after `setenforce 1` I'm getting this -> Database connection error (2): Could not connect to MySQL.
Should I allow apache to connect to mariadb somehow with selinux?
fenrus02
if your www server needs to contact the dbms, then yes. there's a boolean for it.
fling
setsebool -P httpd_can_network_connect_db=1
fixed with this ^
fenrus02: thanks ;>
fenrus02
you might need to relabel some files too, because you had been in permissive / disabled mode for a time
(Action) shrugs .. just something to look in the logs for if you start seeing avc's
fling
fenrus02: ok

genkgo
i have a problem with apf (firewall) on centos. the problem is not related to centos (i believe). last night, apf blocked port 3310 on its localhost, which is the port for clamd. now people were not able to send email anymore. why would apf block the clamd port?
Zerberus
genkgo: sorry, CentOS does not ship that piece of software, thus this channel cannot support it
genkgo
Zerberus: understood. would you what is the best place to pose this question?
*know
Zerberus
I have no idea
genkgo
Zerberus: if you advice me on taking another firewall (not apf), which one would you choose?
Zerberus: for a CentOS machine
Zerberus
genkgo: CentOS ships with iptables, CentOS 7 has the firewalld on top of that
genkgo
Zerberus: alright, then i guess that would best for me. For brute force detection, does iptables or firewalld has a solution for that?
Zerberus
you can write rulesets withh iptables - I guess apf is nothing else than a wrapper around iptables
genkgo
Zerberus: that means that switching would be pretty easy?
carbonator
genkgo: a lot of people use fail2ban for automating
genkgo
carbonator: and then together the other two apps, so the stack becomes iptables, firewalld and fail2ban
right?
carbonator
genkgo: I don't use firewalld personally
genkgo
Zerberus: but if apf is a tool around iptables (which is correct i believe, iptables -L, returns a lot) , then why would iptables block a local connection to clamd?
Zerberus
genkgo: we cannot answer
