dennisharrison
oh well
w1z3r
hmm weird
jig-saw
dennisharrison, two guys :P
dennisharrison, liquidweb.com is two guys or what :D?
Snake007uk
Evolution im not its just our creative guys need to send files to clients, and some random contractors
we need something that would be a good solution.
range
jig-saw: Okay. Spoonfeed time, as that's a bit more complicated then I assumed wrongly.
dennisharrison
yeah one is admin for bertucci inc and another is a voip providor in new york
Evolution
Snake007uk: then stand up a webserver ftp server and post files there.
range
jig-saw: cd /etc; cp yum.conf yum.conf.rpmforge
dennisharrison
Snake007uk check out plone.org for a quick fix

Snake007uk
at my previous place, we had a program were you would login put in recipents email address, and the user would get and email with a username and pass to access the file, they would have 5 days to get the file
dennisharrison
look into filesystem storage
range
jig-saw: Then do a "cat /etc/yum.repos.d/rpmforge.repo >> /etc/yumconf.rpmforge"
dennisharrison
jig-saw, well I havent personally used a vps over there
Snake007uk
dennisharrison thanks
dennisharrison
but a friend of mine works for ev1 and I know he keeps his stuff at their datacenter2 in good shape
range
jig-saw: Then edit /etc/yumconf.rpmforge with your favorite editor.
dennisharrison
np Snake007uk it will let you set access to folders and such and then upload large files or small files and allow only some to look at it
then comment
jig-saw
range, I'll get on to that in a min, let me finish my rant to the support :P
range
jig-saw: Throw out the "mirrorlist" lines. Remove the "#" in front of baseurl. Remove the "enabled" line and the "gpgkey" line.
I won't type that again.
Save the file.
dennisharrison
hehe
Snake007uk
dennisharrison i see, i wanted something more that would send email, or give user temp access via temp username and password, (which would last a couple of days) then both and file would be deleted.
dennisharrison
you can set times in plone
I know what you want and this will do it
Snake007uk
oh ok
dennisharrison
change the effective dates to what you want
Snake007uk
what about uuser accound and password
dennisharrison
you create it
range
jig-saw: Then do a "rpm --import /etc/pki/rpm-gpg/RPM-GPG-KEY-rpmforge*"
dennisharrison
or let them create it and assign the folder to them
Snake007uk
ok i see

dennisharrison
when the date is gone they no longer have access to the file
range
jig-saw: And then you should be able to install subversion with "yum -c /etc/yum.conf.rpmforge install subversion"
dennisharrison
you will have to delete it on your own or write a script for it
Snake007uk
ok i see thanks dennis
range
jig-saw: <http://pastebin.ca/169336>
dennisharrison
np Snake007uk
drop by #plone if you have questions
keep this #centos
range
jig-saw: Sorry. Use <http://pastebin.ca/169338> instead.
Snake007uk
dennisharrison thanks again :)
jig-saw
range, he problem is I saw no mirror lines and the base was not commented :P
in fact despite the cat the two files seem identical
oh sorry my bad
typo
range, you're incredible :P
range, I think it's working, it's getting the required stuff right now, thanks for all this.
range
dag: If I file a bug agains the rpmforge-release package regarding yum - will you tell me that I should use smart or apt? :)
dag: Regarding the yum in Centos3, that is.
dag
range: the rpmforge-release package cannot do the right thing with old yum
range: old yum does not allow me to add something properly
range
I know.
rado1
dennisharrison, linksys SPA 3102 ...good compat w/asterisk?
dennisharrison
hmm
havent used it personally
let me check
rado1
kk thx
range
I was thinking about doing that in %postinstall, but am not sure how.
dag
range: RPM packages should not mess with existing config-files
range: things can go utterly wrong
range
dag: I was thinking more about copying, but yes, you are right
Forget my question :)
dennisharrison
rado1, looks good man, I haven't used personally
but I don't see any issues with it
rado1
good cuz I ordered it yest.
dennisharrison
let me know if you need helping getting your channels set
hehe
rado1
dennisharrison, it will be awhile...dealin w/some heath stuff now but soon as can
range
dag: Yes. I think I'll update the wiki article on wiki.centos.org instead.
rado1

dennisharrison
ok sure thing radal let me know

rado1

w1z3r

mistell!
rado1
lol sounds like donkey in shreck
jig-saw
what is "neon"
it wants to install or update my "neon"
w1z3r
lol
range
jig-saw: yum -c "/etc/yum.conf.rpmforge" info neon
Yes, it's needed for subversion.
jig-saw
range, it says http/webdav library. I will use SSH tunnel or SVN server. Is it still needed?
what if I don't allow it or?
range
jig-saw: Then it won't install subversion, as subversion has neon as a requirement.
jig-saw
ok I'll proceed then
i just read "neon buffer overflow vulnerability" somewhere :P
woa sh*t
it works
haha amazing
exclusing the rpmforge part, installation on linux is easier even than windows :D hehe
excluding
dennisharrison
jig-saw, are you going to be hosting a website or something on this server?
jig-saw
dennisharrison, yea :P
dennisharrison, bad/good?
dennisharrison
do you have any kind of ocntrol panel on it?
control
jig-saw
dennisharrison, cpanel
dennisharrison
like ensim or plesk or something
wow ...
jig-saw
I said I don't want it but they installed it anyway
and since I'm lame
dennisharrison
do you have to have it because its a vps?
jig-saw
I went for it since I'm left totally unmanaged otherwise
dennisharrison
well
jig-saw
they don't offer support for bare servers
dennisharrison
ok
welp
jig-saw
if you know good hosting provider dennisharrison, i'm all ears
dennisharrison
for vps
I would say ev1
jig-saw
but they offer only dedicated and no management right?
dennisharrison
verio if you are going to spend some serious scratch
jig-saw
I mean
dennisharrison
thats not true
I don't want to really advertise for them because like I said I haven't used it personally
range
Hmmm. Can we get back to centos then?
dennisharrison
but my friend works there and he is very meticulous
I think it would be redhat el4
jig-saw
ok I see it now
the 20GB package it very close to what I have
feature and price wise
dennisharrison
ok cool we need to keep this on topic ;p
jig-saw
except ev1 offers to software support for what I know
:P
