blueser
thks a lot, guys, it was really helpful. I will forward your recommendations to tech guys and see what they can do about it
donavan
blueser: Evolution secretly suggest windows
blueser
donavan: nah... he wouldn't do it. at least not here ;)
Evolution
nah. I fully support the GNU/HURD movement
blueser
aye aye, sir! :)
Evolution
HURD4EVA!
Dyson
Evolution: when you're done with your CentOS/HURD fork, would you mind to build a CentOS/Solaris fork?
:p
blueser
see ya all. thks again. if I gather any useful information, I'll post back here
Evolution
Dyson: opensolaris good enough for you?

Dyson
Evolution: maybe...
Evolution: I just want CentOS on NetBSD :)
*duck*
donavan
(Action) prepares a fork for the drunken Dyson
Evolution
mmmmmm netbsd
Dyson
donavan: you don't understand... I'm stoned by nature :)
Evolution
Dyson: man netbsd is great. I ran it for a while on a 386 laptop with a 110MB hard drive and 8MB of ram
Dyson
Evolution: yep. It really works nice
Evolution
110 MB was enough space for me to have vim, and some basic utilities.
it was spiffy
Dyson
yep. these guys have the "advantage" of building their own core utilities
so there aren't any weird dependencies which force you to build a 250 MB OS core
xai
Evolution: im installing COS4 as guest os.. i can't seem to get either the lsi drivers to see the disk, and buslogic isnt in the list of available drivers ..
this is vmware 5.0
Dyson
xai: did you try with a virtual ata adapter?
xai: shouldn't make any real difference in performance
range
One of the two is broken in vmware 5.0, and I cannot remember which one. IDE works though
Dyson
xai: and you can always add a virtual scsi-adapter later for more disks and stuff
(Action) really needs a new buildhost...
xai
Dyson: ok, that's my next move.
Dyson
xai: you're going to send me a new buildhost for free? great! :)
symtab
hello
which package provides this file /usr/lib/libsablot.so.0?
i have
CentOS release 4.3 (Final)
Cannot load /usr/local/apache/libexec/libphp4.so into server: /usr/lib/libsablot.so.0: undefined symbol: readline
range
No package in CentOS does. But you can tell rpm to tell you.
That's no CentOS apache.
symtab
yeah its no
its fscking cpanel
anyway, any ideas how i could fix this error
?
range
So why aren't you asking them? The file you search comes from sablotron, which isn't in CentOS.
symtab
file is installed
but i have that error
xai
Does the server iso have a buslogic driver in it?

range
xai: Yes.
xai
I don't see it listed , but perhaps it was renamed.
im in the installer looking for it several times..
range
At least I think so.
symtab: Looks like the sablotron version and the php version don't play well together. If that also came installed with cpanel you should ask their support, as *both* packages aren't CentOS packages.
donavan
upgrade to the latest vmware workstation, your license works
range
Or do that.
Both controllers work there.
donavan
EL4 isn't "supported" on vmware WS5 IIRC
xai
donavan: you think its a vmware problem? buslogic is part of the install kernel?
range
xai: Yes. CentOS 4 works great with vmware 5.5 but has problems with 5.0-
xai
range: i just checked.. it is vmware ws 5.5.. not sure why its choking.
If I could get to a virtual console in vmware i might be able to check modules and etc..
perhaps my version of the centos4 workstation iso is not what i need.
range
Try the other controller then. vmware gives you two to choose from.
xai
range: i tried both scsi controlers, i can try ide now..
scottder
Hey all...anyone gotten mod_security working with the built-in apache install?
Zerberus
scottder: yes
http://centos.karan.org/el4/extras/stable/i386/RPMS/repodata/repoview/mod_security-0-1.9.4-1.el4.kb.html
scottder
ahh thanks
vknecht
bye
Hobart
Anyone seen a black screen of death trying to boot AMD64 CentOS 4.3? (black screen w/ flashing cursor). Verified MD5sum of image, burned 3 copies (2 at lower speeds)
IBM x306 server
Doesn't even make it to LILO
orlock
Argh, a new dual core system we just set up has started getting kernel panics!
hey you ex mlug person
NoZy
me??
donavan
Hobart: what .iso image did you burn?
orlock: don't blame the kernel
Hobart
donavan -> centos-4.3-ia64-disc1.iso
donavan
hobart, yes to answer your question
you have the wrong media
Hobart
Oh fu*king hell. HAHAHAHHAHAA
donavan
watch the words please
Hobart
Sorry. :)
donavan
ia64 != AMD64 or em64T
Hobart
The giant "IDIOT" sign falling on my head ruffled me.
Zerberus
Hobart: you are not number 1 with this mistake
Hobart
Yeah.
donavan
you seek the x86_64 release
orlock
woo
kernel BUG at include/asm/spinlock.h:133
donavan: well, the kernels blaming itself :)
donavan
orlock: what hardware?
orlock
donavan: AMDx2 3800+, 2xsata drives, software raid0
donavan
motherboard?
orlock
Gigabyte GA-K8N51GMF-9
same as in my desktop
i got woken up cos the fu*ker crashed :-\
NoZy: yeah :)
NoZy
ok
orlock
donavan: seems to be a common dual core issue, dang
irens
pie box is U8 allready
is there close the 4.4 Centos ?
donavan
irens: what are you rambling on about?
LuvRedheads
????
irens
what about centos 4.4 ?
donavan
what about it?
irens
any rumours that redhat will update it RHEL 4 to update number 4 ?
donavan
irens: can you formulate a question that makes sense?
irens
oh.
do you know something about next update from redhat for redhat enterprase linux number 4 ?
centos 4.3 is based on huge update number 3, it's correct ?
donavan
nope
LuvRedheads
sounds like a question for #redhat
orlock
donovan: yeah, its a kernel bug
irens
eh.
donavan
with what cpu's orlock ?
irens
sorry for brother you.
orlock
dual core AMD
seems to be a lot of reports of it
donavan
irens centos 4 = rhel 4 based
centos 4.3 = RHEL 4 update 3 based
whats this piebox rubbish?
irens
Donovan: ok, that is the point: any roumors about update 4 ?
orlock
ask redhat? :)
donavan
irens: I'm not a RH insider, nor do I have RHN access, but I've heard nothing official
or unofficial
rhel3 update 8 has been released from what I understand
orlock
"large north american linux distributor"
donavan
orlock: does that issue affect intel core duo as well?
orlock
donavan: know of any "official" rhel kernels newer than 2.6.9-34?
donavan: i dont know - not that google tells me, its all dual core amd
its only happened twice in a month
donavan
let me find a link to the "potential" update 4 kernel
orlock
cool
i was just about to try find it and go through the cangelog
irens
donovan: ok. thanks
donavan
orc_orc: you are running on x86_64 correct? use this: http://dev.centos.org/centos/4/testing/x86_64/RPMS/kernel-smp-2.6.9-39.0.2.EL.x86_64.rpm
orlock: rather
if you chop off the file name you can index that directory
for a 39.0.2 UP kernel, etc
orlock
nah, not _64
cool
donavan
then work your way back up the tree and down the i386 path
orlock
Its actually smeserver, but thats all centos bsed for the core stuff anyway
donavan
(Action) vanishes -- sick kids at home
orlock
yuah, should be no worris
(Action) looks for the changelog
steve
Hi, i am doing a yum update and i am getting a number of the following errors
Transaction Check Error: file /usr/share/info/libc.info-1.gz from install of glibc-devel-2.3.4-2.19 conflicts with file from package glibc-devel-2.3.4-2.9
Can anyone point me in the right direction in getting this fixed?
