quotemstr
I don't actually use flymake. Doesn't it just run a separate program in the background and highlight errors found by that program?
magcius
Yeah.
quotemstr
So why would modes have to specially add support for it?
magcius
So I need to add support for running and parsing that external program
quotemstr
Sure.
magcius: Anyway, to add support for a new framework, you want to update js--update-quick-match-re to match the thing you want to highlight.
Then, you add entries to js--class-styles as appropriate. Should be pretty straightforward.
magcius
quotemstr, can I do that without editing the source itself? I'm an elisp noob.
quotemstr
No, sorry.
Though if you point me toward some examples, I might find time to do it myself.

Eh, most people don't have a CLI spidermonkey.
JordiGH
quotemstr: Hawt.
technomancy
quotemstr: more people might if it was easy to use with flymake
quotemstr
Quick poll: does anyone have a spidermonkey distribution package?
MacPorts does here.

dynamic scoping is awesome

Does dynamic scope promote software freedom?

I thought this hilarious when I read it the other day: ""Quebecois sometimes refer to imitation maple syrup as sirop de poteau ("pole syrup"), a joke referring to the syrup as having been made by tapping telephone poles."
doesn't even bear remarking how nasty that sounds!

What a wonderful direction to take the offtopic.

an endeavor of the early bird?
ams

what does that mean?
JordiGH
So whipping girls with branches makes them more fertile?
ams

JordiGH
Humans are weird.

Hi folks. I wish I could use emacs customize capabilities to edit some configuration information, and that all this was self-contained in a file. Is it possible ?
quotemstr
ams: Ah, that part is accurate then.
ams
quotemstr: oh definitly..
rgr
ngirard: I'm not sure what you mean. All the custom info is stored in a file.
ams
quotemstr: cant count the number of dingus i've gotten...
my dad always remebers it, and i wake up soaked..
quotemstr
I've never had one myself. I've just participated in the late-night revelry.
Hah.
ams
fu*king annoying!
ngirard
Hi rgr. I mean, I wish I could edit some personal stuff the same way emacs customize does
quotemstr
ngirard: Why not just define customization variables for yourself then?
ngirard
For instance, if I'm dealing with some stuff involving a color field, i wish I could bring up a customize buffer that would help me change its value, and put the results in one single file
quotemstr
Why not see whether you can just use the color picker?
ngirard
Hi quotemstr. As I understand it, customize stores its output in ~/.emacs, right ?
quotemstr
By default.
ngirard
I wish *my* own file f contains config information, and also the output of emacs customize
I mean, getting emacs to help me configure some stuff, not emacs stuff
using emacs customize gui
ams
quotemstr: worst part abut whole thing is that you KNOW that it is coming, but then on monday you fu*king forget it...
you know it is going to happen around easter, then you forget it, and wake up soaked in water!
yay!
quotemstr
Heh.
You can't forget about it here. EVERYONE talks about it.
Party this, Broadway Market that. And butter lambs!
ams
quotemstr: ah, different traditions. :)
nobody talks about it here... until monday!
quotemstr
Heh. Probably because we don't have the element of surprise to preserve. :-)
arm
ngirard: I don't know but, how about putting a hook to the customizations write function to put all it's stuff into a custom file?
ams
quotemstr: thing is, it isn't really a suprise... :)
ngirard
Hi ams. Yeah, something like (let ((custom-file "my-file.el")) (progn (load custom-file) (...)))
ams
ngirard: what you on about?
ngirard
That might do it. But it means I would need 2 files
ams: sorry ?
arm
ngirard: if you want more than that, well, guess you'll have to grab emacs customize.el, see how it works, and start hacking
ams
ngirard: you talked to me.. you drunk??
fsbot
Definitely
ngirard
ams: i didn't understand "what you on about?"
arm
fsbot++, I wonder how many regexes does it have in it's PRIVMSG handler
ams
quotemstr: wish i had a girl to awaken this year :-)
ngirard: you asked me a question, i did not comprehend it, thus i asked you what you are on about.
specksynder
I hate the fuss abot Valentine's day in the US. Makes people without dates feel really sorry and sad. Why the fu*k are we singled out?
