Zathrus: I removed the gateway that I set on my additional NIC and things work as I wanted now
Blackthorn
ok thanks i wasn't quite sure of the termonology yet
sudhirkhanger
where do you guys go for non-synchronous communications? CentOS forums or serverfault.com or anyother place.
billings
mailing lists?
CentOS has several.
Evolution
we have both forums and mailing lists
phibs
subdriven: use facebook
er
sudhirkhanger: ^
sudhirkhanger
er?
xand
ew
sudhirkhanger
billings: forums are more desirable than mailing lists as the volume of messages weighs me down.

phibs
well sometimes you just have to do the needful
subdriven
phibs: no.
not just no, but hell no
phibs
subdriven: haha
subdriven
(Action) isn't on facebook & is quite happy with that.
Bahhumbug
There is a facebook group just for CentOS.
You might like it.
sudhirkhanger
I will give forums and facebook group both a try. The reason I mentioned serverfault.com is because I would want to ask questions about everything LAMP stack and apps I run over it.

sudhirkhanger: I haven't been to the Facebook page(s) for CentOS so can't say what they're like, but I suspect the suggestion was in jest..
Zathrus
not so much in jest as in abject horror
Bahhumbug
Zathrus: Have you ever been there? Have you experienced it first hand?
You don't know the horrors I've been through if not.
Zathrus
Bahhumbug: I avoid FB entirely if at all possible
Bahhumbug
I'll collect some of the choicer snippets of wisdom and send them to you.
You're welcome.
billings
(Action) can't stand forums. With mailing lists at least you can read it using a mail client.
plus I pipe certain senders to valspeak
Zathrus
billings: like, I can totally see you, like, doing that to ToddandMargo.
Bahhumbug
Does valspeak make people more more intelligent?
(I know what it does, but it's a valid point...)
(Action) notices this isn't -social
sudhirkhanger
I agree with that. I wish mailing lists were a little user friendly. With forums I can subscribe to a subforum via RSS and then follow individual topics. mailing lists if not very well moderated can become an endless chore.
Bahhumbug
Eh, not really so much. Use a threaded MUA and you should be fine.
But in the end it's all personal choice.
sudhirkhanger
what's a MUA?
uid1
Mail User Agent: Thunderbird, etc.
sudhirkhanger
oh okay. I use kmail which does make reading mailing list much more easier. I probably need to unsubscirbe from Fedora mailing lists. They seem to be source of endless discussions. :)
itissid
Hi is there any way to find if nginx process has an open handle on a specific log file? I want to create an alert based on weather nginx log locations are changed by some admin.

xand
itissid: use lsof.
StalkingKillah
Guys, is there any way to swap the kernel included with the installer with a kernel from kernel-plus repo?
Bahhumbug
Not without a lot of pain and suffering and effectively re-spinning the install media.
TrevorH
StalkingKillah: what's the actual goal?
