I have patched my mail server with qmail-dk in order to send mails to Google and Yahoo.
but I don't really wanna activate the domain-key method for the incoming mails,
I just need to handle the domain-key in the mail header for the outgoing mails..
my questions is, does qmail-dk works with only outgoing mails?
anyone, tell me please :)
Arrfab
Tini : anyone left an hour ago ... and i don't use qmail ....
(Action) should admit that the 'anyone left' is an orc_orc registred trademark ...
:-P

Tini
haha.....
:%s/anyone,//g
:p
Arrfab
Tini : any good reason why you don't use sendmail or postfix ? these 2 ones are provided by Centos, qmail is not ...
Tini
well..
craigbass1976
Is there a release schedule somewhere? There's a new RH coming out soon right? Will there be a new cent too?

I'm trying to install CentOS 4.3 on a Dell Optiplex 320. When I enter 'linux' or 'linux text' at the boot prompt, the install process hangs at /sbin/loader. When I enter 'linux noprobe' or 'linux text noprobe', it hangs at the "CD Found, to begin testing the cd media press OK" dialog.
What should I try now?
craigbass1976
Arrfab, is there a list of the new features? Which kernel, etc?
Arrfab
craigbass1976 : google is your friend ... but kernel 2.6.18 iirc ...
craigbass1976
Cool. I'm putting a bid on a job for what I think will be over a hundred laptops. I don't want fedora, or ubuntu, but I need wireless support without a bunch of jimmying
So that kernel makes me happy
Arrfab
craigbass1976 : you can download rhel5beta2 if you want to have an overview ... but that's pretty close to fc6 ...
craigbass1976
Last one I installed was 5. Had ubuntu and wanted it off, but I couldn't wait the extra week (delays of some sort I guess) so I put FC5 on.
Chairos
Anyone?
craigbass1976
Chairos, you try to check the media, or skip it? Could be a bunk disc

emann
Chairos: Have you tried a different version? I have had a similar problem. I would try and install a distro, and it would crash. I would then change to a different version and things would work.
Chairos
craigbass1976: I can't do either of those. It hangs AT the dialog and will not allow me to select either option.
craigbass1976
I ran knoppix on several optiplexes a couple years ago (only to grab windows data) and it worked ok.
Chairos, I don't know what to tell you. Anyone know of a way for him to check his disc?
Chairos
emann: I don't think I can do that; This is for a server to mirror our production server, which has CentOS 4.3 installed.
otherwise I'd install debian, since I'm more familiar with that.
emann
Chairos: it's just a test to see if it's the disk or the machine. it could be the CD drive
Chairos
(Action) nods.
okay then
emann
or bad memory
Chairos
well, it's brand new, but I suppose it's possible
emann
Dell?
low level vibration.
Chairos
yeah
emann
i get that from them every time i call
reseat eveything and if you still have the problem call us back.
:-D
(Action) remembers the good ol days.
Chairos
hah
pack_
is there a way to set up an up2date server that doesn't use yum? uses whatever that XMLRPC address in sysconfig/rhn/up2date
Chairos
oh. hm.
our prod server is running centos 4.4
well, there I go, then.
Arrfab
pack_ : no because iirc the server acting behind up2date is redhat close source ... setup a yum update repo inside of your network instead ...
pack_
Arrfab yeah I was hoping i wasn't going to have to put yum on all of my clients
emann
pack_: i remember a up2date server. don't know if it supported all the pnaelv features.
http://current.tigris.org/
there u go
Arrfab
pack_ : yum is installed by default on centos ...

thans emann
s/thans/thanks
Chairos
hm. ubuntu and debian also hang on install.
I wonder if it might have something to do with the USB keyboard, though.
emann
do u have a ps2?
Chairos
no, no ps2 ports on this machine
shortword
what machine is it?
Chairos
Dell Optiplex 320
shortword
Never used one, desktop PC i take it?
emann
does the installer timeout and just start to load?
i cannot remember. I am so used to typing things in.
Chairos
shortword: no, a server, i guess
shortword
er
Chairos
emann: no, the keyboard works at the boot: prompt
jinx099
Chairos: I just joined, but you are having a hang during install?
shortword
I mean't the hardware is desktop grade
Chairos
shortword: probably
jinx099: yes
<Chairos> I'm trying to install CentOS 4.3 on a Dell Optiplex 320. When I enter 'linux' or 'linux text' at the boot prompt, the install process hangs at /sbin/loader. When I enter 'linux noprobe' or 'linux text noprobe', it hangs at the "CD Found, to begin testing the cd media press OK" dialog.
shortword
(Action) installed centos x64 on a few dell sc1435's today
jinx099
Chairos: at what point does it hang, I'm getting a hang during an install of FC6
Chairos
I'm beginning to think it's not actually hung at the "CD Found" dialog, it's just not listening to the USB keyboard
jinx099: without 'noprobe', it hangs at the loading /sbin/loader line
emann
Chairos: can you start the loader and then remove the keyboard?
Chairos
I'll try that
emann
or would that not get you past the sreen it hangs on
s/sreen/screen/
jinx099
Chairos: thats really similar to my hang, my install continues if I DONT load the promise_sata, or sata_uli modules, are you using those by any chance?
Chairos
I'm not sure how I'd get past that screen without a keyboard, emann.
jinx099: this does have SATA hard drives, but I'm not loading anything specially.
emann
Chairos: ya i don't think vnc would work.
jinx099
I tried a vnc install and it did not help anyhting
Chairos
emann: kind of hard to install VNC with no OS, yeah
emann
you need to answer a few questions.
Chairos
okay. hm.
emann
Chairos: no you do a linux vnc and it will tell you what ip port to connect to
Chairos
with the keyboard unplugged, it went past the /sbin/loader part
emann
plug the keyboard back in
does it hang now?
Chairos
It is not responding to the keyboard.
emann
humm
Chairos
I have tried both the dell usb keyboard and a spare Apple keyboard I had handy
snowmoon
Chairos, linux noapic
I had a similar issue with a dell 6850
Chairos
snowmoon: will try
snowmoon
Chairos, it ppears to only affect the installer
k-y
sigh, hard reboot one too many times; now all that i get on boot is GRUB
Chairos
snowmoon: that still doesn't get the keyboard to work, though
snowmoon
Chairos, hmmm.... my system was installed via kickstart so I didn't have to use a keyboard
Have to tried noapic nousb ... hopefully the BIOS keyboard routines will still work
to->you
Chairos
no luck
snowmoon
Bugger
Chairos, I'm all out of ideas... I wish I could be of more help
Chairos, http://www.ubuntuforums.org/showthread.php?t=317560 seem to be an issue with the chipset
Chairos, http://lists.us.dell.com/pipermail/linux-desktops/2006-December/000091.html
Chairos
yay. :(
I've seen those.
emann
(Action) wishes everyone a nice night. I will get back on when i get to my other job
qkit
morning.
larstr
hi, I'm installing CentOS 4.4 on a hp G5 server. I'm wondering will the HP PSP give much performance gain? Everything works out of the box as is and I could only install the ilo agents, or?
Frankenstein
how can i run screen as a reg user?
larstr
franken: gnu screen?
Frankenstein
how can i run screen under centos under a regular user?
larstr
screen needs access to /tmp
and you also need the utempter lib
Frankenstein
so chmod tmp and install the lib files?
Zerberus
what is your problem? screen works out of the box on centos
larstr
you need to give users write access to tmp. I guess if you install screen the normal way it will also provide the utempter library
Frankenstein
screen was installed when i installed centos
larstr
and as Zerberus said, it works per default, unless you've changed permissions on /tmp
(that I know some admins have a habit of doing)
Frankenstein
what is the default chmod on /tmp?
Zerberus
1777
Frankenstein
ahh utemper is not installed anywhere
utempter *
argh, i was mistaken... it is...
Zerberus
that would be as a dependency
Frankenstein
hmm... when i try to run screen i get "Cannot open your terminal '/dev/ttyp1' - please check."
should those permissions also be changed? crw--w---- 1 root tty 3, 1 Dec 14 2005 /dev/ttyp1
Zerberus
ls -ld /dev/ttyp1
Frankenstein
crw--w---- 1 root tty 3, 1 Dec 14 2005 /dev/ttyp1
