dijack
hey guys..need some assistance with a reverse ssh on centos 6 http://pastie.org/10320893
Xat`
dijack: what are you trying to solve ? you want to disable reverse dns check ?
dijack
I just want to do a port forward though ssh
that's what I'm trying to do from my ssh
Xat`
do you have the same warning without local port forwarding ?
dijack
let me check
no Xat`
crowell
is the bug tracker broken/down?
i tried to register and am just given an error
APPLICATION ERROR #2800
Invalid form security token. This could be caused by a session timeout, or accidentally submitting the form twice.
Xat`
crowell did you retry ?
crowell
Xat`: now it just tells me the username is in use
but it never sent me an email
so i don't have a password
Xat`
crowell: MTA could be pretty long
sometimes..

Regarding the recent libuser vulnerabilities, is there a standard way to update to correct these or are we still waiting on patches?
Bahhumbug
@libuser
centbot
Updated libuser packages addressing RHSA-2015-1482 / (CVE-2015-3245 and CVE-2015-3246) are available in the 'updates' repo for C7 and in the 'cr' repo (http://wiki.centos.org/AdditionalResources/Repositories/CR) for C6. See https://access.redhat.com/articles/1537873 for more information, including mitigation steps for C5.

Bahhumbug: thanks

Hello all again, I have another trouble but now with httpd, I have two virtualhost, both are directed to the firts
Xat`
alexove: that's not really related to centos
you should ask to #apache first
also you should post your configuration files using URL in the channel topic
alexove
ok thank you
Xat`

Hello, does anyone know why perl-Crypt-Blowfish is not available in CentOS 7?
acidrainfall
Because blowfish is deprecated?
oh
they left
pj
my answer would be that it was never in centos, it was in epel, so he'd have to ask in #epel why they left it out of 7.
dijack
has anyone here ever used virt-manager to setup a VM?
acidrainfall
pj: I guess since I haven't used it in so many years I've never even looked at where it came from
PryMar56
I built perl-Crypt-Blowfish for el7 using cpan2rpm.. nothing special about it
pj
yep, should be pretty easy
but I think cpanspec is recommended nowadays
hwdplinux
I was looking through my anaconda-ks.cfg file and see that the network directive has --onboot no but the network was up and running after install.
elf
anyone here know much about spacewalk and errata for centos

HI all

http://linux.slashdot.org/story/15/07/30/1814200/samsung-finds-fixes-bug-in-linux-trim-code

lucas-arg
hello all
im trying to install centos 7 on my laptop
and i cant even boot it
it doesnt really give me any message of error

dijack
hey guys, I'm trying bind ports on my local machine to host
but, I'm getting this
reverse mapping checking getaddrinfo failed - POSSIBLE BREAK-IN ATTEMPT!
any ideas? I'm running centos 6
I've disabled selinux
TrevorH
that has nothing to do with selinux
that is that a reverse dns lookup doesn't translate backwards
lucas-arg: did you check the md5sum of your downloaded file? what are you booting from?
lucas-arg
TrevorH: from an usb drive... it boots from my desktop it just wont boot from my laptop
TrevorH
how did you create the usb stick?
dijack
TrevorH: does this prevents my port from being binded?
I'm using ssh with -L
lucas-arg
TrevorH: rufus usb creator
dijack
so wondering if that would impact the binding
TrevorH
lucas-arg: a lot of tools like that are broken, use dd instead as per the link

Information on USB key based installs can be found at http://wiki.centos.org/HowTos/InstallFromUSBkey
lucas-arg
ok i will try
another thing i just wanted to know
does centos have pspp package?
sstory
Have trouble on 6.5 getting vlc without hosing yum updates. If I enable nux-dextop I wind up breaking it. How can I get vlc and standard media playing CODECS like MP3, etc without breaking yum?
To that end I uninstalled all packages from nux-dextop and yum updates works, but still can't play multimedia desired.
TrevorH
pastebin all the output from yum when it's "broken"
sstory
TrevorH: Thanks, but not broken now. I was hoping for proper direction on getting vlc working. Is nux-dextop the only place for that? Do I use priority= (something > EPEL and base), or do I just enable it to install that one package. What is the proper way to do it without hosing everything?
TrevorH
nux-dextop should just work and should not break anything. I suspect that you have conflicting repos installed and haven't prioritised them correctly
sstory
TrevorH: OK. How does one know what is correct?
Trevor: base files are 1; oracle=50 for VirtualBox; epel 11; adobe 56; linuxtech 80 (but disabled and uninstalled everything from there)
TrevorH
without seeing how it "breaks" I cannot give you anything elcept guesswork
kill linuxtech
epel should be preferred to nux
vee
hello, i am having troubles pxe-booting a centos 7.1 (1503) system; i get the boot menu via syslinux, i get past the loading of my ks.cfg via http, but after it loads the kickstart file, the dhcp-ip is lost and it cannot load the liveos squashfs from my repo. i have used a handful of 'network --device=eth0 ...' configs, for dhcp (and even static ip). i have even set the boot options with an ip but have not
had any luck. The github centos community only has examples of kickstarting up to centos 6.6 - are there any examples for 7.x or a recommended method for this?
wolfy
vee: there is no real difference towards 6.6 in this aspect
sstory
TrevorH: OK. I should install nux again? Actually 64 bit 6.6 is my OS version.
wolfy
vee: I suspect the interface naming you use is incorrect
vee
wolfy: ah well that is good re. no-differene. the interface i thought too, would be incorrect. i was actually shocked it was using ethX - after it times out the squshfs, it does load eth0 but has no IP there
wolfy
sstory: nux+ epel + base&updates work fine
vee
when i did the first-install from the CD, it actually did use eth0 for my install - not quite sure why
wolfy
I'd expect 7 to not use eth but the new naming scheme
vee
then i copied the anaconda-ks.cfg out and modified it trying to get the local-repo + network working
wolfy
em1 maybe/
vee
to be fair, this is the iso "CentOS-7-x86_64-Minimal-1503-01.iso"
i do recall seeing one without that -01 at the end, had no idea what the diff was
wolfy
CentOS-7-x86_64-Minimal-1503-01.iso is fine
PryMar56
vee, did you copy the hidden files from the ISO to your repo (.treeinfo, etc)
sstory
TrevorH: Do I leave nux-dextop enabled=0 and only enable to install vlc, etc?
vee
ok cool - well it 'reached the target basic system' after it pulls the ks.cfg - then just times out getting the rest of the files via dracut-iniqueue
PryMar56: i do not see any access-attempts in my http server
wolfy
PryMar56: if they were missing a different error would be displayed
TrevorH
sstory: I leave it enabled
vee
its weird, simply just un-dhcp's itself
wolfy
vee: do you have access to the command console at that point ?
