I installed a web server on centos7 which is on kvm, the IP address is 192.168.122.74/24, what is the best solution to make it accessible from the internet?
I used to use bridge, but is there any other ways?
bekks
Setup portforwarding on your router.
and use bridged on your kvm vm.
jalalsfs
bekks: Is there any other method instead of bridging?
bekks
No.
jalalsfs
bekks: Bridging with wireless connection is not available
bekks
Then you cant use bridging.
And then you cant use portforwarding from your router.

Hello. Got a n00b question. I am installing CentOS7 on a laptop. Fresh SSD. I would like to use BTRFS. The installation is telling me I need to add the mount points. I should have the boot mount point (is it /boot ?) and the "root" mount point (is it / ?) ??
jalalsfs
knob: Yes, that's right, make "/boot" 500MB
knob
thanks jalalsfs ... playing with it now back and forth.

hey if you install snort and are runnng systemd...do you need to start it like a daemon
if i do systemctl start snort
it says unit or something like that not found
if i do ps aux | grep snort
nothing comes up
fenrus02
depends if snort has a .service file associated with it. i dont see it in the repos i have enabled here, so no telling what you have.

jalalsfs
I changed the port of ssh, and I run "semanage port -a -t ssh_port_t -p tcp 2022"
But I cannot connect to it, I got "ssh: connect to host 192.168.122.10 port 2022: No route to host"
wolfy
jalalsfs: did you allow that port in the firewall?
jalalsfs
wolfy: no
wolfy: Like this: firewall-cmd --permanent --add-port=2022/tcp
wolfy
jalalsfs: beware that you need to allow it both in the running configuration and in the one stored on disk
--permanent only updates the stored one
jalalsfs
wolfy: Do you mean in the host and the client?
I have to open the port firewall in both of them?
wolfy
no
jalalsfs: https://access.redhat.com/documentation/en-US/Red_Hat_Enterprise_Linux/7/html/Security_Guide/sec-Using_Firewalls.html
jalalsfs: most notably 4.5.3.2.
jalalsfs
wolfy: Thank you so much

Centos 7.1 is crashing when i use IPv6 (BUG: unable to handle kernel paging request)
I've tried reading the vmcore dump, but i'm not a linux dev ^^;
could anyone point me to the right place to get help solving this issue?
fenrus02
file a bug report? but seems odd that it would work nicely for others, but panic on yours .. did you load some 3rd party kmods?
miketo
fenrus02: no taint, no 3rd party mods
i am using a v6 masquerading -- which i'm sure is not very common. the panic can eassily be triggered by sending v6 traffic through the machine (routing/NATing)
fenrus02: to be explicit: you assume it works for others, i'm saying others probably aren't using this feature
fenrus02
ah. i'm using ipv6 direct. no nat required.
seems a bit odd considering isp's allocate a range for even single-user homes.

miketo
as it was intended :) (i cant though)
fenrus02
likely a bug then.
miketo
and either way, seems like a bug. i'm searching mailing list now for any signs of this
but since redhat has heavily backported/modified kernel, it's going to me hard for me to match things up
fenrus02
search on redhat's bugzilla instead of the vanilla one
miketo
thanks ^^;; i was searching mailing list first. checking bugzilla now
searching in product rhel7, for oops ipv6 or panic ipv6 only return bugs related to virtualization -- is there something i'm missing ?
no sign of this issue in bugzilla -- do i file new bug with redhat or with centos?
