etc&.i still think theres bound to be an easier way to clear out nonprinting characters that are no tabs and \n
dataangel
I have an extension that calls make-variable-buffer-local on one of its custom variables, but I want to set it globally. What's the best way to do that without forking the extension?
jlf`
vinhdizzo: there probably is a better way
mee
How do you guys deal with functions that are bound to M-Tab? Is there a way to globally rebind / alias these bindings or is there a escape prefix I don't know about?
dataangel
mee: global-set-key
offby1
dataangel: I think you're stuck.
mee: use a better window manager :-)
jlf`
mee: if your window manager is eating M-TAB you can do ESC TAB as a workaround
offby1
mee: when desperate, I type M-C-i
dataangel
mee: e.g. (global-set-key (kbd "M-v") 'the-function) will bind the-function to Alt+V, overriding any previous binding
mee
ah, lots of choices. thanks.
cmihai
Hi. How can I set the default browser in Emacs (maybe just an org-mode thing though) to say chromium or firefox instead of Mozilla?
Eg: double clicking a url starts mozilla...
I've tried setting browse-url-generic-program but that just broke it :-)
jlf`
broke it?
cmihai
Nothing happens when I click a url
jlf`
,dv browse-url-browser-function
fsbot
Function to display the current buffer in a WWW browser.
This is used by the `browse-url-at-point', `browse-url-at-mouse', and
`browse-url-of-file' commands.
If the value is not a function it should be a list of pairs
(REGEXP . FUNCTION). In this case the function called will be the one ..[Type ,more]
cmihai
Just says "no match"
Umh... probably not what I want.
I'm trying to set the browser started when I click a URL in org-mode pages.
evud
Hello. I guess it's a silly question but how do I run the text(not GUI) version of emacs( I use ubuntu)
cmihai
-nw
offby1
"emacs -nw"
cmihai: jinx
jlf`
cmihai: try ,,df org-open-at-mouse
fsbot
org-open-at-mouse is an interactive compiled Lisp function in
`org.el'.
(org-open-at-mouse EV)
Open file link or URL at mouse.
evud
cmihai and offby1 thank you :)
jlf`
cmihai: which eventually calls ,,df browse-url
fsbot
browse-url is an interactive compiled Lisp function in
`browse-url.el'.
(browse-url URL &rest ARGS)
Ask a WWW browser to load URL.
Prompts for a URL, defaulting to the URL at or before point. Variable
`browse-url-browser-function' says which browser to use.
jlf`
^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^ :)
cmihai
AHA
I was missing http:// ...
eg: had just a www.google.com as test. My bad :-)
Thanks.
Also, org-mode with iimage is pure gtd p0rn. Mwhahhaha :D
jlf`
iimage?
fsbot
iimage -- A minor mode for displaying images, see http://www.netlaputa.ne.jp/~kose/Emacs/iimage.html
cmihai
Seems built into emacs 23.
jlf`
huh, spiffy
cmihai
Yup. Alias it to a key and you can toggle all your image urls. Awesome stuff :-)
jlf`
that's why i love this channel
cmihai
Still not as easy to clip contents as say onenote or evernote, but close enough :-)
jlf`
i want something like org-snarf-attachment, that will let me specify a file on my local system or the intertubes and make a copy of it in an org-attachments directory and put a link to the copy in my document
so all the collateral documentation for a project could be easily archived in the project directory
cmihai
Yup, same here. Or org-take-clipping
That starts some screenshot app, saves to a random filename under say ~/org/images and puts in the url :-). Actually, that would be pretty easy to code
jlf`
great, i'll be waiting here
cmihai
I'll add it to my somtimes/maybe list :P
jlf`
i call that my YEAH-RIGHT/AS-IF list
cmihai
Close enough..
Also would be nice to integrate gnuplot / orgplot with iimage so it automagically saves pngs and adds them to the org file. hehe
offby1
man, f-spot sure is a piece of s***.
cmihai
Never used it. Just gthumb and constantly missing IrfanView :-)
dim
there's feh
cmihai
That brings faint recollactions of openbsd for some reason.
lol, no, that sounds even more horrible
Oh, wait, no, it's exactly what I wanted :-)
A quick look through the manual shows fullscreen is v not f... manual looks pretty scary too. But yeah, it's nice.
legumbre
feh?
fsbot
From memory, feh is an image view that can fetch urls .. + other entries
legumbre
(Action) googles
ltbarcly
feh is terrible
offby1
meh
ltbarcly
the usability is very painful
jlf`
feh is meh?
ltbarcly
bleh
legumbre
rudybot should use the google prediction api
cmihai
Yeah, the shortcut keys are horrible.
v for fullscreen, makes perfect sense.
I think I'll grab the source and change the keys (easier than digging through the manual for a .fehrc entry)
ltbarcly
if you have it thumnail a bunch of images, looking at them and then going back to thumbnail view is hard iirc
it's pretty crusty
cmihai
It's iimage-mode awareness day today. Write an emacs major mode for viewing images / thumbnails or something :D
ggole
,image-dired
fsbot
I think ImageDired is at http://www.emacswiki.org/cgi-bin/wiki.pl?ImageDired
cmihai
doh, emacs :-)
evud
One more question. I'm trying to have emacs a left column with the line numbers. I googled a bit and found line-num mode which I "installed". The problem is altough now I have a column with numbers, the numbers are very close to my text ... Here is an example of what I mean: http://img821.imageshack.us/i/screenshotds.png/ the number 2 and the word "fun" are very close ... is there a way to change this? Or maybe a better mode than line-num? Thank you
schoene
evud: Try adding this to your .emacs: (setq linum-format "%d ")
evud
schoene: that was epic! One more ... can I start emacs with some predefined modes? Like linum mode ... what should I add in .emacs file?
