But yeah, in terms of ability to control, Vultr is definitely a bit better than DO in that respect. DO still controls your kernel, which sucks.

rogger_h
i need someone to configure a server
hifi
there's people you can hire to do that
rogger_h
i dont mind hiring
Bahhumbug
This off-topic for this channel. Please use #centos-social or even a more topical channel such as #magento.

rogger_h
how can it be off topic
but ok :)
so im looking for hiring , if someone want
radonx
how do i start xterm?
rogger_h
there is a channel that i can hire centos guy?
Motoko
Try sites like freelancer or odesk.
arinov
what's the best for optimus laptops now? c6 or c7?
fusmu
hey guys, do I need some specific repo in yum to get all xfce4 packages, because now when i search for xfce4 i cannot find all of them (for example i'm missing screensaver and notification)
wolfy
arinov: afaik elrepo ships the same drivers for both centos releases
jasem_
hi
hifi
fuhry: epel has a lot of xfce4
jasem_
i had a problem with home dir after migrating it to another server, and after changing the permissions, i think i missed up
home dir is mounted on nfs share , and before i used public key to login between 2 hosts, now it doesnt work anymore, and even .bashrc is not loaded on login
Zerberus
jasem_: so what is the result from checking the permissions?
jasem_
Zerberus:i dont know what check, i just changed the .ssh content to 600 and only .pub and authorized keys to 640
this is a ssh -vvv from one host to another http://pastebin.centos.org/35911/
TrevorH
look in /var/log/secure on the server
jasem_
Authentication refused: bad ownership or modes for directory /home/admoradba/.ssh
TrevorH
there you go then
jasem_
lool
now i got bad ownership or modes for directory /home/admoradba
it looks like i missed with all permissions of this home dir
now ssh with key works fine.
but the .bashrc is not loaded

Is there a way to disable completely journald on el7 ?
I already disabled persistent storage but it still keeps eating way too much performances for my openldap service
fenrus02
tell your openldap daemon to log less. that's the only way journald would consume cpu.
coredumb
fenrus02: yeah actually the only way to make it behave is NOT logging at all
such a drag
on EL7 the exact same config is performing 5 times worse than on EL6 because of that
same logging level and config
fenrus02
(Action) shrugs. you've done something wrong then. it's ~30% better performing for openldap here.
or perhaps you're blaming the wrong target.

Zerberus
coredumb: what log_level is configured?
coredumb
Zerberus: been using sync without a hitch on el6
makes queries take 5s on EL7 where it was less than 1 on 6
Zerberus
and why do you think it has to do with systemd-journald?
coredumb
because it's topping more than 40% CPU when I'm querying
and that disabling persistent storage has made my queries fall from 5s to 1.5s
wolfy
(Action) blames the actual storage device
coredumb
wolfy: pretty much the same as on EL6...
wolfy
is it the exact same hardware ? and by exact same I do not mean identical or similar
coredumb
it's all VMs
wolfy
then I suspect you have an issue there with the drivers
access to storage is slow, not journald in particular
coredumb
openvm tools
access to staorage is not slower than anywhere else ...
wolfy
well then, you might be the lucky winner who found a bug which does not affect anyone else:)
TrevorH
what is the contents of the journal log
coredumb
oh you can't even start to guess how many of that kinds I found :D

Is there a package for pvgrub compiled for virtio?
Flotho66
Hi folks
I have a selinux question, I've uploaded a dokuwiki in the /var/www/html/dokuwiki folder
running the install with selinux activated failed, with setenforce 0 it succeed. What do I have to do for setting this folder as "legal"
restorecon?
TrevorH
CentOS 5 6 or 7?
Flotho66
sorry, centos7
TrevorH
clear your audit log, run in permissive mode and then use audit2allow to create a policy file
@selinux
centbot
Useful resources for SELinux: http://wiki.centos.org/HowTos/SELinux | http://wiki.centos.org/TipsAndTricks/SelinuxBooleans | http://docs.fedoraproject.org/en-US/Fedora/13/html/Security-Enhanced_Linux/ | http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bQqX3RWn0Yw | http://opensource.com/business/13/11/selinux-policy-guide
TrevorH
the first link there has some pretty good instructions, the others fill in anything that might be missing
Flotho66
TrevorH, thanks for the specific module, but isn't the /var/www/html folder supposed to allow web file?
TrevorH
it's also possible that you don't want to allow the access after the install anyway
if you put the files in the /var/www/html/dokuwiki folder using mv then they might be mislabeled
JHogarth
in which case restorecon shoudl/might do the right thing
Flotho66
I've unzip an archive, I made a restorecon an have the following label : unconfined_u:object_r:httpd_sys_content_t:s0
TrevorH
yes, readonly access
NuxRo
TrevorH: there you go http://fpaste.org/287319/74029814/raw/ - the results from snmpwalk
Flotho66
yet with enforced, it failed on denied { write }, do you recommand to adapte sebooleans?
TrevorH
NuxRo: that's working then
HOST-RESOURCES-MIB::hrStorageAllocationUnits.36 = INTEGER: 16384 Bytes
and HOST-RESOURCES-MIB::hrStorageUsed.36 = INTEGER: 413875159
multiply those 2 together and get > 16TB
NuxRo
oh, indeed hmpf
TrevorH
63TB?
JHogarth
if you need a directory that is writeable use semanage fcontext -a -t httpd_sys_content_rw_t '/path/to/folder(/.*)?' and then restorecon so that the folder and contents is configured correctly for httpd to write to it
TrevorH
Flotho66: don't forget that the _install_ may need to be allowed to do things that you do not want to allow during normal use
Sokel
And that's why you use audit2why and audit2allow to see what it's trying to do.
JHogarth
TrevorH: +1
TrevorH
it may well be that when you do the install the best thing to do is to set it permissive so that it can do what you expect it to do but once the install is complete you want to forbid it from changing its own config file etc
NuxRo
TrevorH: nope, 18TB, and .. UCD-SNMP-MIB::dskTotal.2 = INTEGER: 2147483647
TrevorH
NuxRo: then I think you are looking at the wrong oid
JHogarth
or you have gone beyond the definition of that OID and broken it with that much storage :p
NuxRo
it's not that much..
there are people with hundred fold more :)
how do they monitor sh*t?
TrevorH
the way they fixed it was to change the hrstorage oids so adjust the size of the units it uses so that the number of units fits in a 32 signed integer
JHogarth
eh ... the specs for this stuff on occasion was written ages ago ... and then bandaided
NuxRo
yes, kind of understood this
