Just googled "linux report disk usage". Got df/du hits. Parsing df output seems a bit awkward.
The linebreaks on long volume names will be annoying too...
Added "python" first and got a reference to statvfs.
Bahhumbug
spade: man df, reference -P option.
spade
I maned through it, but didn't check what that POSIX format was. Is it guaranteed to adjust columns based on longest volume name?
Can there be spaces in a volume name? We don't do that, but um.
Bahhumbug
There can be. And people that do that get everything they deserve :)
spade
I think I can work around it with a regex with a greedy (.+) for the first capture and then groups of \s+(\S+)
That would at least support spaces in the volume name.
At no real cost.

Where can I find 2005 - 2006 bootable Live CentOS distros?
And is there a way to look for information via command line for file.ko?
20060524
TrevorH
is there some particular exploit you're interested in in such an old version?
skibur
nope, just old ATI Radeon Drivers inside the CentOS 5.6 Live ios
iso
TrevorH
5.6 was 2011 not 2006
but old stuff can be found on vault.centos.org

skibur
Thanks
I'm on it right now.
5.0 was 2007
darius93
what was that option for mock that helps to make sure dependencies arent clean out on failure?
PryMar56
darius93, --no-cleanup-after
that should be success or failure
darius93
thanks PryMar56

So: mdadm --add /dev/md0 /dev/sdb succeeds. However, mdadm --detail /dev/md0 does not show sdb after I run that command. As best I understand, /dev/md0 is a container for /dev/md126, which is SUPPOSED to be a RAID 1 mirror between /dev/sda and /dev/sdb.
I have a feeling I'm doing it wrong, but I'm not sure how to actually fix my degraded mirror (which is bootable since /dev/sda is fine)
/dev/sdb is a blank drive.
TrevorH
you're really using the whole device for mdadm, not partitioned?
pastebin the contents of /proc/mdadm
CuriosTiger
The device is partitioned (/boot and an lvm group) but I want to mirror the whole drive. The goal of that is to ensure /dev/sdb is bootable on its own if /dev/sda fails.
One moment,
TrevorH: http://terex.bigrig.org/md.txt
Note there's a discrepancy between md126 (degraded array) and md127 (which does not seem to exist, but is listed in /etc/md.conf)
/etc/mdadm.conf rather
(Disclaimer: I didn't set this system up originally, but I did do a reinstall (CentOS 6.7) using the existing partitions. I'm a bit uncertain how md and lvm interact.)
TrevorH
that looks like some sort of FakeRAID is in use too
under /dev/md0 you have Version : imsm
CuriosTiger
TrevorH: Yeah, Intel FakeRAID was enabled in the BIOS previously. I did a BIOS flash and set the drive mode to AHCI as it seemed a bad idea to have both the bios and md trying to provide the same functionality
TrevorH
pretty sure that imsm stuff means you didn't get rid of it completely
CuriosTiger
Is there a way to get rid of it completely without blowing away /dev/sda?
TrevorH
what does `mdadm --detail-platform` say?
CuriosTiger
I'm fine with redefining the array from scratch as long as I don't blow away my data in the process.
mdmon: imsm capabilities not found for controller: /sys/devices/pci0000:00/0000:00:1f.2 (type SATA)
TrevorH
afraid I don't understand what's going on so I'm out
CuriosTiger
TrevorH: I was afraid of that. This isn't very intuitive.
TrevorH
I'd back up your data before you experiment though
CuriosTiger
TrevorH: Where does md store persistent data? It clearly survived a Linux reinstall, so I know it's not just /etc/mdadm.conf. It also does not seem to be in the partition map, since parted only shows /boot and an lvm container.
TrevorH
dmraid -E -r /dev/sdX but I won't guarantee it won't remove your data too
CuriosTiger
TrevorH: We already have a full backup, but recopying 4TB of data is painful.
TrevorH: Yeah, that's why I've been afraid to try it.
alturic
is there anyway to do something like this: ln -s /original/dir/{file1,file2} /symlink/prefix-{file1,file2}?

CuriosTiger
alturic: Yes, but you'd have to write a script to do it.
alturic
So a simple loop?
CuriosTiger
a simple loop walking through a list of filenames, yes. file1, file2 etc.
alturic
Gotcha, thanks.

(Action) tries changing back to "RAID" mode in the BIOS
TrevorH: So it SEEMS to be working now. Apparently, mdraid was just refusing to touch it until I put it back into RAID mode in the BIOS.
Going into the BIOS, changing AHCI back to RAID and rebooting made it start mirrorring. Still not sure where the extraneous entry in /dev/mdadm.conf came from though
TrevorH
now what does --detail-platform say?
CuriosTiger
http://terex.bigrig.org/detail.txt
TrevorH
that looks more like it
CuriosTiger
yep. I guess the moral of the story is that if I want to disable FakeRAID, I need to blow away any arrays and start over

arinov, dont poll here. it's beyond annoying. just google and figure out which one matches your needs best.

fenrus02, ok, dont be so angry
fenrus02
arinov, who said i was angry? you merely asked an irrelevant question that you can answer for yourself simply by looking.
