kee-un
pabluss: #openvpn are a fairly helpful crowd
orc_orc
pabluss: /me marking up a reply -- stand by
lovelyx
never go to #solaris, not helpful at all
donavan
lovelyx: nobody cares (really)
Evolution
I care
kee-un
#ffmpeg, least helpful most elitist crowd. evar.
Evolution
but not about that.
kee-un: I accept that challenge!
pabluss
kee-un: thanks but perhaps all the people are sleeping .. ;)
donavan
(Action) goes to #ffmpeg to learn

pabluss
oh oh
:(
ok
lovelyx
donavan, go to #gentoo and ask what distro is the best for servers
pabluss
there we go again...
lovelyx
donavan, i just know i have to try tinysofa
donavan
target past time?
Evolution
I slept on tinysofa once in college.. my back was sore for a week
pabluss
ok... --> http://www.rafb.net/paste/results/1Xj4yF68.html
:)
donavan
kee-un: did you ask to come back?
kee-un
donavan: yes sir, sorry sir
Evolution
hahahahaha
lovelyx
imagine a world full of tiny sofas
Evolution
kee-un: :-P
kee-un
excellent, anyway, night all
Evolution
(Action) gets out his soap box and adds another level
pabluss
(Action) only see kicked what's happens here?
orc_orc
pabluss: http://www.herrold.com/openvpn-multilink.html
pabluss: you have to have glbally unique IP's -- line 2 (end) and 3 have the same IP on two different boxes
pabluss
let me see orc_orc... wait a microsft minute :D
orc_orc
the multiple multicast looks shakey to me as well -- lones 48 thru 51
it is unlikely line 35 is what you intend
pabluss
orc_orc: hmmm therefore my problem is with my ADSL ip internal....
orc_orc: i can solve this situation with channing the ip serves in the segment 192.168.1.X for other...
orc_orc
pabluss: the presence ot two hosts with the same IP is troubling ... a change by renumbering to solve this is needed, I think
pabluss: yes

pabluss
orc_orc: ugly solution....
orc_orc
pabluss: it is a pain to renumber a network segment, but that happens and is needed to solve issues from time to time
the trick is to design so that it only has to be done once, as per my email posted
pabluss
orc_orc: ok ... i'm agree with you
rado1
Zerberus: you here?
Zerberus
yes
rado1
hey now!!!
could we go to chat for a just a bit?
Zerberus
feel free to query me
rado1
you do me please I've never done that
right that is lol
pabluss
thanks orc_orc see you later...
chao orc_orc
;)
novafirst
orc_orc: I am still trying to troubleshoot my network issue. Could you suggest anyone? I uploaded output to http://www.rafb.net/paste/results/fpdbNm11.html
rado1
what's your network doin?
Evolution
my guess would be "nothing"
:-P
rado1
that not nice Ev!!
novafirst
lol
Evolution
rado1: "nice" and "right" are seldom seen together.
;-)
rado1
uh huh
and 2 days later I woke up talking to Elvis
novafirst: what's the network not doing?
Zule
Hello~ I've a problem using Yum, though it isn't about the GPG Key :D Basically when running it I get "retrygrab() failed for: http://mirrors.cat.pdx.edu/centos/3.6/addons/i386/headers/header.info, Executing failover method, failover: out of servers to try". So, am I just ment to choose something from the mirrors page and update every url in the yum.conf file?
donavan
Zule: what proxy is upstream from your box?
Zule
No clue I'm afraid! How'd I check?
donavan
ask your network people?
ohhh actually it looks like that mirror doesn't carry 3 anymore
pick a different mirror from the list shown in the /topic
Zule
okiedokie, thanks :)
novafirst
rado1: as you can see from this link http://www.rafb.net/paste/results/fpdbNm11.html I have couple linux servers. One is redhat8 and other one is centos4.3
rado1
kk and?
.25 is centos and 29 is RH9
novafirst
I am unable to ping, nslookup, or traceroute centos box from local network. Example, WinXP can ping redhat but can't ping centos. btw WinXP its on the same network and subnet
rado1
you pinging from ip or hostname(s)
novafirst
now, the intresting thing is that I can ping centos box from another network
I am pinging only IP and not hostname
rado1
you goin thru a switch?
novafirst
also accessing internet from centos takes long time. even yum complains
yes, all servers are connected to the same switch
there is one difference in ip route
rado1
which is?
novafirst
centos shows 169.254.0.0/16 dev eth0 scope link and redhat doesn't
Zerberus
novafirst: nothing to worry about, that is zeroconf
novafirst
can I remove it from conf
Zerberus
and your RHL8 is dead and smells like a fish from last year
rado1
what box is .31?
novafirst
there is nothing on 31, 31 is broadcast IP
Zerberus
novafirst: you can disable it, but it does no harm
rado1
lol Zeberus
novafirst
Zerberus: can you tell me how
rado1
bad fish
Zerberus
echo "NOZEROCONF=yes" >> /etc/sysconfig/network; service network restart
donavan
(Action) slaps the spoon out of Zerberus's hand watches it fall onto the dirty floor with the dead fish
rado1
bad fish
LuvRedheads
(Action) make Zerberus eat the dead fish with the spoon
Zerberus
always on the small ponies
rado1
Zerberus: I wrote you a book ...tell me what you think
novafirst
Zerberus: ok, I made that change to network file. thanks.
Zerberus: I noticed ip route in RH8 has this line: 127.0.0.0/8 dev lo scope link and centos doesn't
Zerberus
novafirst: because RHL8 is kernel 2.4 based
and CentOS 4 runs a 2.6 kernel
novafirst
Zerberus: ok, that explains.
Zerberus, rado1: Any suggestions?
Zerberus
don't know what your problem is
rado1
if I be you I'd swap out that RH8 for centos4
then you be clean
and rid the bad fish
novafirst
that is why I am here. btw RH8 is not the one with the problem, although is bad fish but at least is working. the problem is with latest centos.
I am unable to ping, nslookup, or traceroute centos box from local network. Example, WinXP can ping redhat but can't ping centos. btw WinXP its on the same network and subnet
Zerberus
novafirst: the NIC may be broken
steve_Laptop
whats the command to start and stop nis
novafirst
if nic is broken, how come I can access it from another network
donavan
novafirst: put the output of "uname -a; ifconfig -a" on the centos box into the pastebin in the /topic
Zerberus
steve_Laptop: there is a service for ypbind
steve_Laptop
ic looking at ate confg file now but it justs hangs
novafirst
donavan: I have put output for ip route, ip addr, ip link here: http://www.rafb.net/paste/results/fpdbNm11.html
Zerberus
use tcpdump to analyze the traffic
donavan
novafirst: what is the output of "uname -a" ?
novafirst: u can paste that one line in here
novafirst
donavan: Linux asterix.novafirst.com 2.6.9-34.0.2.EL
rado1
I dunno...I can't see how but maybe swap out the switch
donavan
novafirst: go on one of the RH boxes, and type "arp 216.254.105.25 |tail -1" and paste that line in here
novafirst
ok
Zerberus
rado1: < rado1> Zerberus: I wrote you a book ...tell me what you think please tell me where you did me write it
novafirst
donavan: 216.254.105.25 (216.254.105.25) -- no entry
rado1
Zerberus: That dialog you opened between us lol
donavan
novafirst: what does traceroute 216.254.105.25 do?
Zerberus
rado1: no, nothing came up in the query
rado1
lol we a mess!
funzone
(Action) slaps Evolution around a bit with a large trout
rado1
too funny!
Zerberus: I'm gonna try to open a chat
donavan
novafirst: quickly, I must go in under 3 minutes
novafirst
ok I am trying
it find it on the second hoop
donavan
is traceroute giving you * * * ?
2nd hop?
novafirst
yes for the first hop I get * * *
donavan
then you have networking issues
novafirst
ok, where to start
Zerberus
someone so "clever" to block ICMP?
donavan
there is nothing wrong with your CentOS box
Zerberus: two boxes on the same /27 network should never be 2 hops away
novafirst
ok
Zerberus
donavan: sounds right
Evolution
(Action) toys with funzone
novafirst
ok
so it could be the router problem
because all requests are forward to gateway (router) first
rado1
why???
donavan
take it up with your network engineering group, they've clearly broken something somewhere
