StalkingKillah
My client crashed
And I didn't get to read the responses
Bahhumbug
[15:16:53] <Bahhumbug> Not without a lot of pain and suffering and effectively re-spinning the install media.
[15:17:15] <@TrevorH> StalkingKillah: what's the actual goal?
StalkingKillah
The integrated nic on my mb uses forced_eth driver, the mb has an nforce chipset
the client kept crashing on me
so, any tips on adding forced_eth to the installer kernel?

xand: I ended up using something like "a=$(pidof nginx); for word in $a; do ls -la /proc/$word/fd; done". I am replying of the date of the file handles, is lsof giving better guarantees?
In terms of what is using those files and when they were last used.
xand
lsof reads it from /proc
Bahhumbug
StalkingKillah: Please do not private message me.
I have no additional insight on this issue past what I mentioned earlier.
TrevorH
StalkingKillah: just do the install normally and have kmod-forcedeth on a usb stick
StalkingKillah
sorry
thanks, that's what I've been doing
i wanted to streamline the process and use pxe
for booting
Bahhumbug
In theory you can create a driver disk and then either specify it manually during an install or just do everything automatically via kickstart.
Said 'disk' can be a USB stick I believe.

bviktor
guys, semodule -l lists the modules, but how do i view the details of a specific module?
sdgathman
bviktor: find the .te or .te.gz file
bviktor
um, right, but what's up if it's a built-in module?
(even if i assume that .te file corresponds to the installed module)
PryMar56
using rpmbuild with a pkg.spec, once I list Patch1: ab.patch .. Patch10: ef.patch, how is this macro defined? %{patches}
or, what is its expected value?

Best way to center the div with the code (crayon-main), without affecting other divs of the same class on other pages? https://thomaso.me/uncategorized/exercise-5-1
Bahhumbug
Umm, wrong channel perhaps?
thomas_d
Well I know ##css is for css, but I'm not sure about the whole "only affecting this within the one post" part of the question. That's going to be to do with wordpress isn't it?
Bahhumbug
Which still doesn't have much if anything to do with this channel.
#wordpress exists on this network, however.
thomas_d
... oh damn this is the centos channel
sorry thought it was wordpress lol
Bahhumbug
:)
It's all good.

hello im having problems with bind in centos 7, i have this zone file http://pastebin.com/CXSZ4h4V but it constantly says unexpected end of input and in named-confcheck ity says unexpected token near end of file please can someone help me
davidmichaelkarr
I'm still trying to deal with my problem with closing the lid on this HP CentOS7 laptop. I set "HandleLidSwitch=ignore" in logind.conf, and I've rebooted and logged back in. I closed the lid and nothing appeared to happen, which was initially good news, but the bad news is that the system was now completely frozen, except for the mouse cursor and the power
button. Nothing else does anything.
And I have an external monitor connected, with "mirror display" set.
Note that I'm using a HP port replicator that my monitor and keyboard are plugged into, with a usb connector from the replicator to the laptop.

http://bugs.centos.org - look for similar issues there with possible workarounds. If nothing found open a new ticket. Do the same at https://bugzilla.redhat.com and link the CentOS ticket to the BZ ticket in the field provided.

TrevorH: Got it
Bahhumbug
Err...
@bugs
centbot
To report a reproducible bug please open tickets at both http://bugs.centos.org and https://bugzilla.redhat.com and link the CentOS bug to the Red Hat bug in the field provided.
Bahhumbug
Replacing 'bugs' with your text makes sense to me.
(I added 'bugs', I don't care if it's replaced)
davidmichaelkarr
It becomes difficult sometimes to figure out which of you is a human. :)
Any idea what category of the hundreds available that I should choose?
Bahhumbug
I'd have to look and to be honest I'm far to lazy. Pick something that looks like it makes sense; it can be reclassified if necessary.
s/to lazy/too lazy/

TrevorH
they were your words ;)
@alias remove yougotabug
centbot
TrevorH: Got it
Bahhumbug
Indeed. I did think the second was better, however.
It's all good. I'll touch up @bugs.
TrevorH
@alias add bugs echo If you think you have a bug then report it on http://bugs.centos.org - look for similar issues there with possible workarounds. If nothing found open a new ticket. Do the same at https://bugzilla.redhat.com and link the CentOS ticket to the BZ ticket in the field provided.

TrevorH: Got it
Bahhumbug
Awesome.
You saved me work. I like that.
:)
TrevorH
I just finished updating and rebooting a dozen systems tonight so a little cut'n'paste doesn't seem like work
Bahhumbug
I've got a buttload I need to do at some point as well.
(Action) sighs
TrevorH
working my way through the whole lot, about half way through so far, quite a lot more late nights to go
davidmichaelkarr
Bahhumbug: What project should I select on the redhat issues site?
Bahhumbug
19:41:47] <Bahhumbug> I'd have to look and to be honest I'm far to lazy. Pick something that looks like it makes sense; it can be reclassified if necessary.
davidmichaelkarr
By "link the CentOS ticket to the BZ ticket in the field provided", is that a field on the CentOS issue, or the BZ issue?
Bahhumbug
That could have been worded better. There is a field provided for such a thing on the BZ form.
pj
it would make sense to link both ways, where there isn't a field just with a comment, imo.
davidmichaelkarr
Bahhumbug: Ok, well, all done.
Bahhumbug
Good deal.

MrPeppah
Any suggestions on best practices for setting up security for a LEMP server? Using rkhunterm f2b, not using default ssh info
metaspike
fail2ban
general hardening practices...
MrPeppah
just asking
metaspike
also you can put /www into a seperate partition and isolate it various ways, and get selinux on it
as well
service only user for runnning LEMP processes etc
fenrus02
what would the 'e' be in that acronym ?
MrPeppah
only user for the files is nginx, selinux is on. But everything is in the default var/www
nginx
fenrus02
where's the 'e' in nginx?
Bahhumbug
Please ntoe that this channel is not well suited for meta-questions.
MrPeppah
pronouced engine-x
Bahhumbug
sigh, note even
MrPeppah
what?
fenrus02
https://access.redhat.com/documentation/en-US/Red_Hat_Enterprise_Linux/7-Beta/html/Security_Guide/
MrPeppah
Thank you fenrus02
fenrus02
read the official docs first. after those - then you go for additional things like https://benchmarks.cisecurity.org/downloads/benchmarks/
if you _still_ have unanswered items, that are *not* in those - then you ask a specific question about it .. not generalized.
MrPeppah
alright thank you
Bahhumbug
Let me add one thing. selinux. Do Not Disable It.
MrPeppah
One thing I didn't do. I left it enabled, every tutorial you read tells you to disable it
Bahhumbug
I like you already.
MrPeppah
I'll bring cookies next time. Off to read, thank you for the info
Bahhumbug
:)
Good luck,.
