Hey guys, any ideas why semanage fcontext -a -t public_content_rw_t '/var/www(/.*)?' gives this: libsemanage.dbase_llist_query: could not query record value (No such file or directory).
pocketprotector
kickstart creates vg_root on vdc instead of vda (which is where I want it). It leaves vdb alone. Any ideas? http://pastebin.ca/3263691
tried using ignoredisk but no joy
boot/swap end up on /dev/vda1,2 and the vg_root is on /dev/vdc
TrevorH
@uname cynixx3
centbot
cynixx3, please paste the single line of output from the 'uname -a' command run on the server in question to the channel.
TrevorH
the kickstart doc has --ondisk=
pocketprotector
Trying ondisk now for the pv.01
"will it boot?"
wonder why it skipped vdb and went directly to vdc, though. All three disks are identical in size.

Hello all! I'm running CentOS 7. Is there a desktop switcher app that can go in the status bar like we used to have? Having to mouse up to the top left corner and then all the way over to the right to select a desktop is way too slow.

Bahhumbug
heh. 'way too slow'.
cynixx3
Linux green1.avaliddomain.com 2.6.32-279.14.1.el6.x86_64 #1 SMP Tue Nov 6 23:43:09 UTC 2012 x86_64 x86_64 x86_64 GNU/Linux
Bahhumbug
Thanks for sharing.
You may want to update that since it's 3+ years behind on updates.
cynixx3
ahah ya. That would be nice. Some hardware is preventing a kernel update.
Bahhumbug
Hope that's not internet facing as there are _multiple_ security issues at play.
cynixx3
any thoughts on the curl issue though?
Bahhumbug
Not off-hand.
TrevorH
cynixx3: almost certainly the curl issue is due to your ancient openssl not supporting current protocols so there's a very good chance it will fix that too
billings
iirc curl didn't have the tls support back then
Bahhumbug
cynixx3: rpm -q curl centos-release -> pastebin, please
(kernel rev != platform release)
TrevorH
but when you are running a -279 el6.3 kernel the chances are that the rest of your system is chronically backlevel too
Bahhumbug
Could be. He/She stated 'hardware' related reasons. I find that questionable but still somewhat possible. I'm just curious, really.
TrevorH
I suspect that might be fixable too
cynixx3
TrevorH, http://pastebin.centos.org/36341/
Here is the -v output between https://www.paypal. and https://paypal. http://pastebin.centos.org/36346/
Bahhumbug
TrevorH: Sans kernel he's current.
p.centos.org is slower than dirt for me.
On a patched 6.7 instace curl https://www.paypal.com/home -v works perfectly fine for me.
I am hitting a different host than you.
cynixx3
okay so build curl manually?
Or what do I do for the patched version?
Bahhumbug
It's a local issue on your box or a problem with the individual host you are hitting. I am running the same version and going to the same url as you are having issues with and I have no problems.
When I said
When I said 'patched' above I meant current and updated.
cynixx3
okay. so if you could help me brainstorm. What would allow me to use https and access non www but connection refused for www.
Bahhumbug
"Trying 23.78.209.37... Connection refused" is not an ssl or curl issue. The target host is refusing connections.
Akami _does_ break on occasion.
Meh..
Akamai.
Flush dns, see if you can get a different host to respond. Add an override in /etc/hosts pointing to a known working host.
Contact Paypal / Akamai and report the dead server.
(Action) Zzzz
cynixx3
Will try that Bahhumbug, Thank you.

join #wordpress
lol i done a bad job at joining wordpress please disregarding that :O
I have a centos 6.7 server with 2gb of ram running 22 wordpress installs, it is hitting average of 1.9 gb of ram out of 2gb, do you think it's time to upgrade ram on the server, or optimize wordpress installs for better ram usage?
pj
ScoDal: only you can answer that question.
it depends entirely on what is more important to you, the savings you'd get from not having to buy more RAM, or the time spend optimizing WP.
ScoDal
well I mean all signs point to yes, but that costs money so I thought somneone might know a way to make it run more efficient
both are huge pj
cause i am inevitably going to upgrade either way but it would be nice to know i'm making smarter choices to delay future costly upgrades (with wordpress)
pj
ScoDal: I would imagine that with that many WP installs to fix up the cost of more RAM would likely be better. If it were me I would probably throw more RAM at it now and then focus on making WP more efficient when I can.
kahrl
just to make sure, is the memory actually used by WP (or other usermode processes) or by the kernel for buffers and cache?
ScoDal
pj that is very logical thank you, and kahrl i would assume wordpress considering i bought this server and it was fine and all i've done is take on clients and repeatedly install wordpress and bust it out with my custom themes
pj
also I think you'll find that the number of WP installs is irrelevant irt the amount of RAM used, what is more important is the amount of traffic you're getting which equates directly to the number of child workers which in turn equates to the amount of RAM needed.
kahrl
ScoDal: well where did you see the 1.9 GB figure?
ScoDal
for the last few days i've pulled up the live server stats, i forget what it is they use at theprimehost.com but it shows me a graph
pj
WP installs take up disk space, they don't take up RAM until someone actually browses to the site.
ScoDal
and it's always at 1.9
it didn't used to be
i can't run easyapache not even from ssh
pj
ScoDal: use a pastebin, what is the output of: free -m
ScoDal
am i in the right chat to talk about centos server?
kahrl
yes
pj
ummmm, yes, that is why this is #centos
ScoDal
my bad just curious cause i like centos so much i like it as desktop usage as well lol
pj
this channel is for both desktop and server usage.
ScoDal
great
ok just a moment for the pastebin
I don't have enough ram to pastebin lol
this is bad
can't even use my dang clipboard
I'm having cpanel and whm errors too
pj
oh gawd
!cpanel
centbot
We are not able to support either cpanel or the boxes that it is installed upon here due to the many changes that this application makes to the base OS. Please ask in the semi-official #cpanel channel here on Freenode (/join #cpanel) or you may alternatively open a free ticket up via http://tickets.cpanel.net/submit
ScoDal
I mean I bought a VPS it happens that's what they give you
pj
as for RAM, you should be able to copy and paste from your desktop
ScoDal
im trying
it isn't copying
pj
anyways, I have to go
ScoDal
i'm remoted in
i can type it
it's what i told you tho
at the moment free is 229
used 1818
total 2048
kahrl
ScoDal: what are the numbers after "-/+ buffers/cache"?
ScoDal
same, 1818 used and 229 free
i've hit the mother fricking ram ceiling i need to fix it lol
kahrl
ok, so it is indeed usermode, probably WP
ScoDal
most likely we targeted wp with this server to make our lives easier
