hwdplinux
Hi wondering why getfacl is not outputting the mask:
centos 6
Evolution
hwdplinux: elaborate?
fenrus02
seems to work as expected here. what are you expecting vs seeing?
hwdplinux
hmm I think I just figured it out
I have to run it on a file that is in a filesystem with ACLs enabled
thats why im not seeing a mask
thank you for responding guys, I appreciate it.
darius93
do anyone know why im getting "undefined reference to `tgetent'" "undefined reference to `tgetnum'" "undefined reference to `UP'" ? I have ncurses-devel isntall
this is when im trying to build libguestfs
TrevorH
are you rebuilding an SRPM
pj
hwdplinux: yes, you can easily remount a live filesystem to add in the acl flag
darius93
TrevorH, no, im building source of what ive downloaded. the srpm doesnt have the features I need
TrevorH
the SRPM will pull in all the buildrequires for you if you use mock

This venue is unable to provide assistance with building from source; you are strongly encouraged to learn to create proper packages that can be installed via rpm/yum.
sartan
what's wrong with ./configure && make && pray
(rhetorical)
darius93
lol i just dont see why im getting this error on el7 and not on ubuntu/debian. from what i been reading its something to do with ncurses but its installed (including the development libraries)
sartan
checking.
TrevorH
we don't support building from source here
sartan
might be termcap darius93
TommyC
Why not just modify the srpm for the newer version and/or the features you desire?
TrevorH
exactly
TommyC
Personally I label that as "building from source" but at least with rpm you can manage it better (compared to finding the files individually and removing them).
Sokel
That is something I try to teach the devs at $job -- They don't get it.
darius93
I would use srpm but tbh it is still slightly confusing to me considering that most of them use patches and left me to wonder how am i going to get every patch required to have the feature(s) implemented in that specific version.
but i think it was readline-devel that was missing
fenrus02
did you file a bug report?
darius93
would it be classify as a bug since it was a missing dependency?
fenrus02
did the app work? if not, it's a bug.
darius93
well it builds (and now works) that i have installed readline-devel,
fenrus02
build is your own problem. i'm talking about the repo version of the app
darius93
if youre referring to libguestfs that is in centos repo, any bugs with it has been fixed in EL7.2
Wamphyri
whats the qmail-scanner package called under centos 6.5?
Evolution
Wamphyri: it isn't. we don't ship qmail in any form.

Wamphyri
ah ok
what about spamassasin?
Bahhumbug
Oddly enough, spamassassin.
Wamphyri
ty
pj
Wamphyri: are you running cpanel?
Bahhumbug
qmail is exim. Plesk or DA is qmail.
Meh, cpanel is exim.
pj
ahhh, plesk, then
?
hwdplinux
I am able to change ACL for /etc/sysconfig/network-scripts/ifcfg-lo even though I have not mounted /etc with the acl flag, how come?
TrevorH
if this is el7 then I'm pretty sure that acl is default
hwdplinux
centos 6
pj
hwdplinux: what do you mean by "able to change"?
hwdplinux
well I was under the impression that you cannot change file acl's unless the file resides on a filesystem mounted with the acl flag.
currently I only have /home mounted rw,acl
pj
[10:20] <pj> hwdplinux: what do you mean by "able to change"?
hwdplinux
setfacl -m u:user:--- /etc/...
pj
right, I think you can run the command, but it won't do anything, not sure if it will take effect once you set the acl flag or not.
I think the acl flag has to do with reading the permissions and enforcing them.
hwdplinux
its working permission denied for cat /etc/file
pj
hwdplinux: what fs?
Bahhumbug
grep mountpoint /proc/mounts will show all filesystem flags for all mounted filesystems, including non-specified defaults.
Far as I know acl is default in 6/7
hwdplinux
ext4
pj
yeah, could be, at any rate, if you want to use acl safest thing is to enable it explicitly.
Bahhumbug
I can't help but think you missed what I said.
pj
Bahhumbug: except that /proc/mounts doesn't show any acl flags for me, even in el7.
hwdplinux
me neither
Bahhumbug
For ext4?
pj
ext3 in my case
Bahhumbug
4 may disable it by default. tunefs will be able to tell you what the defaults are.
ext3 defaults to acl on all my 6 instances.
hwdplinux
is seclabel what im looking for in this output instead of acl ?
nevermind thats selinux
/proc/mounts does not indicate that /home has acl enabled either. even though it is mounted with acl
Bahhumbug
@uname hwdplinux

hwdplinux, please paste the single line of output from the 'uname -a' command run on the server in question to the channel.

Linux optimus.dworak.com 2.6.32-573.3.1.el6.x86_64 #1 SMP Thu Aug 13 22:55:16 UTC 2015 x86_64 x86_64 x86_64 GNU/Linux
Bahhumbug
No idea. I don't specify acl or user_xattr anywhere explicitly and all my filesystems are mounted with acl,user_xattr.
pj
anyways, I'm off for a bit
TrevorH
I checked /proc/mounts here and my /boot is ext3 and says acl in the mount options but everything else is ext4 and does not say acl. I don't have acl anywhere in fstab
ext4 has acl in Default mount option in tune2fs -l
Bahhumbug
'dumpfs /dev/mapper/whatever | grep ^Default\ mount' will list explicit file system mount options.
Yeah, tune2fs will as well :)
TrevorH
as far as I can tell from this, acl is default on ext4 by virtue of being in tune2fs output but it's default on ext3 by virtue of being part of the "defaults" fstab option
I should also look more closely at ext3's tune2fs output since it's also default there ;)
hwdplinux
so its not mandatory to mount with the acl flag, is what I am getting from this
Bahhumbug
Nothing in /etc/mke2fs.conf either.
hwdplinux
all tests point to acl being default on ext4
wonder if it will survive a reboot
thanks guys
Can TCP Wrappers be used in conjunction with iptables? Or is it a bad idea?

how to fix? :(
